Jabalpur Airport Accident: Just three months after its grand inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the new Rs 450-crore terminal at Dumna Airport in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, faced a shocking incident. According to the airport authority, heavy rains caused the collapse of a fabric canopy, severely damaging a parked car below and tearing apart part of the airport's roof.

both these terminals of jabalpur and Delhi airport were recently inaugurated by PM.. what was the hurry, due diligence should have been given to construction quality and hurry should not happen to inaugurate it.. what if there was someone in the car at that time?

The canopy collapses which we are seeing is majority because of lack of preventive maintenance not carried out by the airport authority on time . Before rains, the maintenance team has to clear all the drain water system blockages over the canopy/terrace failing which water may accumulate and the terrace may collapse. The canopies are designed to provide shade and shelter under sun and rain, it can also withstand heavy winds but not designed to hold weight over a prolonged period of time. In this case it a clear rain water drain blockage resulting in accumulation of rain water triggering roof collapse. This was totally the fault of the airport operator/maintenance team. What is more disgusting is that airlines pay airport fee for the use of airport facilities related to the use of airport infrastructure such as runways and passenger terminals.

Jabalpur Airport canopy collapse Delhi T1 terminal huge part collapse. Even if they were inaugurated by Modiji, in a haste for LS elections, we must raise the point that Construction must be given due time, effort, supervision & must not be for electoral advantages. Good, this time no one raising PANAUTI gimmick.
