This is the Jabba's Palace scene from Return of the Jedi with the rancor done in stop-motion animation using the old school action figures. Not bad for 18 hours worth of work back in 1993.
Nice frame for frame homage. In fact I think its pretty cool you managed to get this done in 18 hours. Some people would take a few days to get everything in time as good as you did. It's even more of an achievement when you did this back in the day when only VHS was available. It must have been painful to keep pausing the tape for reference!
Thanks a lot! Glad you appreciate the vintage figures. The new Kenner line had not been created yet so the original figures were all I had. Did you notice the old Yakface and Amanaman figures as well? Those were pretty rare making it all the more authentic!
Not Bad,.The original"Kenner" figures& Playsets make it all more unique,.it's great How you Used Greedo amongst the'83 gen.reflecting on ROTJ,.I Like Both of the"Klattu's",.Perfect,Luke Taking His Weapon from Him (Skiff Guard),.Great Job,looks Awsome!
@adjusttint This was made before the new line of figures and they didn't have a slave outfit in the original line so I used the closest one I could think of.
this is realy, really cool. the one thing I would do if you did another one of these is to take a few more pictures a second- it would make it less "choppy"
@adjusttint The figure I used was the Leia in the bounty hunter Boushh disguise, the outfit she wore in the beginning of the movie. I don't know why they didn't make a slave Leia figure.
I wish I could have taken more frames a second but it was 1993 and the only camera I had was a crappy 8mm video camera that my parents bought in 1989. It only was able to shoot 6 frames per second. Check out my movie Covert Operatives. I used all 24 frames per second of the 16mm film I shot on for that movie and it's less choppy.
