It's because any gay content he got when he was growing up was all misery and tragedy so he chooses to perpetuate the same cycle with his shows rather than give younger queers something more positive, like they need. He also hated that a 'side character' (Ianto) got more attention than the 'star' he wrote in Gwen.
@@itsonlysound oh girl please id rather watch something tragic and entertaining than something bland and wholesome. U have heartstoppers and love Simon isn't that enough?
@@nytesla_punk3327Just because he played your precious coffee boy, it doesn't mean Gareth David Lloyd does or should have any authority over how Gwen is written. How she is written in the expanded media is completely derivative of how she is written in the show. But I don't expect you Janto fangirls to know the difference between good accurate writing and terrible writing.
Oh god I just watched the ep with the last scene in it and have been able to watch this video now... it's so bittersweet I might actually cry, I'm gonna go console myself with some fluff fics of them living happy lives together and pretend the children of earth series just never happened :(((
"I love you" "Dont :(" X_X "IANTO STAY WIT ME PLS" "Dont forget me" "Never could" "Thousand years of time. You wont remember me." * "Yes i will, i promise. I will." *i love you too
still waiting on torchwood s5 when ianto is brought back to life and him and jack live a long happy life and nothing bad ever happens again 😁 (im delusional)
It’s not that it has gay characters but now it’s all so in your face. Ncuti Gatwa’s doctor acts very camp while all other gay or otherwise characters act normal showing that being gay can be the status quo and normalising it.
@@charlierenwick3682 there’s nothing wrong with being camp, camp gay men deserve as much respect as any other queer identity/expression, go with your internalized/misogynistic homofobia elsewhere, also I think Jack was very camp
@charlierenwick3682 Jack acted extremely camp too though, and Cassandra, and the master etc, etc. And it's not like this show has ever really been in favour of handling character's sexualities with tact and eloquence ( 'I'm a lizard woman from the dawn of time and this is my wife!' 'We're the thin/fat/gay Anglican marines!' 'Men aren't where I keep my eye, actually', and so on) what I'm getting at is, I think a high camp tolerance is sort of a requirement with this franchise. If some of it isn't to your taste, that's fine (me and eleven's run never got on) but blaming the new queer rep feels wrong because the show's been at it for so long.
I know, and it’s wonderful. There are so many people who have come out or been helped by the fact that they were a fab, gay couple, that could inspire them to not be ashamed of who/what they were.
Later on the Face of Boe protects his aide by enveloping her in his smoke during another toxic air crisis. He never forgot Ianto and did everything he could to make sure he didn't let another loved one die like that.
Their relationship development is practically non-existent, especially in the beginning, but since all the characters in this show are just disaster bi's, it actually works for them.
I've always been a fan of Doctor Who ever since I was at a very young age, which was around the time Series 1 with RTD began, watched all of the Sarah Jane Adventures and finally gave Torchwood a shot, and I really adore the characters, the stories are emotional and captivating but some more than others, and how can nobody adore this couple?
Bury your gay requires the gay dying to be a token gay. And the idea that the gay characters are the ones who never get a "happy ending" as opposed to the others since they're just there to give free pathos. Which is not the case in torchwood. 1. It's a drama series 2. Jack was created as an anti "bury your gays" since he can't stay dead 3. at this point almost everyone died janto being good at pathos is mostly because they' ré one of the best developed part of the show 4. There's no token gay in this show.
I didn't even watch the last episode of the third season or any of the fourth. I haven't watched anything past the second season since the original airing of Ianto being killed off. What ticked me off was after shooting was done, when the cast was at comic com shows and the fans told them they wanted more Jack/Ianto, the fans were told they were going to be very happy with season 3. Since there was only one more season after that with greatly depleted ratings, I don't think the fans were happy.
ianto dying was a lie, jack breathed in the air and started hallucinating. after the series, jack and ianto reunited and lived a happy life together. [ or, atleast ianto did :( ]
imo ianto had so much potential. since the very beginning we see him as a caring and loyal romantic partner who will do anything to protect the ones he loves, plus he is very good at hiding his feelings / emotions and intentions. also we shown how he and jack met there was some kind of “flirty chemistry” (it was only a way for ianto to get into torchwood, we sll know it) but slowly jack comes to appreciate ianto’ s presence and actd. their relationship is not forced, rather they hadn’ t had enough time to develop (?) an emotional connection. i do not mean to offend you, it is meant to be an exchange of opinions.
