Interestingly the VB didn't have a dedicated FM sound chip like the GB. The VB was actually Nintendo's first 32-bit system, so they had the extra juice to emulate the 5-channel sound. Kind of a best-of-no-worlds approach, really as they planned for game carts to have an add on chip for sound enhancement, like the SuperFX for graphics, but sound. That never happened because....history. Cheers
