I met Jack Clark only once in my life. It was at a taping of Wheel Of Fortune at NBC in Burbank, California when it was still just a daytime show back in 1980. He was so nice! During the taping breaks, audience members like myself got to ask questions. I asked Jack two different questions about two shows that he did, Dealer's Choice and Split Second. I told him that I used to watch Dealer's Choice and I even had the home game. Jack quipped that he thought only one of those games were sold. He wondered who got stuck with that one. He was kidding, of course. Later I asked him about Split Second, and there was a question about Dick Clark on there and the show's host Tom Kennedy said that it was one for the Clark boys. I asked Jack if he was any relation to Dick Clark, and he said no. When the taping session ended, he called me his Dealer's Choice pal, way after I said it before. He gave me his autograph, which I wish that I still had, and my mother said to him that I watch Cross-Wits. I said to him, "Jack, er, Mr. Clark." Jack then said, "Yes, Jack, you were right the first time." What a great guy Jack was. When he died of bone cancer in 1988, it really broke my heart. RIP, Jack.

I bet that short lived 1986-87 revival of Cross-Witts would've lasted much longer if they hadn't replaced him with that David Sparks guy (whoever he was). Jack Clark will always be the real host of that show.

Jack Clark was so underrated, it's too bad he didn't get that many chances to host (besides fill-in stints and pilots), Such a genuinely nice guy too. I hear he often hosted pilots for free or scale pay.

Rod Roddy also did a lot of pilots.

True, though his biggest claim to fame was the original cross wits, and announcing for Wheel of Fortune up until his death in 1988

Jack Clark always seemed like he was enjoying himself while hosting. He was great with contestants and celebrities, showing his versatility. He should have hosted more shows instead of being stuck in the announcer’s booth.

Jack was a class act...when he participated in the GS hosts tournament on Card Sharks in 1980, there was one Money Cards where Jack said that if he were just playing for himself, he'd risk it all on the Big Bet, but wanting his charity to get some $$$, he was only going to wager the minimum half of his total.

I remember Jack as the announcer on Bob Stewart’s game Eye Guess on NBC. Jack had some great banter with host Bill Cullen.

In the "Password" clip, the announcer is Bob Kennedy, who hosted the game shows "Wingo" and "Window Shopping".

Jack should have had more hosting opportunities, as he was just as natural as Allen, Bill, Tom, Jack (Narz), etc. As a Philly guy, it was great hearing Rita Moreno name-dropping the long-gone Play house In The Park. I saw The Wizard of Oz play there with my first grade classmates there back in 1982.

Jack Clark subbing for Allen Ludden on Password is much like Johnny Gilbert subbing for Bill Cullen during the ABC run of Price. (Jack Clark announced at least one season of Password.)

1988 was when he died, earlier that year he was diagnosed with bone cancer (Sam was right about that), But continued announcing on wheel of fortune as long as he physically could. When he was forced to leave the show, he requested that Charlie O' Donnell be brought back to replace him, but they couldn't get him due to his commitments to Chuck Barris, so M.G. Kelly took over on a temporary basis until 1989 when Charlie O was available.

To me, Jack Clark should have hosted The Face Is Familiar and not Jack Whittaker, God rest his soul. JW was too stiff to be a game show host, while JC did it justice.

Network influence, they wanted Jack Whittaker cause he was a bigger name. 😔

100 Grand may have been Jack's ticket to a regular game show gig, but it was cancelled after 3 weeks on the air (9/15/63-9/29/63)

I didn’t see 100 Grand, but apparently critics said it was boring. The two experts spent the show writing each other’s questions.
