Draper Will be a big name in the years to come ! Big talent ! Just need to work on his body to avoid injury repetition like in the past and have a longer stamina to come through tough and long matches in slams
Really pleased for Jack. The first set and a half was tennis from the gods. Also really good to see him stay calm during that wobbly part, that's very valuable XP points earnt there. Would love to see him have a good run in Paris now but he's got a stinker of a first round draw. I hope he hasn't used up too much emotional energy and he is ready to go again tomorrow.
Jack is becoming a beast. Not only does he open up the court with that hook forehand, he does the same thing with his backhand. He changes direction effortlessly too. Karen looked flustered, and he's been playing well 😮
Карен красавчик! два финала back2back ! Реально мог зацепить 3 сет, а там... В любом случае молодец! Дрэйпер тоже классно играл, бешеная у него подача, конечно. финал был супер , хороший уровень
Yes he’s still only 22, hopefully he will stay injury free and work on his endurance. He has all the shots. The most talented British player I’ve seen, and yes that includes the great Andy Murray
The incredible thing is that thanks to the fact that Alcaraz and Sinner were absent it gave others players spaceto advance and man did they use it well,so many young players exploided on the scene on both tournament in Vienna and Basel that will challenge well both Sinner and Alcaraz in years to come.
This match had me at the edge of my seat! So very well deserved for Draper! Respect to Karen, who fought until the end and came back from being 4-0 down. Congrats to both men. 🎉
All I’ve read all week is praise for Khachanov, and how amazing he’s playing. Draper though is an absolute beast and deserves the title. Still only 22 so hopefully more to follow
To soon for that. Draper(22) is doing well right now but so is Aurther Fils(20). Perricard(21) also won his first ATP 500 now. They're all very young and quite unproven to be considered in the same bracket as Alcaraz(21) and Sinner(23) who have multiple 1000s and Grand-Slams already. I wouldn't count Lehecka(22) out as well. He was looking solid before his back injury during the clay court season. With all that, there's still Rune(former 1000s champion and still 21) and Shelton(22 and former 500s champion) who've potential but they lack the right mentality when on court. There are a lot of contenders for that number-3 spot, all young and exciting with huge potential. But Draper seems the best of the lot right now.
Draper almost found a way to lose the match. Khachanov for almost 90% of the match was playing guessing game whether draper would go down the line or cross court with his ground strokes. I think draper could have won this match 6-4, 6-2. Glad he came over his nerves and won he really played some inspiring tennis throughout the week.
Congrats! However, Draper has to improve his endurance or game plans. If he has a problem with his endurance and he is 2 breaks up, he must not chase a ball too much in the opponent's service game without clear chances....
Lots of people glad for Jack - including me. But that forehand looks like a career-threatening injury waiting to happen. He needs to find a coach who can slightly remodel it to be less wildly articulated
Draper was leading 4-0 in the second set but Khachanov levelled at 4-4, thought the momentum shifted but Draper was able to break back finally and win the match, kinda exciting
