It's actually hilarious to me that the thumbnail for this video is not from Torchwood at all but is the cover to a relatively recent audio drama where Jack meets an incapacitated Sixth Doctor, takes his coat, and adopts the name Doctor for a while. It's one of those ideas that's like, I don't know why anyone thought to do this, but I respect how out there it is.

Fun fact: John Barrowman who plays Captain Jack Harkness is actually Scottish like David Tennant but was hired to play an American. I've heard his Scottish accent and it's fantastic! 🥰

Be is Scottish by birth but moved to America when he was eight...he speaks with a Scottish accent when in the UK but with an American one when in the States...recalls himself ScottishAmerican...😊

Jack didn't actually start Torchwood, but he took it over and revamped it. Torchwood's actual origins are way before the 20th Century.

As far as Jack experiencing more emotions than the Doctor goes. The Doctor during the time Jack is hanging around is about 900 years old. Jack meanwhile is around 170. Old enough that he has lost everyone that matters, probably multiple times, but nowhere near to the extent the Doctor has. The Doctor is also a Time Lord, humans must seem like puppies to him. Jack on the other hand is human, a human with knowledge of technology 3000 years in the future, but human none the less. Its no surprise he finds it easier to relate even if he lacks mortality.

Just in case it isn't clear yet from all the clips you've seen so far, Todd, 'Captain Jack Harkness' is not a Time Lord, but a Time Agent from the 51st Century, and when we first meet him in Doctor Who he's mortal. At the end of the modern Dr Who's first season, though, the 9th Doctor's companion, Rose, possessed by the soul of the Tardis, ends up making him immortal. I could go on, but if you ever end up watching Dr Who or Torchwood I don't want to ruin them for you. He's a fantastic character and John Barrowman plays him to perfection. By the way, if you do decide to watch modern Dr Who (and I recommend you do, as it's brilliant), the only place to start is at the beginning of the first season with the first episode, 'Rose', which introduced everyone to the 9th Doctor, played wonderfully by Christopher Ecclestone. This also happens to be the season in which we were first introduced to Jack.

Just being nitpicky here, but the Doctor always mentioned Bad Wolf as being Rose, never once as being possessed by the soul of the TARDIS. Thats just a theory. What Rose did, was look into the heart of the TARDIS, which she describes as “she looked into the TARDIS, and the TARDIS looked into her”, and Rose absorbed the Time Vortex, not the soul of the TARDIS. The TARDIS gave Rose the power to be able to save the Doctor, but did not possess her.

@@miekelei2761 Technically, you're correct, of course. As Todd hasn't even watched the series yet, and I was aiming for brevity, I just thought I'd put it the way I did so he'd get the gist of it. Good that you prefaced your comment with an admission you're being nitpicky, though, because yes, you are, really. :D Far more intriguing to me is actually why Brad didn't 'like' my lengthier attempt to be informative whilst he DID 'like' the comment of someone who just said, 'He's no time lord' ..... Maybe he was put off doing so through reading your nitpick. Thanks. Haha

You’ve done so many Dr. Who/Torchwood reactions that I’m left wondering- are there any Whoniverse plot points that haven’t been spoiled for you at this point? I think all the big ones have been by now.

Maybe Clara's. And I don't think he totally realizes who River is. Also, he doesn't know how Martha and Donna's story will end. Or what happens to Rose at the end of S1. He just knows some outlines, I guess.

See, I spotted a lot of Torchwood spoilers in this video, but since they were coming so fast, one after another with little context, I genuinely don't know how much of it Todd absorbed. Especially given the Benadryl. lol

I mean an immortal like Jack could be upto that, but he wouldn't be close enough to someone who's the last of his kind and is basically just an immortal who changes form.

Okay now with Jack let me answer your question yes there is a pretty big difference in between the doctor and Jack the first-place Jack is a human he's coming from the 51st century and the doctor is a timelord so two different species. Okay now what happened to Jack is next we have two going back to series 1 episode 12 &13 of Doctor Who. Induce what happened is that Jack was Murder By Daleks nope so the person who save him or practically bring him back was Rose Tyler the doctor's companion. Rose open the heart of the TARDIS and is she absorbed the time vortex energy practically she became a goddess and she brings life and Jack was alive again later on the doctor explain to Jack that signs Rose was only human she doesn't have the complete and total control of the time Vortex energy and that's why he keeps dying and coming back so she bring him back forever. And also you heard in the video Jack became effect of fixed point in time in history so he practically be killed and but he get back to life pretty quick. About Torchwood Jack getting created the person who created was Queen Victoria in 1860 now if you're interesting to understand a little bit more about torchwood or even the doctor there is a Serial of audiobooks that i have if you're interested about it and if you're interested just let me know and I will send to you the link where you can download.
