You grow up with your homies, and you think you're gonna be down for life. But then, as you get older, you start to realize that some people change. They start doing dumb stuff, and they become people you don't even know. It's tough, but it's part of life. And Jack Harlow is spitting straight facts in this song. Yeah but let's be real that last album was trash, and this one is dope but it needed to be longer, not necessarily the song lengths but at least more tracks. I think if he had added one more verse to each song that only has two it would have hit way harder commercially and been more replayable. It kind of annoys me that he only put two verses on most of the songs because of you listen to "Blame it On me" which was three verses and I think 4 mins long, you can see the full potential of a fully fleshed out idea, he needs to work on his hook game too. The beat selection was perfect though. I predict he'll release a video for Denver or Blame it on Me next, if not both.

This song is absolutley haunting. A eulogy for the friends we've lost. I think in the 21st century almost all of us in the western world have found ourselves in one of these situations at one time or another. A terribly painful feeling. Someone who you once called family, a brother, could be capable of such terrible attrocities it makes you question if you were a bad person for being their friend. For protecting your friend. The chorus screams all too loud. When Jack says, "Died for my dogs" He doesn't mean literally. I think he means the feeling of having your soul ripped out when you realize someone who you believed was someone you could look up to and trust could have been a wolf in sheep's clothing all along. An akward and painful subject to talk about. A poem of tragic porportions. Bravo, Jack. I am now a fan.

“Gang-Gang-Gang" paints a vivid picture of how the people closest to our childhood can sometimes turn out to be the worst version of themselves. Our friends from our "gang", and we stick with them through thick and thin. But when they cross certain boundaries, things can take a different turn, and the "bro code" that governs male friendships has to be dropped. Harlow does not encourage nor allow negative nor self-destructive behavior in another but he points out this toxic side in the friendship that we have made of it as cultural; therefore, this song is uncomfortable because we as people have embraced this toxicity. Jack stresses the importance of being responsible in our friendships and urges listeners to hold their friends accountable no matter how long they have known them.

This shit hit pretty hard.. A couple years ago I reconnected with my boy I haven't seen in two or three years before that, we kinda fell out for a while after we got into a fist fight, during the fight he said "You and I both know I'm the last real friend you got left" even though i chose to separate myself from our little clique because i wanted a better life after I got clean from Heroin and I couldn't that with them. Anyways, I was making music and wanted to show him because he makes music too. We both played guitar and I introduced him to the idea of rapping, we always wanted to combine the two elements in a tasteful way. He was acting and saying some weird shit about conspiracy theories, and oddly enough I had been studying the same kind of stuff, I wanted so badly to get noticed with my music I was looking everywhere for a leg up. Well, he decided that was with drugs still, but I had grown out of that phase and wanted to expand my creativity organically. He told me had been tripping on LSD/Shrooms for the last three months and was pushing me to do it with him. He swore that the drugs and "higher learning" combined were making his music incredible. Admittedly he got better, but he was definitely delusional from the drugs and extremely paranoid. A few days later we hung out and he was acting even stranger, almost scary, really going off about that conspiracy stuff. He thought I was Freemason, because I told him I was researching it and had actually applied to the local lodge, but ultimately backed out. That night I dropped him off but before I did I was rolling a blunt, and he told me about his cousin who was a girl really into witchcraft and that was the same kind of "higher learning" he was getting into. I asked how she was, but forgot that me having a fling with her might have rubbed him the wrong way. There was an awkward silence, and I got this crazy pit in my stomach I can't even explain how odd I felt. Just felt like something was extremely off and finally he said "You should probably hurry up and get out of here man" In my head I was like wow damn, were adults is he really mad her and I had sex? But figured whatever guess I'll smoke this blunt to my face and headed home. But I just couldn't shake that feeling I had, so the next day I called my other friend who just got out of jail. He had been locked for seven years, but I didn't wanna lose all my old friends so we reconnected. I said to him "man Kyle is acting seriously odd, I know we already discussed this, but it's getting worse" and around noon time he texted back "yeah I know, he stabbed his dad last night, he's dead" I couldnt believe what I was reading so I texted and messaged everyone I knew from town and all our old friends and they all heard the same thing, his own brothers found out through his friends that their dad was killed. The way he chose to do it was reminiscent of like a sayounce or some sort of black magick ritual, it was 3AM on a harvest moon during the 13th of November and i remembered he told me that he took shrooms at 3am on the 13th of October and his voice became "like an angels" were his words. When the cops came he didn't even remember what he did or anything and just casually walked past them covered in blood. He ended up in jail then refused to eat because he thought he was being set up, the whole story is nuts and you can look it up (Kyle Carpenter - Thompson CT - Murder) It's a small rural town, they call it the quiet corner of CT because no one really lives there and nothing happens. We barely even have police up there. Anyway, once the news broke out so many of our old friends group felt bad for the kid, and even kinda pointed the blame toward me and his family because I guess you're supposed to be able to predict murder just based off someone being delusional, but the thing is schizophrenia runs in his family and clearly the drugs exacerbated it for him. His uncle almost killed HIS dad when he was younger as well, but they stopped him in time and got him help. When we were growing up all of us always said we would have each other's backs forever, but when my boy was in jail for seven years? He said he barely got a letter, and when he got out that's freinds group basically evaporated, and when this kid went to jail for killing his dad? I was done with him personally. I lost my dad to cancer just years before and it made me angry that he chose to kill his. I would have loved to still have my dad. Point I'm making is you really think you're gonna have the same freinds forever, but circumstances and choices change that over time. You have to draw the line somewhere, if the ship is sinking, build a new one to save yourself, and if anyone wants to be a part if that needs ship make room, but if someone chooses to jump off don't risk the ship by going to far out to search for them, extend a paddle if you can from a safe distance but be careful because sometimes those ones you thought were "gang" will take the paddle and die with it just so the rest of the ship is forced to go down with them

@jon1867
@jon1867 11 месяцев назад
@@user-er3bs9sq6i I see how you could think that contradicts the point of the song, but it really doesn't. A: Jack Harlow could have not known that B: Even if he did know it, the reality is that sometimes if you want to improve culture and make things better you need to go through it not against it. C: Was he found guilty? I know this is the first I've heard of this but I don't really pay attention to that stuff
@user-er3bs9sq6i
@user-er3bs9sq6i 11 месяцев назад
@@jon1867 Who are you to say that it really doesn't? Your opinion is not fact. You are defending rape because you are a celebrity worshiper. This album was not universally well received by the masses. Research fan review websites. This album is a 5 out of 10. 50 out of 100 is an F. Jack is absolutely garbage compared to someone like Joey Badass. You don't get falsely accused of rape by two different women. Snoop settled out of court and payed them to keep them silent.
@jon1867
@jon1867 11 месяцев назад
@@user-er3bs9sq6i I'm not defending shit, music is subjective. Feel free to like what you like I really don't care who you like. BTW a two second google trying to find dirt on Joey Badass, shows him defending Bill Cosby who's got a lot more than two rape allegations and guilty convictions. Does that make both you and Joey celebrity worshippers? If you think album ratings mean anything to me other than a suggestion on what to listen to, you're not even close to understanding how I process music or art in general.
@user-er3bs9sq6i
@user-er3bs9sq6i 11 месяцев назад
@@jon1867 It took you 3 days to respond to that. Joey Badass didn't make a song about holding rapists accountable like Jack Harlow. He's not contradicting himself like Jack. But forget Joey Badass. Earl Sweatshirt makes Jack look like a short bus passenger. That's just one example. It would be difficult finding someone as bad as Jack. You can like Jack but most people don't.

I’m not even gonna lie, I’ve always thought that young bro came across as being cool and down-to-earth. But I haven’t really been checking for his music. I’ve often wondered why many artists haven’t taken the route of reeling people in with what they’re used to, then showing them something different. This is exactly what Jack has done. He got commercially famous and decided to drop more of a pure “hip hop” project. This particular song is not only dope, but it’s very real. It sucks when you have to cut off people you’ve always rocked with because they turned out to be horrible human beings.

Sooo many dudes will condemn rapists, murders, pedophiles, but when it’s their homies, they make excuses based on the longevity of their friendship.
