“In Sanskrit or Pali the word is ‘Trishna,’ which means thirst, desire, wanting. It’s exaggeration, or the realm that it manifests in in the greatest way, is called ‘The Realm of the Hungry Ghosts.’ Hungry Ghosts are pictured as these beings who have huge stomaches and tiny little mouths, so that it’s never possible to get enough in there to ease that hunger.” - Jack Kornfield
In this episode, Jack vulnerably navigates:
- Hunger, abundance, deprivation, indulgence, addiction, and the illusion of incompleteness
- Feeling idiotic, depressed, needy, judgmental, sad, lonely, hungry, etc
- Trishna-thirst, desire, wanting-and the Realm of the Hungry Ghosts
- Samsara and the propulsion of endless wanderings of seperation/seeking
- Ajahn Chah and being with what is, rather than struggling against it
- Relating wisely and tenderly to Buddha’s First Noble Truth of suffering
- Nirvana as the end of cyclical grasping and the illusion that we are incomplete
“Nirvana is the end of cyclic existence, which is to say, the end of grasping and going around in circles looking for something that you are, but haven’t yet touched-the end of the illusion that we are incomplete.” - Jack Kornfield

When I allow myself to feel this hunger instead of jumping to satisfy it which I never really do tbh, when i eat, smoke a joint, stay busy busy busy I feel im hust numbing it, but when i do with it, i always do feel very in control of my life. But then the chills start and those thoughts of death arrive. The same ones i had when i had a kundalini awakening, and then surrendered to the chills that were so icey i couldn't tell if I was dieing or my body was starting to ignite and burst into flames until i was reborn. But I always get so close but then panic and scoff a pizza. I will get there in this life that I am sure of. ❤

Jack Kornfield has given us much wisdom; however, there is more. Meditation is great to quiet the mind during meditation, however, it has its limitations. Spinoza, a 17th-century philosopher, gives us a method to strengthen our mind and live in clarity and truth. The power of understanding thyself leads to freedom from childhood trauma, negative emotions and can become a new reality.

The oddly shaped lettuce holds more fascination for me but I'd like to rapidly ram that donut in my gob while I study the lettuce 🍩

Try becoming a breatharian from one day to the other and see what happens. The title is the real illusion here.
