Jack Kornfield: There is No Spiritual Bypass 

I think the title of this video is wrong, but he said we CAN'T GO BYPASSING, but he didn't deny there is a spiritual bypass, actually he explains it

I almost didn't click on this. because of the title. Misleading. And doing a disservice to buddhism. I would really recommend some of the alternate title suggestions being made.

Wrong! there *IS* spiritual bypassing. _I'm good and then of course you get in an intimate relationship situation or or some other difficulty comes in you realize, all right now, this is really the place that I have to learn how to do this work and so somehow putting those pieces together for us personally and then thinking about how we educate kids and so forth... that's an important thing to understand_ Those who spiritual bypass DO SO *BECAUSE* they are not FULLY AWARE of the above, much less UNDERSTAND its importance. And even if you told them, the fear of knowing the truth of it will often keep them from ACTING on it. So to say there is no spiritual bypassing is nonsense and confusing to those who want to understand it. In addition, dealing with our worst stuff is the hardest thing one can do. Many people would rather die than admit they made a mistake, acknowledge their shortcomings, or inner conflicts. For that matter, and by taking this stance of denial, they deny i.e. bypass, a greater awareness of many things not just the spiritual. I wish Kornfield and the whole spiritual community would create a specific kind of psychotherapy that can address our dark side in a more direct and expedient way. Werner Erhard tried to do this and for the life of me you, would think that, by now, and with all that we know of integral psychology, we would have a new way to address our inner conflicts. Where are the Freud's and the Jung's of today?

He means, spiritual bypassing doesn't work. You can't avoid dealing with your deeper (psychological / traumas) problems

This is a play on words lol. You can and cannot spiritually bypass. You can if you want to stay the same but you cannot if you want to evolve. People read the title and make assumptions.

I find it funny how he talks of spiritual bypassing while mentioning his own wounds in the past tense lol. Wounds are never ending my dude.

Regardless of the misleading title, here is me putting my own thoughts on this for the universe to see. Psychology and the concept and terms like "spiritual bypassing"... "boundaries" are creation and invention of white, European/American WESTERN ideas. There is absolutely nothing wrong with them; but the problem arises when we try to cloak these ideas ONTO Eastern religion or sanctamoniously assume everyone in the rest of the world such as Yoruba, Ainu, Hong Kong, Yanomomo, Peru, Calcutta, Oman and what not must follow OUR ego-centric ideas as to what culture and lifestyle should be. Very America-centric really. FFS... think about it. Do you honestly think in Buddhas time such concepts existed? So. If a homeless person asks you for money and you KNOW she will use it for drug addiction but you give away a dollar... what? Suddenly that makes you "people pleasure" with "poor concept of boundaries" and "spiritually bypassing" your "deep emotional unhealed wounds"? FFS... think! Think people think. Just like one get brainwashed in the whole delusion of spirituality and nondual bypassing, one can easily get brainwashed and deluded into materialism and this me-centric tendencies of daily grind. It doesn't hurt to open your heart for once... instead of being a callus git. (Don't get me wrong. I know when to be assertive and draw my boundaries... at the same time I know when to be emotional, aggressive and act like an empath. I personally think world needs more healing than shutting down doors of the heart.)
