Jack Lord adored his wife, Marie De Narde, though their initial meeting remains a mystery due to their private nature. Despite a notable 14-year age difference, Jack and Marie's love story blossomed, leading to their marriage in 1958.
Mr and Mrs Lord used to frequent the Honolulu shop I worked in the mid 1980s. They were both very nice people. Mr Lord was such a kind and classy man. You could tell they really loved each other. They were very philanthropic and raised lots of money for local charities. Lovely people. ❤
in 1972 my husband was stationed at the Naval Base in Honolulu. Hawaii 50 was huge at that time. I looked for Jack Lord all the time, as they filmed all over the island. I called it MaGarret hunting. I never ran into him, but a friend of mine did while he was with his wife at the mall one day. She told him about me and they found it humorous. He sent me and autograft saying Happy hunting. I treasure it until this day. I thought it was so thoughtful.
I'm 61, I've lived a good life and I continue to do so, but I would love to share, that when I was 25, and in the army I discovered my young wife was having an affair with a drug dealer.he got her hooked and she dumped me.well there's story turned into disaster but this is not about it.I met a wonderful woman,a career nurse for small infants newborns..we met for casual dates .after college classes, at the local lounges ,night spots, cozy restaurants , well after several dozen dates we became intimate.and it blossomed .into a caring loving and fulfilling relationship .I should have married her , the main hang-up was that she did not want children.maybe I should have been more understanding.however I saw children in the eyes of my future. I have some regrets in my life. Sherry was in fact when we got together, I was 25 and she was 14 years my senior.these those years difference didn't matter, she was a gorgeous woman both mentally and physically. sometimes I wonder how my life could have been different.I should have put her feelings before my own .even today I admit it was my fault.I should have married sherry,❤❤❤😢 my personal angel
I used to see Jack driving his huge convertible around Kahala Mall. It was a model that had the fins on it and was big like a boat. I never did see the top up. He wore the same Panama hat around as he does in the show and he favored Hawaiian print, button down the front shirts. He wasn't open and friendly like Tom Selleck; mostly just kept himself to himself. He was quite tall and much slimmer than onscreen; almost gaunt. We would encounter Tom Selleck out running Diamond Head. He always gave a sunny smile and a greeting. Nice guy.
Jack and wife did a lot of charity work and after they passed they will most of their fortune to Hawaiian charitable organizations. They really loved the island and it’s people, from everything I read.
Jack Lord was the reason why the original"Hawaii Five-O" went for12 seasons from 1968 to 1980. Was one of my favorite shows at that time. A total representation of a suave, debonair and very cool dude of whom directed some episodes as well.
My husband and I have been together 36 years and I'm 15 years older. My only regret is that it complicated when he would retire. Soo he retired 5 years early.
It’s more common for an older man to be with a woman young enough to be his daughter, whereas not so common to see an older woman with a man young enough to be her son.
We loved watching Hawaii 50, here in Ireland with my family members, and parents, many years ago. In the 80es. Fond memories. He sound like a loving gentleman who loved his wife deeply. Regards from Ireland 🇮🇪 💚
She is very beautiful 🌹 then and now, they both age gracefully ❤ beautifull couple 💑 💙 happy they had a lifetime of a happy marriage and genuinely loved eachother ❤
Yes! If it was the other way around, it wouldn't be a story here on RU-vid. Then again, he would have been praised for marrying someone 14 or 15 years their junior. 😅
Bespoke Love in Paradise!Who could ask for more! Hawaii Five"0" was a phenonenal program - even as a young person you couldn't help to be drawn to the show! My Hope and wishes for all the stars of this program is that they all lived their best lives in this very desirable part of the world!
As a kid in the 1970s, I recall a lot of women swooned over him on the original Hawaii 5-0 TV show. He certainly played an arrogant character, but I'm happy your posting proves him to have been a kind man.
Jack Lord had Alzheimer's and it's thought he may have had it as early as 1980, which maybe the reason he and his wife were reclusive after Hawaii 5-0 ended. It is sad that his first marriage didn't last and even sadder that his son(born during the first marriage) died at age 12 (due to hepatitis.)
As a relief mailman I was instructed to hand deliver Jack Lord’s mail. He lived in Kahala in a huge beautiful condo and was very cordial to everyone. The regular mailman would get a very good(expensive) Christmas gift from the couple…he made sure the relief carriers did a good job taking care of the clients. Gomer Pyle lived in the same complex 😊
I am now 70 . My wife and I met in 1978 and married in 1980 . I was 24 and just came home from the military and my wife was 36 . ( 12 years) We lived a wonderful life full of ups and downs . Everything was fine until about six years ago . Maybe that age difference should have been thought about 40+ years ago. Everything is good until one becomes ill, not physically in her case. I have lived most of my life with her and no matter how I’m treated I’m going to hang in there. Just remember sometimes an age difference can make a difference, later on .
I said it before and l say it again why do our social community thinks age has any thing to do with love when you love someone truly there is nothing you can do but cherish it , l’ve seen people criticize older women getting involved with younger men and vice versa and a lot of them have grown into timeless bonding there is nothing wrong with that ❤❤😊
Loved the original HAWAII FIVE-0. Never missed an episode & always.... always see the reruns. The cast & writers made this show the classic that it is today! IMO instead of a remake which was a BAD IDEA, they should have just aired the original. I actually have the theme song on a 45 record. The music creator out did himself. That music was so perfect for the opening of the show. HOLLYWEIRD NEEDS TO STOP 🛑 MAKING REBOOTS OFF CLASSIC TV & MOVIES. THEY ALWAYS SUCK!!!!! 🇺🇸
I remember when the reboot came out. It was okay. I emailed CBS and told them to include the wave. The wave was a bookend between the acts in the episodes. Have someone say, “Be there. Aloha.” And, not to kill off Chin Ho Kelly like the original series did. Chin Ho Kelly’s death was very tragic and sad. The one thing that was intriguing was the McGarrett family mystery. Casting Mark Dacascos as Wo Fat was inspired.
Thank you Jack Lord for opening the doors for everyone to see Hawaii if it wasn't for the show do you think people would really enjoy and love living and visiting paradise. Two angels in heaven right now.
I never knew this. I am 71. Jack Lord was ‘My’ patriot, via Story of a Patriot/Williamsburg, VA. I was a kid. He was my second crush after Robert E. Lee. My home was in the Appomattox area.
Good for her!!! Can’t say I’d do it. I don’t find younger men attractive in the least. I’ve always dated men 4+ years older. I married a man 7 years older and we’ve been together 42 years and I’ve never noticed our age difference even for one second….matter of fact, based on our personalities, you’d swear I was the oldest!! LOL
My grandpa's best friend married ab older woman like that and he was tall and handsome and she was short and plump but they loved each other deeply and remained married to old age. She became my grandmother's best friend also. I also knew them and she was funny and smart that's what he loved.
Heard Jack went to the same grammar school in Queens my kids went to. Principal gave Jack advice that put him on the straight & narrow. Watched him since his Stoney Burke days.
Goid for both of them! Just as late james garner from " Rockford files". Keeping his marriage & family Private!! Completely understandable! Respect that!
