So to answer your question, Medi-gel is used to revive your squad when they're downed. If you pick up medi gel while you're full, it's converted into credits instead. As for weapons upgrades, you find them in stores and sometimes scattered around as you play the game. There are sniper upgrades, yes. Once you find them, you have to research them at the laboratory.

(19:30) Patriarch is a fun, short side quest with some feel good potential. Missions will bring you back to Omega, anyway. (20:15) No assault rifles for Infiltrators, at least at the start. You can gain access to them later, but there's a trade-off involved. (23:40) If you run out of fuel, you'll start "burning" the valuable minerals you have collected for upgrading your equipment. (23:50) Project Overlord is DLC. There's no need to rush it, but no particular need to delay it, either. It's a self-contained side quest.

(1:04) The option on the middle left usually opens up more options to ask questions. Upper left and lower left are where your Paragon and Renegade options will be displayed. Options on the right progress the conversation, possibly to its end. Upper right options often give you Paragon points, while lower right options often give you Renegade points. The middle option usually gives neither, but occasionally you will get one or the other if all three positions on the right are not available.

With the salvage vendor and the other vendors... the way the Upgrades work in this game, you can find them basically everywhere in the game, so you have to look at every vendor to see if there's an upgrade that you want. It really doesn't matter if it's some salvage merchant or a high-tech Asari vendor - they all can have valuable upgrades for your gear.

Jack's great. A bit abrasive at first, but she develops over time. You can find many free upgrades on missions if you search thoroughly. Others you can buy for credits from vendors on the Citadel, Omega, Illium & Tuchanka. There are ways to obtain a discount before you buy though - could be a dialogue option or completing a mission. Once found or bought upgrades cost minerals to install them. You don't seem to have quite got the hang of the planet scanning for minerals yet. Move your cursor over a planet's surface until you find an area where a large spike appears on the graph to the right. Any spike that reaches around 75% up the graph is worth collecting. Find the sweet spot where the spike is at its highest and launch a probe. You'll get lots of that particular mineral. Keep doing that when you find any planets rich in resources as you'll need quite a lot of minerals of each kind to be able to install all the upgrades. In the meantime, I'd recommend focussing on any ship upgrades (some are very important for survival later on) and the ones for your favourite weapon/ability type and damage resistance. And if you're burning fuel to reach a planet rich in resources make sure you're stocked up with probes before you go, as you burn through them pretty quickly once you start scanning.

(4:20) Some research costs money, but most of it costs minerals that you collect through the planet-mining mini-game. (4:45) In ME2, you use medi-gel to revive your squadmates. I think it does restore your health and shields, too, but you can usually do that just by avoiding enemy fire for a few seconds. (6:00) Your squadmates can use weapons like the Eviscerator as well, so you might find it worth getting even if you won't use it yourself. Note that *you* can't equip assault rifles on Shepard (although you can unlock them later in the game, if you want).

If there's an "anomaly", the bright line on your cursor points to it. (26:00) You can put your weapon away, but I don't know how to do it on PC. (26:20) Twenty dog tags for the twenty crew members who went down with the original Normandy. I don't know where the term "dog tag" originated, but they're metal plates stamped with identifying information about the soldier wearing them. They're for identifying soldiers found deceased after a battle. (28:00) This side quest is always a solo mission. (29:30) Oh, Pressley. Glad you came around. (29:57) I believe this was where you would usually find Ash on the old Normandy.

(44:15) The criminals kept here ARE murderous psychopaths. Don't count on any gratitude from them. (44:38) Heavy pistols and sniper rifles are good against armor. Incinerate is also good against armor, and I think both you and Mordin have it. You have to complete Garrus's loyalty missionn to unlock his "armor-piercing ammo" power. (46:55) YMIR mechs explode spectacularly if they die from a head shot.

(55:50) The game encourages you to romance someone. You have advanced some with Jacob. You haven't really committed, though. (1:01:50) You can get Dr. Chakwas's "Serrice Ice Brandy" on Omega in Afterlife at one of the bars. (1:03:15) Sometimes you have to advance the plot before squadmates have anything new to say. (1:06:47) The Normandy SR2 is significantly larger than the Normandy SR1, so much so that it can't land on a planet like the original could.

The Normandy SR2 is actually nearly twice as big as the original SR1. That's the reason why it can't land on many planets (like the SR1 on Virmire did) and your squad has to use the shuttle all the time.

Glad you finally got to meet Jack! She's my favorite character in the series, hope you like her too! She starts off as not great, but she's been through a lot

(2:08) If you don't use the interrupt, you lose an opportunity to gain a bunch of Paragon points. In some future conversations, you will need to have a certain percent of the Paragon/Renegade points you could have gained up to that point in order to have Paragon/Renegade options available. (3:27) Sometime the options on the left side of the wheel -- upper or lower -- can get you Paragon/Renegade points, too.

If you kill the big mechs with a headshot they go nuclear when they deactivate.

ME2 combines Medigel with the Unity power. You still use Unity to revive squad mates when they fall in battle (as in ME1), but when you do, it will use one Medigel pack for each squad mate you are reviving. If you have no Medigel, you can't use Unity.

Those two novels in the shop are also real novels you can buy in real life. The Revalations novel is set before the events of ME1, the Ascension novel is set after the events of ME1 but before the events o ME2.

i get that the Recon Hood has benefits and all but not being able to see Shepard's face when outside Normandy kind of takes the fun out of the game

You seem a little overwhelmed like only now you're realizing how much the game has to offer and how much there is to get hold of in terms of knowledge and lore, game mechanics and character handling. Well, yes - the game (series) rewards curiosity and meticulousness, exploration and carefulness; and it does punish rashness in various ways. I hope it doesn't make you want to give up, but rather play again - more slowly, taking in as much as you can find. Rash judgement is as harmful in this game as IRL.
