RIP Missy. Our girl Missy passed away yesterday. She was 15 years old. I wish every dog could have as idealized a life as hers growing up on the farm and being loved by a kind family.
Ours pass away a month ago to cancer on her heart she was 13 years young! It hurts so much she was loved by the whole family she was so sweet and funny. Our jack gave us so much to be thankful for. Sorry for your lost i know how u feel. They are our babies!
Our Jacks are both 14. I’m dreading that day. Edit: Today is February 11, 2020. We had to say goodbye to our wonderful Jack Russell named Jane. She gave us 14 1/2 years of happiness, craziness and joy. We miss her terribly. RIP sweetheart.
Was never a dog guy until I seen some dogs so amazing things and have a real life personality. RIP missy . Hope her bloodline lives on . Beautifully intelligent dog 🐶
what a good baby, may she rest in peace catching fish up there in that big lake in the sky. you guys gave her a beautiful life and i'm sure she loved you back for it and appreciated every second
+kev pearson okay we have a puppy now we were going to get one when my old dog (Timmy) was alive but then he became ill we got him yesterday his name is archie haha thanks for asking :)
They are very difficult to train though and they require a lot more play time and excercise than most other breeds do. When it is given to them they become bored and destructive. Plus they usually do not get along with other animals or even its own kind. So I wouldn't recommend having a cat in the same house as it. Otherwise if you fufil it needs, it can be a great dog to have. They are very good watch dogs and are natural hunters. Thus how it was able to catch the fish. That's it hunting instinct.
this is my jack russles dream, she only achieves this ice fishing when we reel a fish in and she thinks she caught it...makes it fun to throw them back, she gets a few.
i adopted my one eyed jack a few years ago and she is the most loving dog , so many people in this area i live hate her just because she is a jack russel and poke fun at her one eye , a few of these people own big dogs and say things like id like to see my dog rip your rat of a dog apart , i protect my little dog at all times , i feel so angry that people like that are allowed to have a dog with that mentality , excuse my bad spelling here.
Im a big dog type of guy, but after playing with a jrt, i can see what all the love is about :) btw the riping your dog apart thing is terrible and they should have their dogs taken away from them
the boss A Jack Russel would face a lion. You should get her a little eye patch. The big dog owners sound stupid, too stupid to own a Jack Russell. They have very high i.q.'s and aren't suitable for stupid owners. Pardon my french, but, fuck them.....Jack Russels are one of the greatest dogs you could ever hope to have.
So sorry to hear this! 🙁 She was a beautiful dog. One of our dogs is. Jack Chi and the Jackrussell side of her is so playful and loving!! They are an awesome breed. Missy's fish catch was epic! 🙌🏽 I know you guys must miss her!
Mine tries to roll in the nastiest stuff it can find because perfume... I wish she would find a nice pile of bread to roll around in instead of the other stuff her nose takes her to!
Mine would just eat the bate, then sit on her behind with her two front paws waving in the air like she's praying, begging for more. Not to mention that if a fish would accidentally end up on land she would either lick it to death or try to nurture it like a puppy. Jacks are a special kind of breed, I tell ya! LMAO
I had a dog, that if the ball landed in 2" of water, he refused to see it. He thought water an entirely different dimension and just never saw past the silvery sheen.
they are quite like cats, independent, and hunters to the core, very intelligent too. Ours is too noisy to catch anything though, he tries but the prey always hear him before they see him.
Lots of Jack Russells are exceptional I think, they are full of character! She is well cool. :-) My JRT is very cute too but they all have in insatiable urge to KILL! lol
O wow! What an awesome dog she was. Stumbled upon this video. Looking for a hunting dog for birds. I have already have a blue heeler and know all too well the time it takes for a dog with lots of energy. “A good cattle dog is a tired cattle dog” RIP Missy. I Can only hope and pray that my terrier is half the hunting dog You were!!
Hello! Missy (RIP) has almost identical markings and features as my Jack Russel (mix?). It looks like she could have been his mother or sibling? Our dog is almost 12 years old (estimated born 2009) If you don't mind, I'd appreciate of you could give me some more information about her. My dog came from Missouri and went to a rescue in Michigan, where I adopted him from. That's all the info I have for my dog, and we haven't found any other similar looking dogs, as it doesn't appear to be a pure Jack Russell.
The next time you take your dog to the vet, ask him if it's wise to let a dog eat fresh fish. If he is reasonably knowledgeable, he may tell you never to allow him to eat it. There is a parasite in some fresh fish that is harmless to humans, birds, cats and bears, but could be deadly to a dog. I no longer remember the name of the damned thing. There is no cure because by the time it is discovered that he has it, it is too late. I believe it eventually affects his brain. No joke. I read about this about three years ago. My brother's dog died suddenly several years ago. He had a habit of snapping at fresh fish when they went hunting and often would eat one.
Tacks Sherbo You're both right and wrong. There is a certain type of bacteria, present in fish that swim up river to spawn (salmon or trout for example) that will infect dogs and kill pretty quickly if not treated. It's just a type of food poisoning. It is easily treatable and the dog will show obvious signs of being unwell within a couple of days. In fact I believe it is called 'Salmon Poisoning Disease'... The bones are not an issue as dog's stomach acid is designed to digest bones, especially small fish bones. I think it depends on how well the dog chews them up. Cooked bones of any type are bad as the splinter and can get stuck in the gut.
Nicholas Hall The unfortunate part is that it is often too late to help the animal. The fortunate part is that now, as a result of these postings, more people are aware as to what to look for if their dogs like to chow down on spawning fish.
saintquinn007 If I had a dog that was important to me and my kids, I would be sure he had a full stomach BEFORE we went fishing. I'd sure hate to lose him to critters in a raw fish.
I love fishing for blue gill. Aggressive little fish but are definitely fun to fish for. My oldest daughter when she was little said bluegill are better to fish than bass. She said bass gave up to fast
beautiful place! though i have been yucked off rock quarries.....no telling whats been gotten rid of (.....) in that beautiful place, probobly during some night...i hope your quarry is not..."yucky"...
Mine used to catch mice in our garage and afterwards would stick his snoot in a box of pecans we had and would crack them open and eat em up as a treat
My JRT likes to hunt squirrels, but I have to keep her away from the cats. She almost got a robin this morning and I know she could've caught it,too. Jack russels can catch just about anything.
