We talked about that scene in Potc3 at 43:00, he didnt abandon any ship there, he tried to abandon Elizabeth and the rest, and he didnt return to save them because he wanted it, but because they had the maps. Thats not an argument at all, Elisabeth is probably the one with the highest moral standards, so of course shes sad about killing someone she thinks is good. Again: You can have that opinion, if you want to ship them, ship them. But dont come at me with random insults like "grow up", or with arguments that dont make sense in the slightest way like "She was sad killing a friend", or "The compass always pointed at him/her". It just doesnt make sense... Obviously, no one in the production or screenwriting thought of that relationship as much as people do here.

I remember being a kid and being heartbroken when she tricked him. She loved him because he represented everything she shouldn't love. And he loved her because she reminded him that people can be kind and true.
Funny, what you said is basically one of the most common structures to write a romantic couple, give them things in common, both love freedom, he is a pirate and she has always been fascinated by pirates, however, it is necessary that a couple also have drastically different things, she is idealistic and he is not a man very attached to morals, both complement each other and balance the differences by and the things in common reinforce this bond, until today I don't understand how a couple without any construction like Will and she got together when they were better as separate characters
@@deborah1463 I also think you need a strong contrast of characters to have a strong attraction like dark and light, good and evil..they were perfect for this: he as a "villain" or anti hero (a pirate/evil) that is a good man in the bottoms of his heart, but yet morally corrupted by his ego and she instead very moralistic/light (good manners, rich,) still not corrupted by the world..only she could change/redeem him. There was a strong character development of Jack after meeting Elisabeth...anyway I hope there is a new movie based on a story like this..it would be so hot

Of course, I've already watched all the Pirates of the Caribbean films, but even when Jack saved Elizabeth in the first film and then threatened her, I had the feeling that they would be a great match and I still wish that they would come together.
Will is only a third weel for emphazise Elizabeth and Jack's unconditional love. Jack always tricked will but never tricked Elizabeth. He always supported her. Even after her betrayal he still care for her. That smile after kiss in dead man's chest is great example.
Wow. This compilation set to music was absolutely awesome. So very sorry Disney for some reason didn't see what so many of us apparently did; that Jack and Elizabeth's relationship from the very beginning set the course for a life-changing (for both of them) journey and experience. Isn't that what true Love is supposed to do, after all? Make us better, more well-rounded people when we find our "better half" ?? Jack and Elizabeth were without a doubt each other's better half. What's crazy and makes it even harder to understand is that DISNEY created these characters and WROTE the movies!! THEy fleshed out Elizabeth's and Jack's relationship much more than Elizabeth's and Will's. Makes no sense. Honestly, I was flabbergasted once I realized that Elizabeth and Jack would NOT end up together. Crazy. And stupid.
Will loved her, but it was ALWAYS Jack that she trusted the most. If anyone missed this love story over 5 movies I kinda dunno what to tell you, but this montage brought me to tears.
When I was a child I didn't notice their chemistry obviously, I just watched it for Captain Jack Sparrow. But because of this MASTERPIECE I want to rewatch all the movies from this perspective! I love every part of it but moment 1:57 is PURE PERFECTION! 👏😍

It’s in the 2nd movie, Dead Man’s Chest, when Elizabeth kissed Jack to “trick him” so she could chain him to the ship. She knew the kraken only wanted Jack and the rest of them could get away.
Seriously. They may have only had one kiss together but it was one of the hottest I've ever seen on screen. And even without kissing or even touching their chemistry was crazy!!
tbh i thought they were gonna end up together considering their last names “Jack SPARROW” and “Elizabeth SWANN”; which are two completely different birds with a sparrow (according to some sources) represented empowerment and creativity while swan symbolizing chastity and elegance. (they were basically opposites and stuff like that) elizabeth secretely yearned for freedom and jack was the person compatible to accomplish that desire. the writers definitely thought about this and there is in no way that their names was a coincidence. they were originally planned to end up together and they didnt just go to that route 🥲

And I actually think I read somewhere that in the original book or comic book version of the POTC franchise, before the movies ever filmed, that jack and elizabeth DO end up together. And not only that. Will's supposed son in the later films was actually Jack's son in the book version! How about THEM apples?? 🙆♀️ Maybe that's why we are in no way wrong about the direction that their relationship was always going in the movie version. Other than her seemingly moving towards him to kiss him again when they found him after searching for him in the 3rd movie, and he backed away in understandable apprehension, as he said "Once was more than enough," it was like the kiss nor their bonding never happened. So frustrating. And insulting of Disney. If after that understandable interaction, considering the circumstances the last time they saw each other, for heaven's sake!, there should at LEAST have been ONE scene in which they could have talked it out together!! Well when they whole Amber Heard trial happened, Keira Knightly WAS named among the women Johnny had been romantically involved with. 😮 So... And I personally think KK is WYA more beautiful and attractive and sexy than WR and AH.

I think it's so mean of Disney that Johnny Depp is no longer allowed to be in Pirates of the Caribbean because he was one of the reasons the films were so successful. And I don't think fewer people would come to the movies if Johnny Depp was in it. He may have lost a lawsuit against the Sun but everywhere I watch videos of him the comments are positive and I haven't met anyone hating Johnny Depp now because of the Amber Heard lawsuit!! I will watch Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and also Grindelwald's Crimes without Johnny De pp don't look at it because I think it's completely unfair and incomprehensible!!

I agree with everything you said EXCEPT the "platonic" theory. All the things you said points to why they DID belong together. Would there have been moments they did not trust each other? Probably. But that would have made even greater fodder for exceptional movie plots. In the end, we know they would have ended up back together because their bond WAS so strong. We even saw glimpses of it in the 3 1st movies. There were many times they did not trust each other but when the chips were down they were always there for each other, in the end.
Words cannot describe how much I wanted them together they both desired each other and wanted someone who really understood Jack deserved this but the plot was so sad 😭
I love this ship more than Elizabeth and Will. I think Jack has a romantic feelings for Elizabeth , there's more deep inside beyond that. But I guess some things are just not meant to be, they are destined to be partner, but still sad though.
