@@user-uq7jm4ix1n "The good part of life is dying and being allowed to kiss a celestial dictator's feet." Nah. Michael Bolton is way cooler than your god.
@@Citr0wned Same but with the other line. I can't help it but bursting out singing "Keira Knightleyyyyyy!" everytime she appears on something or someone says her name
My parents showed me this when it first came out when I was 11 and the “NOW BACK TO THE GOOD PART” made me cry of laughter. And now I have to revisit this song once every couple of months to give me the will to live, thank you Michael Bolton 🙏
My best friend showed me this when we were 7 or 8 (so like a year or two after it came out) and I remember not knowing almost any of the film references except for Jack Sparrow, and not knowing what any of the explicit words meant, lol. Good times - and this song genuinely slaps even now. One of my favorite parodies. Edit: I also learned who Michael Bolton AND Lonely Island were through this song. Imagine my surprise after watching Brooklyn Nine Nine, watching this music video, and realizing Andy Samberg was in both. So crazy.
I can't believe its been so long (and somehow I memorized this song including the uh-huh) when it came out. :D This is my playlist when I was in my old toxic workplace.
This song singlehandedly turned Michael Bolton from a punchline of a kind of funny Office Space joke into someone a younger generation can unironically appreciate. Yeah, it's a Lonely Island song, so what he's singing is goofy, but the power of his voice is undeniable. Not only does the song not take the easy way out and just make fun of him - it 100% doesn't work without him.
This song is legendary & a masterpiece so well thought out & put together. It single handedly made Michael Bolton cool & known to a younger audience that didn't know his music. It reignited his career not that he wasn't a legend already! Which is what the song writer of this song wrote it for plus it was truely hilarious!
@@terracottapie 100% It's a word that anyone would likely only know if they were a huge fan, and for him to say it twice like of course everyone knows what I'm talking about just pushes the "no Shts given" wild and free attitude. Just love that this exists. So much happy.
@@dchiznit209 you know that shot of Jack turning his head and smirking as the British are trying to intercept his escape? That's Bolton after listening to the boys' track.
Im so sorry for your loss i havent had a family member like a brother die but i had my childhood best friend die at 20 death sucks keep listening to this for him im sure hes looking down at you from heaven
@@donkeysaurusrex7881 plus who thought they'd ever hear Michael say "Her womb is polluted, this towns a pussy just waiting to be fucked" in their lifetime. was probably just as shocking like when people went to a Bob Saget comedy routine expecting to see Danny Tanner, and saw what Bob's comedy really was. Foul
I like to imagine that this is an accurate depiction of Michael Bolton in the studio. Just singing whatever he wants no matter how much he gets interrupted until everyone submits to him.
The fact that they got Bolton to sing, "This whole town's a p*ssy, just waiting to get f*cked", is one of the greatest things to happen musically in my lifetime.
No joke, this is my favorite song of all time. I'm not the hugest pirates of the Caribbean fan, I'm not the hugest Michael Bolton fan, but this is my favorite song of all time. It's just got what I need
I saw Michael Bolton in concert a month ago and he made a joke about how he thought he was being cast as Hercules rather than being hired to write the theme song… the man can be Tony Montana and Erin Brokovich!! Of course he could be Hercules. All things aside, it’s been 12 years and I still show this to people. It’s fantastic and brings me joy every time. Bolton forever!
*9 years in, and I'm still trying to figure out why The Lonely Island is interrupting Michael Bolton's song about Jack Sparrow (feat. Forrest Gump, Erin Brockovich, and Tony Montana).*
+megazwatcher this is the tale of tony Montana hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahhahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahabhahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahhahahahahahahahahaah
I can’t believe this has existed so long and I just found out about it yesterday. The best thing I have seen in years. I never dreamed in the mid 90s that someday I would be saying, unironically, that Michael Bolton is awesome.
@@Orangeflava A jester is a paid fool in a king or queen’s court. It’s similar to the joker you see in a deck of cards. So “ the jester of Tortuga” is just a fancy way of saying “the funny guy from Tortuga”, but the phrasing is really great.
It´s so freaking good and hilarious the way Bolton starts off with some small background vocals, like he´s really on board and feeling the rap flow😄Timberlake "that was kinda wierd but we´r back in the club" trying desperatley to regian the lead, but by then Bolton is completely lost, which climaxes as he keep closing he´s eyes🤣🤣😂
Yeah, true that. I've always loved how this whole song basically is "screw the popcultures need for shallow values and fake personas, time for a mans romance bitches"
Reminds me of that one time when we were supposed to give a report on a celebrity for English class but I had been reading a bunch of Chuck Norris "facts" so I just told those for 5 minutes straight instead... and passed regardless...
Still coming back to this one, time and again. It's some of the most brilliant writing I've ever seen, crammed into a mere 3 minutes. And the performances! This vid is an all-timer.
