well , i heard in an interview done with benny the jet that jackie chan told benny he wanted the scene and fight to be like that , that benny gave his all in that fight , and that jackie was ready to take the beating for the scene to be this great , this is the outcome of it all these years later still holds .
@0:23 A simple spin kick but yet looks so awesome, not sure if was the timing or just the way it was done but I always rewound this over and over...Benny The Jet, what an extremely underrated legend.
This has got 2 be one of Jackies best competitions. Especially when it looks like he's actually having a hard time competing against Benny, who seems 2 be jus as fast as Jackie. Plus the expression on Jackies face is knowing he's gonna have a hard time with this one.
Josh Awesome but in reality Benny would mop the floor with Jackie chan . Benny is 67-0 , I wish he'd be young now and took mcgregor to school and took his lunch money
m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BHk_y_y9wsM.html. A loss to a thaiboxer. Still amazing fighter and would kill Jackie with his boxing, kicking and Judo of course.
@@philipcoffman4372 Bennie and Jackie agreed throw down for real in Wheels on Meals just for a scene and gave each other a good match, even hit one an other in the face.
one of the most insane and underrated moves in action film, was when Jackie dodged a kick from Benny by falling back on that concrete slab and kipping up INSTANTLY. So fast and insane!!!
My hot take is that Bruce Lee would have not done a fight scene like this one, because he took himself too seriously. That's why the older I get the more I appreciate Jackie's style, humor, and willingness to show opponents that might actually be a threat to him. Lee's scenes were always so one-sided. The Jackie vs. Benny scene is one of my favorite cinema fights of all time.
With all respect but thats not really true. Let s go through Lee s 4 1/2 films when his characters were the protagonists: 1) The Big Boss aka Fists of Fury Progatonist: Cheng, Chaoan (Bruce Lee) Antagonist: Mr. Mi (Han, Yingchieh aka Hon, Yingit) Mr Cheng struggled very much with Mr Mi. He gets hit by him many times and even slashed with a knife. Cheng only wins in a very close fight. 2) Fist of Fury aka The Chinese Connection Protagonist: Chen, Zhen (Bruce Lee) Antagonists: Suzuki (Riki Hashimoto), Petrov (Bob Baker) Chen has much trouble with Petrov. He defeats Suzuki with a Nunchaku vs a Katana. 3) Way of the Dragon aka Return of the Dragon Protagonist: Tang, Lung (Bruce Lee) Antagonist: Colt (Chuck Norris) Even if Lung wins in the end, he gets floored by Colt three times in the beginning. 4) Enter the Dragon Protagonist: Lee (Bruce Lee) Antagonist: Mr Han (Shieh, Kien aka Shek, Kin) Han has the big advantage becaus of his big steel claw. So maybe this fight is bad to judge. 5) Game of Death Protagonist: Hai, Tien (Bruce Lee) Antagonists: Escrima Master (Dan Inosanto); Hapkido Master (Ji, Hanjae); Giant (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar). Hai defeats the Escrima and Hapkido Masters without too much effort, but he bararely wins against the 7'2"=218cm giant. So you cant really say the fights of Lee's movie characters are one-sided. He gets hit and hurt by almost anyone.
This is all true and I agree with the fights, although usually Lee defeats his opponents with ease until near the end of the movies where he often rarely takes a fair hit from an antagonist, but I disagree about the Hapkido Master fight being easy for Hai Tien, the allies constantly distracted him which made him sustain more damage from the Hapkido Master, so the fight wasn't fully fair, however when Hai Tien eventually breaks his back, he is limping and is in clear pain, he does somewhat recover before fighting the giant (Mantis is his name in the 1972 version), but he has many bruises and takes many hits even without distractions although he mostly dominates throughout the fight, he takes around as many hits as when he takes on Mantis.@@chrisbach1533
This fight scene looked like a sparring session love these guys the real deal grew up watching Jackie Chan 1 of a kind and took alot of risks doing his own very dangerous stunts and thanks God he's still with us💯💯💯💯💪💪👊👊👊👊
Arguably one of the best martial arts fight you'll ever see. Jackie and Bennie the Jet put on a show that probably was painful to shoot but you couldn't ask for more.
Trivia: While the overall fight is highly choreographed, the impact of those punches were real. The two agreed to hit each other for real and add as much power as possible to make it all look realistic. Jackie was a perfectionist, and Benny on the other hand was a professional fighter. Through his translator (Since Jackie did not speak a lot of English that time) he, asked Benny if he would let him hit him with full contact or power. Benny said, "Oh yeah sure, this is what I do for a living". Afterwards, Jackie asked if Benny could kick him for real. Benny asked if Jackie was sure. He noded yes, And so he did, and it sent Jackie flying across the hall. Benny got worried that it pissed Jackie off and he would fire his ass. Instead Jackie gave Benny a thumbs up and from there on, they agreed to hit each other for real. Benny of course was holding back, but Jackie pretty much delivered his blows with power. Which is why it all looks too real.
It can literally feel the power of those punches and kicks....that's why I keep on coming back to see this fight scene ever once in a while...but thanks for the trivia anyways... appreciate it...
I got to see The Jet fight 3-4 times growing up in the 70’s @ The LA Forum & The Olympic. A true pioneer & really the first American to incorporate Thai techniques
0:33 I don't know which version this dub is from, but the sound effect of that chair scraping across the floor is in surround sound! Listen with headphones and you'll hear it switch from one ear to the other!
it's good that they made Benny basically kick the shit out of Jackie cuz The Jet is a real fighter and that's probably what would actually happen. thank Bruce Lee for that: prior to him, martial artists in films were actors. Lee was the one to change the industry standard.
Jackie was always hardcore and still is now.He can take all kinds of beatings like a man and still manage to fight back he's bad ass asf I'll give em that.
@@liberals_destroy_everythin2497 The kick was meant to go by the candles and make them flicker, they weren't expecting it to *snuff them out*, because that's obviously insane, but it happened so it got left in. They didn't get a whole lot of extra takes with this one since Jackie eventually told Benny to hit him for real since he was totally unused to working in front of the camera, so he was seriously roughed up by the end!
In the first Jackie fights like he's crazy. In the 2nd,it's like he's desperately struggling to come up with something creative/ unexpected enough, fighting someone that's his equal, to win. Improv
Just met Benny the jet this weekend it was a great experience meaning someone like him hearing a lot of stories from the past behind the scene things that no one knows anything about was great
2:58 Wow, that kick man. I don't know the name of the movie but i do feel this one take inspiration from the one with Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris since Jackie changes his way to fight because he was loosing at some point. Regardless of that, damn, this is so cool ❤
Seeing both bests fighters in the movies. Brings my attention two action professional guys beating each other up and so quick and flexible. Doing the real stunts
@@danilopereiramemes7092 Jackie is incredible, he always has been. I favorite is still Bruce. And I think Brandon Lee could have been just as good, but I heard his training was far and between. I really like the guy in On Bak also, I can't think of his name.
Jackie always has the most believable fights. I’m tired of watching a martial arts movie and watching the hero decimate all opposition. I love how in his fights he gets fucked up.
this is the best movie fight of Benny Urquidez ,in fact he was a kickboxing full contact champion,in the 70, Jackie Chan said is the best of his fight in movies.
Wow. Never saw 'The Jet' before, in action. He's pretty impressive. Interesting that in a large part of the fight, they attacked at the same time. Makes for an interesting choreography. If you read 'Kung Fu Magazine' as a kid, you know about Benny 'The Jet' Urquidez. I believe he did well in 'no contact' and then 'full contact.' He probably never hears the end of it, from other great fighters who were around only for 'full contact.' So . . uh . . Jet . .you like 'full contact' more or 'no contact' more?' Haven' t seen Jackie Chan in a long time. I used to watch all his movies, around 'Rumble in the Bronx' time. He's a strange guy, in some fight scenes. This fight scene was really high level.
