I don't understand the nay-sayers elsewhere on RU-vid trying to say that Jackie's voice has been destroyed. There is evidently something wrong with their hearing, because Jackie's voice is more beautiful each time I hear her. An absolutely stunning performance. One of the most beautiful singers in the world.
At least part of that comes from her singing at the National Memorial Day Concert where she sang with respect for the occasion. Evidently some people don't understand that wanting her to 'belt' the song. Shrug.
I saw this performance live and I can assure everyone that her voice was in top shape. She takes a short break every third song and doesn't push it. I do want to give props to the Palladium, a concert hall built around classical music. Musically , there was no bad seat in the house.
What a wonderful privilege you have to be able to see Jackie sing live. I hope to see her live one day too, but it may be some time, as I live in the UK and need to save up first.
Wondering about this "World Tour" that she is supposed to do .. from a promo for the Album it says .... "Awakening will be released on the Portrait Records imprint on September 30, 2014 coinciding with an International tour."
John Doe She did this one the night before in Milwaukee too. It was Sensational. If any of her critics had heard that live, whether constructive critics or otherwise, they'd feel pretty foolish afterwards.
One gentleman just commented that he drove 600 miles to attend this concert and that the trip was worth every penny. Jackie needs that type of support. Jackie has music releases coming out beginning in mid September. Every time something new comes out, I purchase a copy for each of my five relatives hoping that, someday, they will appreciate the voice of the worlds finest female singer. Please purchase her stuff.
It is a pity that some of her fans do not understand the importance of purchasing the CD, DVD, and on line media. The recent release of The Rains of Castamere is an example of this. Her fans do not understand the harm they are doing to Jackie by posting what is real merchandise, with royalties. It is not the same as a sneak peek on a concert. Everybody wants to listen her beautiful voice and watch her beautiful image - but for free. We MUST support her (and her family) by actual actions. Sure I've downloaded everything about Jackie during the last 3 years, but I purchased everything as well - even living in Brazil. Regards.

Every time Jackie releases a single, a CD, DVD and for the first time for me, concert tickets I buy it, Even though I download everything I can from YT for posterity, I have purchased every piece of recorded material Jackie has produced except Prelude To A Dream. Unlike other genres where artists release singles that get massive amounts of radio air play Jackie doesn't have that advantage so it's up to us fans to help get the word out any way we can!
I have addressed many topics of the day at many sites on the net. Google me to find access to these sites. My favorite is Google+ which consolidates some of my commentary. To adequately bring my messages forward, I use a minimum but still lengthy wordage. Unfortunately, most people do not like to read more than several sentences. I have made a habit of quizzing people at department stores about if they know who Jackie Evancho is. The vast majority say they have never heard the name. That's impossible to believe. At her NMLDC performances, the camera shows the faces of the audience that explains her lack of notoriety. They have spaced out non engaged look on their faces. All Jackie wants to do is become super famous by attracting an audience (fans) that purchase huge quantities of music CDs and DVDs. They also pay for attending massive noisy concerts. Not for listening to the music but pretending that they are excited for being there. If they will not come to her singing the genre of pop music she does now, she will take on the massive challenge of going to them with the music entertainment they like. I have detailed this under one of the most recent videos. Keep supporting the most capable singer of all time. Spread the word.
vadinhopsc On the other hand, without many of the RU-vid videos you see of present day performers, very few would even be aware that such performances even exist. A double edged sword, if you will. RU-vid is also a source of "Free" advertising for a performer.
katzparov Yes, I agree with you that some restrictions even go against the artist . But we must differentiate what is something already known, or parts of a concert, and so on, which actually promote the artist, from something brand new, made to be sold, that is, actual merchandise. If we really love an artist, reproducing their stuff without permission, for free, really harms the artist. Isn't it true? For myself, even living in Brazil, I've purchased everything by Jackie, except Prelude, wich is beyond my possibilities. Mind you, I've just preordered Awakening. Amazon price: US$ 11.98 ; my costs : US$ 38.50. Very expensive for me, but Jackie deserves everything. Regards.
This aria has no tolerance for error, you must immediately and completely nail that very first long initial high note, followed by the lower register passage, with no warm up to get into the song, or the whole thing fails. Jackie nails it perfectly.
That's why OMF is Jackie's signature. There is no place for error. I love watching people holding their breath at Jackie's concerts, cause they know - the very first note determines the whole rendition. She never fails. Each time after Handel smiles from heaven and Caruso hides behind a cloud.

albertz LOL last sentence is funny. I take it Caruso had trouble hitting that note w/o scooping?? I've heard Jackie sing OMF many times and she hits every note, including the opening note, perfectly(she has perfect pitch).

I would travel the globe to hear Jackie sing but unfortunately at this time I don't have the capacity to do so youtube and her CDs/DVDs fill that void for now!

Jackie may not even know who Tarja is. She has never said anything about that genre of music. I would love to hear Jackie and Tarja in a duet but I'm not sure their vibratos match very well. Tarja's voice sounds like an old woman now, her vibrato is so wide.

OK folks, she was astounding. She went beyond the age of uncertainty, when changes could alter her voice. But how beautiful and that should be dialed down, indeed. For a woman that is appropriate, but for men to make comments, should be about performance and quality of her voice. Every time I read comments with male connotations saying that I feel puzzled or disturbed. Write something from which one could draw insight about development into this kind of directions, but not about personal grudges on comment section, please. Once again - her polished voice went beyond that how it should be called? . . .extra dimensional beautiful vibrant sound?
I haven't loved everything Jackie has done, but this is one of her best performances I have heard - this aria suits her far better than "O mio babbino caro"
Jackie may have held that first note longer in other performances, but she's done some where she held it less too. On the NPR version at age 11 it was barely over 5 seconds. On her song Dormi Jesu from Awakening she holds the last high note almost a full 10 seconds. She can do anything she wants vocally yet. Remember she is probably being cautioned to not overdo it on some notes while she progresses towards adulthood. On one video of the NA you can see what looks like her mom signally to Jackie to cut her 'free' octave jump note shorter.
She has to decide between holding the note long, then taking a breath before singing the rest of the line, or holding the note shorter and singing the whole line without taking a breath. Personally, I like the longer holding of the note. I don't really care about when she breathes.
Kids2Classic who did the outstanding youtubes of Voice Types 1 - Zulu to Jackie Evancho and Voice Types 2, Bel-Canto - Jackie Evancho commented in the former that "JME has the purest voice wave-shape we have ever seen!" I love hearing and seeing it.

What's in question is an adult stranger referring to a 14 year old girl as a beautiful or gorgeous. Now we have people here referring to her as a beautiful young woman. Since you are familiar with at least one dictionary, may I suggest you look up the word "woman"... and you'll find that it's and ADULT female person.. not an adolescence. While you're at it, look that word up and you'll find a difference between the two. Pass it on to her over the top fans. Totally inappropriate.

People are placid, disengaged and/or not capable of rendering a cohesive response about any subject. If it wasn't for Mike and Jay, this video would be absent of useful information. They both had problems with the information I posted here. Jay questioned the validity of all of it. I searced my data base, ad nauseam, to find one of the several places where Jackie said being super famous was one of her goals in the future. I found one on an interview I found at my site on Vimeo. What is so wrong with this being her primary motivating force? Nothing. I have gone over a lot of interviews and will post my updated view about her career. As I'm typing this, I see a thumbnail indicating "The Rains Of Castamere" Sample. Is it more free stuff? I will post my updated review at the "Somewhere" NMC 2014 video.
