No person that is extremely successful possesses humility. What he did possess in this case, however, was honesty. He was part of a crap show and he knew it. And it was genius for him to come on the next week and apologize for it. Humility had nothing to do with it.

He wasn't kidding about the game show format bombing. I've seen it. It was as bad as you could imagine. This saved his contract with CBS (he had a deal after he retired the Jackie Gleason Show for an hour each week). He tried a talk-show format before finally returning to the variety show with his "American Scene Magazine" show (basically the skits were based on "articles" in that "Magazine". Then when he moved to Miami Beach ("The Sun and Fun Capital of the World" per Johnny Olson), he revived the old "Jackie Gleason Show" name

I love when people like yourself make a short sharp political toned quip that sounds good on the surface but actually is bullshit. First of all, as Jackie himself explains: Hollywood lacked humility at this time... but he didn't. That's why he literally said, "This show may be the first of it's kind and the last of it's kind." You ever watch Latterman? His entire act was owning one fuckup after another.

@fromthesidelines
@fromthesidelines Год назад
Unfortunately, the network- especially president Jeff "I KNOW what I'm doing!" Zucker- preferred Jay over Conan when it came to hosting "THE TONIGHT SHOW". When Zucker briefly moved Jay into prime-time with his own program, he screwed up big time, as the affiliates complained that Leno was dragging down their late local news' ratings by appearing *before* them at 10pm(et). And, sadly, Conan's ratings at 11:35 were not the same as Jay's. That's why Leno was restored to "TONIGHT", and O'Brien was shown the door.

This, and it's immediately preceding part: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cwrJsOZv32M.html ...comprises one of the best half hours of Television I have ever seen. This is very reminiscent (perhaps the actual genesis of) the seated monologue he used to do to open his "American Scene Magazine" variety show through the '60's. Imagine if CBS execs, having seen this (largely off-the-cuff) unprecedented apology for the previous week's stinkaroo, said, "Y'know... He has a sponsor, and he's great with the commercials, when they have to be done... Why don't we just give him a half hour a week to do this?" Just imagine...

@@freeguy77, do you remember how hungry you got midmorning after eating cereal for breakfast??? I remember that when I was a kid. Insulin spikes up high after eating the high sugar cereal, then in as little as two hours later your starving, since there’s nothing left, because what wasn’t initially needed by the body has been stored as fat. It also causes attention deficit disorder. Did you ever get type two diabetes? Are your eyes damaged from diabetes? Do you have high blood pressure? Are you obese? Do you have kidney damage by eating a high sugar diet? Do you have swelling in your extremities, especially your lower? Smoking causes the damage to show up sooner, that’s all.
@domenicsandri2740
@domenicsandri2740 Год назад
@@freeguy77, breakfast means, breaking a fast, meaning your overnight fast. That means your stomach is empty. Is it wise to put sugar into an empty stomach? Of course not. There are basically three types of nutrient sources. They are fat, protein and carbohydrates. Fat and protein takes more work to digest, carbohydrates get digested almost immediately. Fats is broken down info fatty acids. Protein is broken down into amino acids. Carbohydrates are broken down into glucose (the natural form of sugar). It is best to eat fat plus protein first, then some simple carbs. Mixing carbs with the fat and protein in the stomach will slow it’s digestion, so insulin doesn’t shoot up fast. It instead climbs slowly over time and later descends slowly. This causes hunger to no come back for a long time. It causes the mind to stay alert. It doesn’t cause buildup of fat and it doesn’t cause the loss of muscle. Dump cereals. Skip breakfast and eat a hearty lunch with lots of fat and some protein. Keep carbs simple and not overwhelming. Also, think of fruit as a desert.
