Clip from JACKIE ROBINSON, a film by Ken Burns, Sarah Burns, and David McMahon examining the life and times of Jack Roosevelt Robinson, who lifted an entire race, and nation, on his shoulders when he crossed baseball’s color line in 1947. This clip explores how reporters who once sung Jackie Robinson's praises turned, calling him a rabble-rouser and urging him to be a player, not a crusader, when he became more vocal about discrimination in baseball.

I love how only Rachel Robinson told the truth. He was competitive. Not angry!!! And yet all the rest called him angry, just like those that called him that in his day. God bless Jackie and Rachel. We are all blessed to have had them.

You got to like the fire and passion in Jackie Robinson. He was a class act. If he saw an issue he would say it was an issue. Like the NY Yankees being prejudice, the entire sports franchises were then very prejudice just like most in New York people that ran the business at that time. But it is now 2020. Those times are gone. We measure a man not by the color of his skin but the content of his character. Hmmm who said that before?

I agree with having Jackie Robinson day and the Dodgers retiring his number but no player on any other team can wear it every day as a show of respect. As it is now the number is forced on everyone for a day then put in the closet for the other 161 games. Here's the list of all the players who wore 42. Now, no player ever can wear 42 for their entire career in honor of Robinson. www.baseball-reference.com/friv/numbers.cgi?number=42

His series on jazz, studded with insightful comments from musicians, is so marred by the written script that I couldn't sit through even the first episode. Basically, he's dumb. Add shallow- if you can find room for that in the dumb part. He just pushes pre-installed buttons. The man has nothing original to contribute, which is why he always gets funding and air time. He's like I imagine CBS' Charles Kuralt would have been with a couple of Old Fashions under his belt.

love this. this is what needs to be said. the truth is 99% of americans get the branch rickey story of jackie robinson. the is the man that needs to be celebrated. jesus f.c. why has it taken so long for me to see jackie was pissed off? mlk is greatest man of the 20th century but jackie robinson is in the top ten.
@abrahamhorowitz2312
@abrahamhorowitz2312 6 лет назад
MLK is not the greatest man of the 20th century. Where would you even come off saying such a thing. He was a great man who did a lot of good for POC. But there was a agenda behind him. The American Zionist help fiance him to create instability in america so they could change the American culture. And it did. American culture has done a 360 and is a broken culture. The 60's was the start of degeneracy of America. Drugs no respect for the law. Dressing like savages. No self respect. Decline of education. Open sex. No respect for women. Lack of traditional marriage. The Zionist used MLK and his real beliefs as a screen to destroy America. Then they took care of him when they were finished with him. Malcolm X would be a more prominent figure for African Americans. Blacks were already being accepted much more into white society. Just a little too slow for them. You seen music film and sports start to have more inclusivness. They eventually would of gotten to where they wanted to be. But the Zionist stepped in just in perfect time to influence them into believing that they were never going to get where they wanted in white society. So they stepped in and shaped their beliefs. But now unfortunately we are all going down the tube. There definitely is a secret elite that want to destroy all civilizations. This will allow them to dominate. I know I have been around many prominent Jewish people in my life. And the few I knew that were involved in society. Well lets say they do not have any ones best interest at mind. And the things I learned that they did, it would give any reasonable person nightmares. Or would make them sick to their stomach. Now that does not negate the great things MLK did. And of course we want blacks to have the same things as whites. But to appease or capitulate to these treasoners is wrong. To even associate with them will end up dissentated state. But that is not his fault. They come as your friends. But with a sinister agenda. Only those who oppose and fight this elite, are the real hero's of this world. They are the ones who are trying to make the world a better place. The first step in solving any problem. Is to identify the problem. Then take action. Because they are a sneaky sly group. Who use the most pervasive methods. So you have to be very careful. Because like I said working with them will in the end do more harm.
