Wow the times we live in only 30 comments from over 8,000 views. This was the most significant athlete maybe of All-Time and one of the most intelligent I am proud to say my Grandmother Savanah Churchill shared the same Jet magazine cover in the 1950's with Jackie. Never got to meet him but that's all they every talked about when her friends would visit the house in the late 60's when I was a boy. Brooklyn had finally gotten over the Dodgers leaving when the Met's won in 69. But there was always the talk of Ebbets field and Jackie Robinson. He always carried himself with such dignity what a wonderful human being.

I never heard Jackie Robinson the man just sit down and talk. I only knew of the baseball legend and the civil rights icon. Everyone should watch this. We need Jackie Robinson today.

On September 1st, 1971, the Pittsburgh Pirates fielded an ALL person of color line-up (eight African-Americans, and good old number 21 Roberto Clemente). I'm glad Jackie R. was alive to bear witness.

Ben Chapman, the Phillies manager, was fired after the 1949 season. He passed away in Hoover, Alabama in 1993. Lee Handley, the third baseman, played his last season in 1947 for the Phillies. He passed away in 1970. On a side note, Tony Gwynn, who played for the Padres, sounds a lot like Jackie Robinson.

An extraordinary human being who was without a doubt the best person to break the “ color barrier”.

Mr. Robinson puts his hand on the rail as he walks on to the set; because of diabetes, his eyesight had deteriorated considerably. He was a colour commentator on Montreal Expos' telecasts in 1972; I wish CBC would post some of those games on RU-vid.

So amazing. God did built him to last. imagine if just once he snapped, we wouldn’t know who he is most likely. He had to be perfect to accomplish what he did.

Special human being here… Just pre-ordained. God picked him to break the color barrier because he had the constitution, intellect, will, and resolve to change the world. The man was a real angel of a human being.

Jesus.....Dick Cavett seemed so uninterested with that rant that Jackie gave and seemed like he could'nt just wait until .....'A word from our sponsor!" He should have taken a page from Ed Sullivan on how to treat someone as special as Jackie Robinson was.

question will you want a photo of JACKIE ROBINSON in your house or a photo of al sharpton????????

Why shouldn't you have both ... they represent totally different times and elements of civil rights. Should a white person have a picture of Jesus or Donald Trump? That's just as absurd a concept.
