I've got one and we cut many a rug when we were younger. But we can still move our feet. I love this video, both Jackie and Fred. I can't quite see who the lady is?
It’s just amazing that this wonderful 1942 dance routine could be so perfectly synchronized with Jackie Wilson’s song! This song was big on the charts the very same year that my husband and I married. It’s been 52 years now, and we’re still going strong! And now with this video, so is the song. Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth are phenomenal. Absolutely everything about this video, the song, and the dance is timeless! I watch it every day! Thank you, kiddysoulgirl99.
I don’t think the surly bonds of gravity apply to Rita. She looks like she weighs as much as a sparrow. You see the bird sliding and scuttling across a paper-thin ice sheet on the birdbath that froze overnight? That’s Rita.
Years ago I was stationed in Pearl Harbor while my ship was being refitted...I went to a club on the strip by Waikiki beach....the band there played this song and it had a magic effect on me. My heart soared and I was no longer 3000 miles from home....
My Mum would have been 92 today. She looked JUST like Rita Hayworth when she was younger. People said it all the time. We lost her unexpectedly in 2000. When I first saw this video, I broke down in tears. My Mum LOVED dancing and BOY could she dance, to ANYTHING ! I absolutely LOVE this video AND this song. Always will. Thank you for uploading it 😊💖💖
@@imagecarpenter WOW ! That is AWESOME ! PLEASE give her my Love and Respect ! 💖💖. Tell her, as a child of the '70s, Marc Bolan and T-Rex, Sweet, Mud, the Bay City Rollers etc... ALL of the 'Glam Rock' genre, were my FAVOURITES ! Until I saw Adam lol ! I STILL listen to them all to this day. 🖒😊💖
Martin Luther King had a dream in the 60's. I'm now 80 and still have a dream. I dream that for one night I can dance like Fred and dance with Rita. You can put me in a box after my dream, but it's a dream,an addictive dream!!
@@robertarnold7643 it's so good! I asked kiddy how she does it. Does she pick the dance routine 1st or the song 1st? She picks the songs 1st then finds the dance routine that fits the song. So creative.👍✌️
This one song by itself makes Jackie Wilson a straight up legend. A masterpiece of pure positive energy. I feel like I could run through a brick wall or punch a hole in the sky when I hear this song.
I get it. I am in the same boat. Disabled now & regret not learning to dance & enjoy life more when I had more freedom to do so. However, I also cling to the verse that was spoken over me as a child when I was dedicated back to God. Jeremiah 29:11.
This song is such a masterpiece of positivity and freedom listening to it must be similar to what it feels like to be an eagle or a falcon tearing through the sky knowing the world is yours if you want it. Thank you Jackie
I could watch this all day. So joyous and such amazing choreography pulled off by these two pre-eminent dancers, long gone, but their fantastic dancing lives on to bring us happiness amidst the mess of life.
I keep watching and enjoying this. The fluidity of movement is outstanding. The Jackie Wilson song also happens to be one of my favourites. So perfection in so many ways. It’s such a shame some people are so critical in a negative way.
Had a bad run the last couple of days. And suddenly I remembered this absolute gem. Always works great at resetting me back to being a happy guy. Wonderful dancing too.
Actors today can't hold a candle to these greats from the 40's, 50's and 60's. Sadly, they're almost all gone. They were all so multi-talented and masters of what they did.
Jackie's song is possibly the greatest get up song 🎵 in history... Whatever the problems in your life if you can't get up and move to this then there is something seriously seriously wrong with you in the head !!!!!
I'm 68 years young and I can say I was around during the greatest time to be alive! I've heard it all! -- This is such an upbeat tune, you can't sit still!
That’s Fred Astaire and I assume his usual dance partner Ginger Rogers. There were many Fred Astaire Dance Studio all over America ay one time when I was young. Just wish I would have taken lessons!
I loved to watch Fred Astaire dance with Ginger Rogers. Of course, Rita Hayworth was terrific to watch. How did they get the energy to do this kind of dancing and it was spot on.
Not enough that she is one of the most beautiful women who ever lived....she can dance with Fred Astaire as well!!!!!!!!!!! Jackie Wilson is amazing, the song is amazing....and this video is galactic....
Absolutely beautiful ... brilliant song ... 2 amazing dancers ( Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth ) there will never be another Fred Astaire ! together( the song ) put together is amazing ... I have also watched the film .. beautiful x
as a former recording engineer who knew Jackie Wilson and knew how great à talent hé was ; I really appreciate how well Kiddy Soul Girl 99 put together Jackie Wilson'S Higher and Higher with Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth great dancing footwork... Great job Kiddy .
Showed this to my Grade 4/5 class as we were choosing a song to learn to sing (always show them a great variety of music so they don't get trapped in the present). They were blown away by how upbeat the song was and couldn't believe the dancing. It just shows that true class transcends generations.
If I am understanding correctly, you are a Teacher for grade 4 and 5...If this is true, thank you for showing them about real music and not the crap like most of what is out nowdays that is labeled as music
Good day Mick. I know this comment is late, but I just wanted to let you know I think it is GREAT that you are sharing this wonderful video to your little ones. I am 63 and in the process of moving, so I put on Motown's playlist, but I had to stop and watch this video when I saw Fred A. and Rita A. dancing to Jackie Wilson. WOW!!!!
Great idea. There's no excuse for dull schools anymore. Use the best stuff available to create educational excitement. (Teachers, please see "K-12: In Praise Of Wow!" )www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/06/k12_in_praise_of_emwowem.html
Not primarily a soul fan, but this blends well with the music - it`s like there`s no separation. It would be nice to think that Fred and Rita are watching this
this film truly demonstrates how skilled Rita was as a dancer, and how easy it was to watch her, still a relative novice at this point, in lieu of Fred Astaire. All eyes draw toward her, and she is the star of this complex routine. In spite of his legendary partnership with Ginger Rogers, Fred Astaire always called Rita his favorite dancing partner. He recalled how gifted and quick she was in learning the most advanced routines-often learning the steps in the morning, mulling over them during lunch, and after lunch performing the dance without a single mistake.
Wow, I still listen to this song regularly. I was 8 years old when I first heard it, the lady next door gave weekly Friday night parties. I was suppose to be sleep but I would stay up just to hear her play this song.
In a word FANABULOUS. Wow, Rita Hayworth - gorgeous and dancing as great as the man , Fred Astaire - he is the greatest dancer of all time (Daddy Long Legs).
@@kennethmahon6270 Of course you are right.Ken. Gene was a great dancer. Gene had a more muscular form of dancing and Fred I would say was more debonair. Two styles to be admired in their own right.
a pleasant view of Americana--the 3 artists Ginger, Fred and Jackie --nothing since can come close to their excellence. The will forever remain peerless
I always come back to this song, desperate for some solid proof that love overpowers all else, a billion times over, like I've always known it does. The kind of positive power I have gotten from this song a few times in my years, has literally brought me back out of the darkest corners of a lonely fools life. Thank you Jackie, the love you gave back to this cold world with this song, has never been lost on me, I have used it as a floating device more times than I can ever remember. It has saved my life I'm sure, I just didn't realize it at the time but I do now, I do now, I do now, rest in peace my brother.
Fred had many dance partners but Rita Hayworth was not only an amazing dancer she was absolutely beutiful, these two dancing to Jackie Wilson's classic Higher & Higher is a video I watch constantly RIP Jackie, Fred and the beutiful Rita Hayworth
A few people have copied it claiming to be their own which is annoying because it took me hours to make the mash up but hey ho I'm glad you are still loving it , many thanks 😊
