From the '80's syndicated run. Hosted by Geoff Edwards.
You might want to turn your volume up a little for this one.

That was awesome,to split a Super Jackpot of $14,500 and then win $640 for the regular Jackpot.Geoff Edwards was a fantastic host as was Nipsey Russell and Mike Darow.

WNYW-TV (channel 5) in NYC usually carried this show along with “Talk About” and “The Last Word”, and it was the last game show block to be shown on channel 5 which began at noon. After that came a rerun of “Gilligan’s Island” at 1:30PM and of course the weekday afternoon block of cartoons starting at 2PM.

When the show started in 1974 on NBC, some sounds that was heard that was borrowed from the original version of Jeopardy! with Art Fleming.

In the syndicated ''Jackpot''s revival year 1989, 'the late-'Mr. Edwards doing 'Triple Duty', he was one of the first MC's to host 3 game shows in one time, hosting ''Chain Reaction'' in Montreal and hosted a weekly Saturday night California Lottery game show, ''The Big Spin'' in Sacramento(the lottery's homebase.)and also Geoff joined fellow Jerseyite Jim Perry(he has blood ties to Canada where he hosted both ''Headline Hunters'' and ''Definition'', two of Canada's long-running game shows.)and Alex Trebek as the MCs who hosted game shows here in the U.S. and to our up north neighbors, Canada.

And few know that Jim Perry before his game show fame was mainly a news anchor on MusicRadio WABC (77 AM) in New York during that station's heyday, usually doing news in the overnights as well as being a DJ in the early hours on Sunday mornings from 1970-'72 I believe.

And Monty Hall. Don't forget him. He hosted the 1987 syndicated version of Split Second which was also taped in Canada.

On the Edwards version of Jackpot ,,the men are Kings of the Hill and women are Queens of the hill,just like on Darow's and Nipsey's versions,but they were all fantastic hosts.

Recorded on KTTV in 1989, I can tell from Beau Weaver's announcing at the end of the episode. I remember watching this for a while, Geoff Edwards was also the host for "The Big Spin", which also aired on KTTV.

Was there ever an episode of Jackpot that Geoff Edwards or Mike Darow hosted where both players had a chance to answer the Super Jackpot question.Men are Kings of the Hill and Women are Queens of the Hill.

My only gripe with this version is that you had to get the riddle right to put the money in the Jackpot whereas the Darrow version automatically added the money. Seemed like this era of CBS game shows operated cheaply. The Goen Wheel even premired with $50 and $75 wedges
@ABCEasyas--

Maybe, but at least this episode showed contestants being given another chance to locate the riddle that would give them the target number.

Im trying to think if this was John Harlan's last game show announcing job. But he was on several of Bob Hope Christmas specials in the 90's and narrated the Super Bowl 32 halftime show (in '98).

@nextbarker 2 and I just realized that a week or two ago. Even though I really don't consider that a game show, but I really have been tuning in to this new series "the game show show" on abc and while they had a virtually whole episode dedicated to these "challenge" shows like American Gladiators, Survivor, Big Brother, etc. I did recognize Harlan's voice on AG. That's good that he got some legit work beyond '89. Je passed on not too long ago either (about 5-7 years ago) lived to I think 91.

REG(Reeves Entertainment Group)was the former company of Alan Landsburg Productions best known for producing ABC's primetime reality show ''That's Incredible!" and sitcoms like ''Gimme A Break!", "Kate & Allie" and game shows like ''The Krypton Factor''(ABC aired the show for 5 weeks in the summer of '81 with ''Pyramid''s own Dick Clark hosting.)and ''The Pop & Rocker Game'' which ran in weekly syndication with Jon Bauman(without his ''Bowzer'' persona.)

They taped the last show before it was known it would be the last show. Geoff said the show would have been renewed for the rest of the season if the syndicator, Palladium Entertainment, didn't have legal/financial troubles. They taped 10 shows a day for this version(Bob Stewart did 10 shows a day of Pyramid from 1985-88 when $25K/$100K were both in first run)
@KrakenMan5853

I still don't think it would have been renewed for another season just because of how the game show market was doing in 1989-1990.
@zachhoran
@zachhoran 8 месяцев назад
1990-91 had a whole bunch of new shows between networks and syndication, too, but none of them made it to 1991-92 except Davidson Pyramid, and that ended up running only for two half seasons. @@JohnathanWilliamson849
