Hi and welcome to todays drive from the fishing port at Jackson Bay at the end of the road and the furthest that you can drive south down the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island.
Jackson Bay was established in the 1870's the Jackson Bay wharf is primarily used for unloading fishing vessels and commercial crayfish vessels.
Captain Cook originally named the bay as Open Bay and the name Jackson Bay is believed to come from sealer William Jackson who was part of a party marooned in the bay in 1810.
