This review and your comments are surprisingly positive considering your comments in the Creek Boat Breakdown video 😂. Until today I’ve only paddled my Z3. Had a chance to demo a Gnar at a Festival today and I liked it miles ahead of my Z3. I’m interested to try others now, but getting in the Gnar quickly made me realize I want a different boat.

one thing I love about Jackson outfitting, on the fly adjustment, especially getting in and out. But I like softer edge, to each his own 👍, live in super mank country, but Jackson has kicked up their game, win for all.

Very good point but the ZETs are really good with outfitting and yes this is a big water boat does not like rocks it will work but your going to be catching those rails a lot Just look at all their own marketing it was like all massive rivers not really paddling on stuff that the normal buying public will be using this boat on but I get it when doing those media roll outs

Over 1,200 views in the first 7 hours. You’re the go-to boat review. Dane had a great walkthrough with his typical crazy on-water b-roll, but you’ve got the Everyman paddler review. It has features very similar to the Alpha 75, sans chines.

Definitely already thinking about how can I buy one of these boats, haha. I guess I'm kind of a Jackson fanboy since I have a Traverse, Zen 2, Nirvana, and Antix 2.0. I was thinking about getting a code possibly before this Gnarvana came out. I'm looking for a boat to make you more confident for the "next level."
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison Год назад
Definitely a upgrade from the Nirvana the best boats JK have ever done in my opinion Antix 2 and Gnarvana both have really nice rails and do everything they were designed for really good

@@WadeHarrison I like that Jackson moved the hip pad straps to the front to stay out of the way of the backband. I also think it was a good thing that they added a buckle to the lower part of the hip pad to hold them down. That new buckle should help with the longevity of the hip pad. I think the worse thing for Jackson's hip pads is the wind getting in the cockpit traveling to and from the put-in and takeout. I've mentioned that before, so maybe Jackson saw that comment.

Thoughts on the Med vs. Large for someone who is 5'9" and 205-210 (athletic build)? Pros to the Med with my stats might be better tracking/edge engagement (?) I was thinking about the Zen 3 as well but like the movement out of things in the gnarvana over the sluggishness out of holes and off drops that the Zen 3 seems to have.
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison Год назад
the gnar runs big so my suggestion try the M out because the L is massive
@josh8058
@josh8058 Год назад
Do you prefer the large scorch to the Gnar or just the medium scorch? What about the large did you not like? Harder to maneuver? Tossing up between a medium gnar and large scorch since Alex reckons the gnar can handle a bit more weight than specified (I'm 200lbs atm). Don't wanna end up with some harder to move around in tight spots and can't demo
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison Год назад
Hey Josh I felt the large scorch for me and the rivers Im was mostly on was just not needed I love the scorch X so much i would get one of those before a large scorch. The medium scorch just fits so perfectly at my weight I seen no reason tp go with the larger one. And with the gnar I feel the medium could float easily someone up around 220. I have not seen the L gnar yet so who knows how large it will be? But I thought the large scorch was sized perfect. And really both the boats are really good I think you can’t go wrong either way personally.

I currently have a Large Scorch, it's a huge boat for me even thought I'm 5'2'' 225lbs. I have a hard time rolling it. My go to boat is my Jackson Antix 1.0 Large. I absolute love that boat and have no trouble rolling it. I've had a large machno and medium karma in the past. I liked the karma better than the machno. I'm debating on getting rid of my scorch to try and find a medium creek boat I can get into. I was looking at the code (I've never had a dagger boat) and gnarvana. What are you thoughts? I'm a class 3 beater.
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison Год назад
The Scorch L is big yes But the dagger Code Lg fits smaller your height is what’s going to make those bigger boats hard to control or roll have you tried the medium code or medium scorch you might be surprised how well you fit in those or this one in med

Wade, love your reviews. Question: I am coming to the sport late in life at 62 and am still a beginner but running some class III’s now. I am currently in a large Mamba but it is probably 10 yrs old and starting to show its age. I am looking for the boat that will do the best job of allowing me to get down the rivers I will run and stay right side up. (BSF, Ocoee, Clear Creek, etc.). I am not into hard creeking or doing tricks/stern squirts. I am a bigger guy at 6’1” and 225, so thinking large Gnarvana or Large Code for my next boat but open to other suggestions. What would you put me in?

Exactly I try to give the fairest reviews out there no matter the brand and this boat has an edge that's not designed for those flare transition type boofs off rocks don't get me wrong you can do it but it. But oh boy it's not easy to slip those flare rock boofs. Now the Code or Alpha oh hell yeah those slip off everything like butter but get pushed around when the river flows get big so it's a tradeoff...

@@WadeHarrison Would you say the same applies to Wakas? I feel like they have similar edges but a lot of their sponsored paddlers really excel at the edge-heavy 'cobra boof' style. Which isn't so much the case for Jackson's stable of more linear american paddlers.
