One of the worst places to be during a flood is on a bridge. The waters flowing/raging under the bridge will make the bridge collapse... Seen it many times

I live on railroad st and there where the water came trough the underpass (that eventually reached the top) had blocked us in for two days. I watched the river rise but never thought people were actually on that bridge.. That was scary!... Also, on that day, I was sitting on the porch and the electric pole in front of the house started rocking back and forth which was caused by debree hitting them on up the street where it got over the road. I thought it was an earth quake or the ground being washed out from under us until I realized what must've happened... New subscriber here, love your content!
I will say from my boyhood experiences of being in Kentucky. I am 83 now, but back in the early 60's my grandpa and I would travel from Winchester to Hazard. He was a construction former who built one of the Federal buildings in the 40's...Not sure of the location or name of the building....Most people of the area are very kind and nice...Of course, there is always some rotten eggs. Of course, like in most areas, but we found them very sincere in knowing God and teachings of the bible....Too bad a lot of churches were destroyed...Our prayers are with everyone in the area. They will need all the help they can get...Most of the victims didn't have much to begin with and now they have nothing....
I have been across that bridge MANY MANY MANY times, just past that red building is a road to the left and about 1/2 mile down that road is the National Guard Armory. That underpass is a railroad underpass, the train goes right over top of it. Through the underpass is a big hill, the same hill that was in the movie "Fire Down Below" where Steven Seagal picked up Marg Helgenberger walking. At the end of that bridge (Going in the other direction) on the left at the corner was where the pool hall used to be (It burned down) and the pool hall was also in the movie "Fire Down Below". It is very sad to see a place you know so well suffer so much devastation. I agree, these people need a reality check, being on that bridge is NOT a smart place to be.

I live in Colorado and we are got flooding as well and more rain is on the way again. But what gets me everyone builds on the creek and river bottoms and when flooding comes they think they are safe and they are not safe from high water.
The reason for building in the creek and river bottoms is where the only level land exist i have lived here (Pike County) all my life. We get floods a lot of times that are not all that big but this flood and a few more in i remember in the past are the big bigger and baddest of all floods. Where i live it took over 8 hours for the flood waters to go back down to where you could get back on the highway.
there are several churches a school and some other building that are temp shelters plus they have opened up some land in the state parks for shelters. We are heading there now to deliver a load of water, cleaning supplies and creature comforts!!

Was this video taken today? It is unreal the water is still this high in the Jackson area 3 days later. Never mind, I heard someone mention the sunset, so I am assuming this video was from Friday or Saturday.
You must have insurance insurance for everything. Instead of buying stuff, that will be destroyed, try living a mininalist life, and when disaster strikes, you do not care, for you have money to relocate to your choice. It happen to me, and I ust collected my insurance money and moved on. I would never rebuild. stuff gets destroyed. I hope this advice helps someone. I never need charity aka go fund me for anything. I help non beggars hep themselves, and happy I worked from 7-70, and at79 moved to Queretaro, Mexico, because USA is too deadly and expensive. Be aware of the donation scams. Be He Glorified! He is Allah, the One, the Absolute. [39:5] He hath created the heavens and the earth with truth. He maketh night to succeed day, and He maketh day to succeed night, and He constraineth the sun and the moon to give service, each running on for an appointed term. Is not He the Mighty, the Forgiver ? [39:6] He created you from one being, then from that (being) He made its mate; and He hath provided for you of cattle eight kinds. He created you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, in a threefold gloom. Such is Allah, your Lord. His is the Sovereignty. There is no God save Him. How then are ye turned away ? [39:7] If ye are thankless, yet Allah is Independent of you, though He is not pleased with thanklessness for His bondmen; and if ye are thankful He is pleased therewith for you. No laden soul will bear another’s load. Then unto your Lord is your return; and He will tell you what ye used to do. Lo!
