Thanks Jackson for the quick turnaround in bringing this very new video....the difference you are hearing is this track is from an audio only video posted on Toby Gad's YT channel with guitar, percussion and violins as well. Totally different mix and instruments than the "Cathedral" video you just watched. There are quite a few different versions posted on Toby Gad's YT channels...he as more than one. Appreciate the support for what Toby has already said, "The Next Superstar". He is a multi Grammy winning songwriter/musician/producer so I have to agree with his assessment. This version is a much more produced, more commercial sounding song than the Piano Diaries Version. The instrumentation is very different but the song stills sounds great! Very interesting that this was directed and produced by Toby Gad! This song is made to be played on the radio! Who is Toby Gad? Gad is a German music producer and songwriter based in Los Angeles. Will disagree somewhat RW....this one here is produced solely by Toby (in the credits) where as the Piano Diaries one in the Cathedral is full on production with mixing and added instrumentation (Violins). Toby is also using a different track for this one from the "audio only" one he posted on his YT channel with guitar and percussion along with strings. Looks like this is either recorded on a hand held or really well controlled drone ....just my opinion RW. The interesting part for me is that in order to keep up with this tall young ladies walking pace must be a challenge. 😎😎
The version in the Church came across as a sad song... This was like she's just dumped the boy and is walking it off and Venting... She's a great Storyteller.
To me the Piano Diaries version in the church is her better vocal performance & it makes this old man "melt." This is the more hip version that's more commercial & radio ready for her promotion to superstardom.
This version loses the message within the song. The version in the church has so much MORE impact. It is simple, and her voice really shines on that version. This version is trying to follow the current trend of music. But it's all about her voice. Simple musical arrangements and her voice are all that are needed. That is why Adele became well-known - it's her unique voice, just as Angelinas unique voice.
I have to say I agree. There's nothing wrong with this but the other one hits harder. This one will be useful as you said for the pop scene and for charting on places like iTunes or billboard. The other version is just plain special and likely as part of piano diaries.
