So just to review: The Lions have just blown out the Jags by four possessions. The offense hung 40 and never punted. The defense held them to 14 and looked professional on most drives. The special teams were quietly superior. The whole team just absolutely dominated from start to finish, and Jacksonville was never in the game after the opening kickoff. I am very confused right now.

THE thing i like about this is that the defence and the offence both played their roles and we didnt have to punt. Great Nfl right there

That was a hell of a game by Goff and the rest of the offense. They were balling in that game. Goff: 31-41 (76% comp) for 341 yards and 2 TDs. That's a pretty darn good performance, if I say so myself.

It's usually smarter to be pessimistic with the Lions as they have a penchant for misery, but this team just feels different ever since Patricia and Quinn were ousted. They always play with heart, win or lose, and they've been drafting well and getting good pieces on the field. Hard not to feel like there may actually be some kind of future for Detroit right now. It's refreshing.

As a Cali Lions fan I don't get to see the full games unfortunately so I just see the Highlights like this. But based on what I've seen I'd like to break it down here: Offense: Every offense stalls. BUT good on DC to take the points instead of getting in his own way. He clearly is learning and does lapse at times but he is learning not to be so aggressive. Goff looks better. More poised and comfortable and the return of his injured WR's clearly has given Goff more confidence in his targets. Swift is running with confidence and it clearly makes a difference to have him back. It just gives the Lions another weapon to scheme with; AND with so many weapons now, the defenses have to account for everyone. Do you blitz? Do you play man or zone? And with Jameson on the field now good luck. I can see the rest of the season going like the first 3 games of the season. High powered and high scoring. The offense can become the best offense in the league again. I don't care how good your defense is. With the great O-Line we have Its hard to make Goff uncomfortable; and now that he is willing to move out of the pocket, its a nightmare. Ben Johnson is proving to be a good pick for OC. I really hope he doesn't leave. Defense: More and more I see the Aubrey Pleasant firing as a right coaching decision. The players only meeting clearly helped as well. But credit Aaron Glenn to getting the Defense humming on a better tune than the first half of the season. The Lions are 4-1 in the last 5 games and I don't care who you are in the media or NFL, a win is a WIN. The defense gets the most praise for those wins because they stopped the bleeding in the passing and run game. For all you Lions fans giving Brad Holmes grief for the draft picks I hope you know factually speaking that from the last 2 drafts, Holmes has 10 picks playing on the 53 man roster. Don't even try to defend your argument because those picks, so long as health is not an issue for Paschal and Jameson, these picks are BALLING. Defense alone has Paschal, Aidan, James Houston, Malcom Rodriguez, Kerby Joseph, Derrick Barnes. Chase Lucas is a no sighting but at the professional level, he was clearly good enough to keep on the depth chart. Lucas aside, the above mentioned players are having a great season. Barnes was considered a mediocre player becoming a possible missed draft pick. (LETS BE HONEST, NO GM HITS ON ALL PICKS.) But Barnes is growing and showing promise as a legit starting LB. Rodriguez is a sleeper pick that looks like the steal of the draft at the LB spot. He's small but plays with tenacity. As they say, its not about the size of the dog in the fight but size of the fight in the dog. Houston came out of nowhere but has shown now in 2 games he is worth the hype. Aidan is having a phenomenal year after a slow start. His bring the lunchpale mentality in the trenches makes his teammates better and cause havoc for the Qb. Paschal is a nice compliment and clearly he and Aidan are feeding each other. Joseph went from farting to straight sharting on defenses and so far as I can see, he has not been burned like he was to begin the season. Lets hope for a Taco Bell duece at some point this season. All this to say Holmes knows what he is doing and is the reason I believe the Lions are going to be fine in the years to come. Give Aaron Glenn his flowers too. In 5 weeks he has turned the leagues worst defense to a pain in the ass defense to play against. We were battling injuries at the beginning and although it does not excuse the losses, we can certainly see what the Lions defense can be in any week against any opponent with their best playmakers healthy. They are also young but are growing together and trusting each other. Winning these games is giving them that confidence that losing cannot. They believe now they can beat the best of them and injuries have forced the young defenders to grow faster than they normally would have. Overall Thoughts: I don't know if Dan is the right head coach. But right now, I cannot deny the results these past 5 weeks. He has all facets of his team balling out. I can confidently say the culture has shifted for Detroit. Grit has become the mantra and clearly the coach has seen no detractors in the locker room. A stark contrast from the Quinntricia era. These players have bought in 100%. And as a man I have respect for these players. They have looked themselves in the mirror week in and week out and have focused on the areas of improvement. The work is paying off. The grit is showing it works. And for as bad as the Lions have been to start the year, they are a very different team this second half. They are 5-7 and in the thick of the wildcard hunt. If they can go 4-2, 3-3, or 5-1 in the remaining games then the Lions rebuild is finally has traction that shows DC is a capable HC for this team and that the staff he hired are right for the team as well. Winning cures all. This team has tasted victory for 4 out of their last 5 games. They see their hard work and grit pay off. They see that their HC is not just this goofy guy at the podium giving out sound bites. They see that anyone they face is now no longer a long shot win but an almost certain 50/50 toss as are most games. The difference is now they KNOW they can win against any team. They have the swagger to come and punch teams in the mouth. I'm excited to see what they do but for now I relish the win. The Lions seem to finally have some claws and teeth back. ONE PRIDE BABY

I honestly can't remember the last time My Lions not only won in all 3 phases of the game but didn't make any costly mistakes. This was a beautiful thing to see, looking forward to seeing more! Go Lions! 🦁

This offense is E-L-I-T-E and this defense is MEDIOCRE which is a HUGE improvement. If the defense played this way all year the Lions would be at 8+ wins. If, if, if, it's just good to see them balling. Future is looking bright. 👌

Coming back to this video watching highlights to get pumped for the coming season. I really and truly think the Lions and Jaguars could play each other in SB58. The foundations have been laid and the hot runs by both teams in the back half of 2022 could very well carry over into 2023. Two long suffering franchises (one more than the other obviously) could make for some fresh blood next February.

The Lions need to lock up Jared Goff for a long, long, long time.

One very underrated part of Jared Goffs game is how good he is at the play fake on play action plays, compare him and Matthew stafford and it’s not close, you really believe he’s going to hand it off, he drops his head and sells it, it makes it way more difficult for Linebackers. This is a nuance to the QB position that doesn’t show up in the stats, some QBs are super lazy with the fakes or are afraid of the blitz so they rush it. He’s shown that with a good run game and time to throw he can operate an offense efficiently, he’s a rhythm QB, big difference from last season when the protection was meh and he had no weapons and a mediocre run game
