The classic Jacob's ladder blocks are one of my favourite blocks, which I learned from Jenny at MSQC. I love this block, but I don't make it that often, but the 2nd example quilt in this video makes me want to make another quilt.
This video was delayed by many months due to eye problems and infections that have been troubling me since Feb 2023. I finally got a diagnosis and am currently getting treatment that is helping. I'm just so happy to be releasing this video and being able to get back to quilting again.
This block is building on skills, so you will need the following videos from Behind the Blocks to help you out:

So happy to see a new video 🙂 I love blocks that look complicated at first but are in fact made up of rather simple units. Thank you for sharing also your tea stain incident and talking about parts you're not happy with. Been there 😅 Looking forward to the follow up video.

I think it's important to share the good and the bad and hthen we can start to realise that not everything is picture perfect and that's ok. I am however keeping my tea on another table away from the fabric LOL

I'm glad you like it, it's one of my favourite as well. I'm currently going through my scrap piles and trying to figure out if I can make a rainbow version :-)

Thanks for this demo. I always enjoy watching your videos. I'm also glad your eye issue is resolved! Re: points and/or seams not matching the way you want... About a year ago, I started using washable school glue to hold all my seams in place and I've never looked back. I'll put my fabric pieces right sides together, just the way I want to sew them, then I flip up the edge of the top piece and put a little dab of glue right on or near the seam of the bottom piece. Then I nest those seams, lining up any points, and give it a quick press with a hot, dry iron. I no longer use pins for these seams (the only time I'll use pins is to keep really big, long seams together on account of the weight of those big pieces). The glue is really cheap (I use Elmer's purple washable school glue sticks) and has been a total game changer in terms of leveling up on my precision sewing. Every once in a while, I lose focus and sew a sloppy seam that I feel the need to rip out and redo, but aside from those few instances, I hardly ever have to rip and redo anything anymore. Plus my points are nearly perfect every time! One might say it's too much trouble or too time-consuming to do all that gluing in the first place, but I personally find that it takes a lot less time overall. Also, instead of getting really frustrated and pissed at myself for all the mistakes, I end up getting a hit of dopamine for every perfect (or at least perfect-enough!) point on the very first try. I'm much happier with the whole process as well as the end result. 😊

Me too, it sucked, but it is 98% back to normal thankfully! I have seen many people using glue when pieceing and binding. I can see the benefits of it, but I don't know if it's for me. I might try it for something very fussy that needs to be really precise but the jury is on the fence for me currently.
