Thank you Tom for helping us to digest the Scriptures, so that we have a deeper understanding of what transpired between the two sides of Abrahams family, and why one received the blessing and the other did not. A very satisfying scriptural meal!

I really appreciate the teaching you give. You are doing God’s work by providing teachings that are missing from modern day Churchianity.

I was under the impression Esau was running for his life, being hunted by Nimrod. That’s why he said he was about to die. He needed to eat to keep moving. Correct me if I’m wrong, please. Anyone have thoughts on this?

No. I believe he was so angry at Jacob? For stealing the birthright, that’s why Jacob left. Esau went to find a suitable wife anyway even though Isaac was fooled.

Actually, my understanding from chapter 27 of the Book of Jasher is that Esau had killed Nimrod and stolen the "valuable garments" and was then running from Nimrod's men.

I've heard this too. Is it instead of or in addition to the death of Abraham? The Bible doesn't say. With Jewish tradition one must be very careful. Often they contradict the scriptures or are downright silly. For example: They say that Joseph in Egypt married Dina. The Bible says it was the daughter of the Egyptian high priest of On. 😮
@Laura-qs4gx
@Laura-qs4gx 4 месяца назад
@@eswn1816 It does start with "after the death if Abraham," so in addition to for sure. It also mentions Esau selling his portion of the burial cave in the field of Machpelah, and Jacob writing it all down in a book and sharing it with witnesses- indicating this wasn't a private secret between the two brothers. (I find it also interesting how this shows an intentional shrewdness in Jacob's character as we see later in dealing with Laban and his sheep.)
@eswn1816
@eswn1816 4 месяца назад
@@Laura-qs4gx Yes, but "after the death" is not the same as "during the funeral week." Interesting to speculate as long as we don't get dogmatic. Another good point is that the phrase for 'hunter' used only twice in scriptures (for Nimrod and Essau) is, I believe, hunters of men, ie, killers. This is also why Jacob was so fearful of Essau as he was the killer who killed the great(est) killer. Fascinating stuff! 😎

Isaac was born of God. Ishmael of the flesh. Abraham was promised Isaac by God. Ishmael came because Abraham did not trust in God and wait so he had a child with his servant. Isaac was God’s seed, Ishmael was not, he was man’s.

I haven't had a chance to watch the video (just the beginning), but the audio is really off and distracting. Not sure if it's when you edited the video or the original is off.

I would rather use "CHECK AND BALANCE" instead of DIVIDING or "Divide and Conquer" because the ftuit of Good/Evil also acts as a check/balance....my personal thoughts and not scriptures however, the Jewish Rabbi know better,,,❤❤❤

Everyone fails to mention what was going on during biblical times in lets say , China . The most populated country . Or anywhere else on the planet . If God loves everyone , why were there so many left out ?.......
@cdspiva8598

Because the Bible isn't fundamentally about humans... It is about Jesus/Yeshua ("these are they which testify of me "). It's not ultimately about the history of man. It's about the history of Yeshua and His redemption of man. But Abraham was chosen to bring the Messiah into the world, and ultimately Israel (and eventually David) received that same promise. Had God chosen someone in China to be the ancestor for the Messiah, then the entire Bible would be about their history leading up to the birth of the Christ instead of focusing on Abraham's descendants. Basically, we (people) aren't what's important. God (and His plan of salvation) is.

Why don't scholars bring this up in casual conversations? If this is a straight forward definition it does make some matters debatable.

I agree, and it’s one of the reasons people should never turn to man to learn and understand the Bible. The Holy Spirit gives understanding to those who read the Word, seek and pray for understanding, and wait for it, plain and simple. @@jamesjaudon8247 James 3:1 Complete Jewish Bible 3 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, since you know that we will be judged more severely. Ham son Canaan was only cursed because he took land that was not his not because of the color of his skin.... Jubilees 10:30-33 [30]And Ham, his father, and Cush and Mizraim his brothers said unto him: 'Thou hast settled in a land which is not thine, and which did not fall to us by lot: do not do so; for if thou dost do so, thou and thy sons will fall in the land and (be) accursed through sedition; for by sedition ye have settled, and by sedition will thy children fall, and thou shalt be rooted out for ever. [31]Dwell not in the dwelling of Shem; for to Shem and to his sons did it come by their lot. [32]Cursed art thou, and cursed shalt thou be beyond all the sons of Noah, by the curse by which we bound ourselves by an oath in the presence of the holy judge, and in the presence of Noah our father.' [33]But he did not harken unto them, and dwelt in the land of Lebanon from Hamath to the entering of Egypt, he and his sons until this day.

Canaan was cursed because he was an illegitimate son. Ham slept with his mother, Noah’s wife and bore Canaan. That’s what it means to see your father’s nakedness in the Old Testament. And taking someone’s wife then was a sign of taking over their authority. Ham was trying to take over Noah as head of the household. Others have done this like David did to Saul
