Jacob van Eyck's variations on John Dowland's Lachrymae, performed on the renaissance flute by Kate Clark.
4K ultra high definition video from Voices of Music.
Van Eyck's compositions form the core of the recorder repertory in the 17th century, and his book "Der Fluyten Lust-hof" is the largest and one of the most comprehensive works for a solo wind instrument in the literature of Western music. Van Eyck's works are usually performed on the recorder, but his book specifically mentions performance on the flute as an option.

Marvelous! Who is the craftman that made the flute?

how do the fingerlings of the (tenor) rennaissance flute differ to those of the baroque?
@VoicesofMusic
@VoicesofMusic 6 лет назад
More cross fingerings in general, but it's a really fun instrument to play.

Most fundamentally, in using the 3rd harmonic, as opposed to the 2nd, for the 12th note of the scale (a" on a d' flute, the opening note in this performance) and some other notes above, so more holes are closed in that part of the instrument's range than is typically the case with the baroque flute.

Who made this flute?
@VagabondAnne

Recorded at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Belvedere, CA, USA. I can tell by the blotches in the cement wall.
@VagabondAnne

I'm sure the blotches contribute to the excellent acoustics, I'm just sure of it!

Please explain to me how the blotches contribute to the sound, and I'm not being sarcastic nor ironic, it is a legitimate question. Please answer it. Best regards, Victor.

If the walls and floor are mirror flat you get a lot of harsh reflections in the sound.
