I had to wait a while for this one #jacqueszewhipper #jackthewhipper #sephiroth #onewingedangel #finalfantasy #finalfantasy7remake #finalfantasy7 #freebird #sword #katana #masamune
I was wildly impressed he knew all the Latin by heart, and then happy he was validated for putting time into learning it. I hope more people request it. 😂
Sometimes you come across a person that is just super chill, funny, skilled in his act and has an alround great character without fostering an ego about all of it. Jacques is such a guy that helps make life worth living.
It's iconic to final fantasy, but it hasn't been used for anything else aside from kingdom hearts on a hidden boss. The mario song probably gets called much more often due to how exposed it is to the populace.
What I love the most is when he comes out with the katana at the end, he goes into a pitch-perfect recreation of Sephiroth's pose. I just about died laughing. Great work!
The amount of times this clip has already made rounds in the various Final Fantasy groups I'm in makes me happy. It also makes me hope that more Final Fantasy songs get requested ;)
We can’t be surprised he knows the lyrics to this song. This man learned the words to Animaniac songs. He’s more than enough of a nerd to learn One Winged Angel God I love these videos
It's funny you mention that. I have also taken the time to sit down and learn the full lyrics to the Animaniacs Nations of the World and their US Presidents song too. Learned them almost 15 years ago and still know them perfectly. Unfortunately I've never been able to apply either one of them to a real world situation where I get to show it off.
@@DukeDarkshadow Someday you just need to force the situation; some talents are so out-of-the-box that they just aren't likely to come up naturally, and waiting for them to do so is a waste of said talent. Shine on you crazy fucking diamond and best of luck with your Animaniacs songs in the future.
It's the first time I've heard of "Jacques Ze Whipper" and I don't know what I expected when I clicked on this video, but this was glorious and also very entertaining. The ending made me laugh so hard.
This guy is about to inspire a slew of whip based bards for sure. He's like a character come to life on stage that the Ren crowd had secreted away in their pg 13 shows until now.
I was in the audience for both shows so the "If only..." made me feel like I had a very special secret. Even more fun was seeing the rest of the audience respond with delight to what I knew was coming! Magical
His crowd work is phenomenal. Like this is top tier stuff that most entertainers could learn from. Directly involving the crowd without losing control to them. Making them all feel like they're a part of it while simultaneously using their reactions to surprise them. It's brilliant.
This man matches the comedic energy of 90s Jim Carrey, and that is in no way a bad thing. Also, his whole "FINALLY!" thing reminded me of the time I actually got to use the line "When someone asks you if you're a god, you say YES!"
Now I want to know if there is a song that he doesn't know. Plenty of songs get requests that he vetos, but his knowledge of esoteric songs is impressive.
Knowing the Latin lyrics to "One Winged Angel" is super impressive, but calling the sword a nodachi instead of a katana would really give Uber nerds like me the old razzle dazzle.
Nah, calling it Masamune is better. Odachi are designed to slash, Sephiroths sword is often used to stab and impale. And in crisis core particularly, the blade is closer to a tachi than an odachi. Basically, no real life blade is a perfect match, so calling it by its name is probably the best option.
I subscribed purely based on this video, in my 30s and shared it with childhood friends and we were all obsessed with this game and we had the biggest group chat in years from it, outstanding work young man!
Welp... Looks like I'm officially in love with this man. I too learned all the Latin lyrics of One Winged Angel and it was even my ringtone for a hot minute. I like how he asks if it's from FFVII knowing full well where it's from. What a beautiful nerd.
"Death is nothing, compared to Vindication." My man here literally holding on to lyrics in Latin, a practically dead language, for 10 years plus because he knew, one-day, there would be a big enough Nerd to request it.
Ahhhh!!! I want to see him LIVE one day. His arsenal of songs is amazing. . . but this one - WOW! I love the Final Fantasy Games and the fact that he knew WHERE that song appears and what you have to do to GET TO that point. . . NERD!!! Yes, let the nerd shine through. lol. I appreciate him SO MUCH! I am even more 'in love' with him now than I was before - and I'm a huge fan offhand. (=
My favorite part is that at the start you think Jacques is annoyed because it’s a difficult song, and then you learn that it’s because he is annoyed that it took so long for it to finally get requested.
It seems that some of the lyrics are shared by Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” a musical interpretation of a collection of 13th century songs and poems found in a Benedictine monastery in Bavaria in 1803. The texts were in Latin, German, and medieval French. Many of you will probably recognize the opening movement of Carmina Burana, “O Fortuna,” a rather bombastic number with full orchestra and choir that is frequently used for automotive commercials and scenes of imminent doom in movies. Now that we’ve got your “Musical History Moment” out of the way: good work, Jacques! Love your work!
Nobuo Uematsu, the composer, took the lines from Carmina Burana. And used the epic orchestral style for inspiration. This is one of those hardcore Final Fantasy nerd trivia facts! 😎 I was so fascinated by the song back in the day, I arduously researched the lyrics (during the pre-google, internet explorer, 56k net days, so a lot of work and patience!) and all the history behind it.
What a charismatic guy !! I admire how he shows his relatively "unique" passion/hobby to a non-gamer audience with such style !! There is not even a second where the audience looks bored or confused about him talking about Final Fantasy. . Kudos !! :D
I am amazed. This is incredible! Jacque is incredible! So glad to have found his channel. And this video combines two of my favorite things - ren fests and Final Fantasy video games! Yay! Keep up the awesome!
That was amazing!!! You can count on getting this requested if I can ever make it to one of your shows. I played that game when it first came out. Was obsessed with it and the sheer awe I experienced during that final fight is undescribable.
As a person who was never allowed to play these games (the closest I got was Kingdom Hearts), I always loved the look of Sephiroth and hearing my friends rant about him now Jacque has this and it's stuck in my head.... I just might finally play final fantasy at 30 years old.
Play and you will never look at games the same again. Before i play final fantasy, for me the video game is just filling up my time. Some games are addictive but never come across a game that pulling me into the world of fantasy like final fantasy did... My parents said I'm crazy that i cried when i finished one of the final fantasy games... It is like girls have fallen into sentimental drama rabbit holes... It makes me feel like i am the main character of the story and the whole storyline gives me some impact on my emotion. Back in the early 90's, no games made it so deep like final fantasy does
This was the first Jacques videos I saw via recommendations being an FFVII enthusiast. The build-up to it, including one of many Freebird standing jests was spot on. Better still was doing the official original & not an own style lyrics version as seen in other requested whip songs. But if only he had Sephiroth's Katana.....? 😁 👍
We played Liberati Fatali in the uni orchestra, I was on cymbal & bass drum... And only *now* do I realise that yes, Jacques is one of us percussionists. Now to convince the committee we need to buy whips...
I only discovered him a couple days ago through RU-vid shorts, and my nerd heart leapt that he did this XD Jacques, I learned these lyrics over fifteen years ago just because I love Sephiroth lol.
“I don’t know what makes you think that I would know that song.” Jacques, dear, people who follow you enough to show up to a live show know that you’re a gamer. 😂 (Also, petition for the next live show’s digital ticket to include both shows! 😉 This wasn’t in the stream I got.)
