Man, if they do a Mummy and Wolfman, the whole set could be paired up with Marvel Legends' Man-Thing, Morbius, and Ghost Rider for a pretty decent approximation of Marvel's 70's monster/horror library
Imagine if Jada had the DC license instead of McF. I like the scale, proportions, accessories, articulation, sculpt, and paint. Not bad for their first foray into action figures.
I agree. I really wish someone else had the DC license. I just want a good line that can pair up with my Legends. I have a huge DCUC collection. But there are just a lot of things lacking in that line. From sculpt work, articulation, etc.
FYI, the fossil hand that comes with the creature was found in the very beginning of the first movie. That's what triggered the expedition to the Black lagoon.
The creature is the best sculpt for the Creature of the Black Lagoon monster in 6-7" made untill now. I have quite a lot of creature figures, models, etc ...The likeness is just perfect! Much better than Diamonds!
16:58 - C'mon, even if Robo Don't Know a lot of things, this one is REALLY obvious! She's a heavy metal fan, throwin' the horns up Ronnie James Dio-style!
Love the paint deco. Not a huge fan of the faces though. Regardless, I’m sticking with Neca. But I see you Jada. Keep it up. Excited to see where they go
The only problem with neca is that they don’t make some characters like in the Godzilla line we only got mothra and rodan and everything else Godzilla. And with the new neca line for monsters, I’m scared we’re not going to get some iconic monsters
@@badentv1390 That's not really a good comparison considering they were limited by Toho with Godzilla. They have every bit of rights for Universal Monsters.
If they have the Universal license fingers crossed they also have the rights to The Mummy with Brendan Fraser. Love that movie and would love some highly articulated figures in this scale of those characters.
God, I need that Creature so bad. I really hope they expand beyond Universal Monsters because if I could get a Nosferatu in this style I would be thrilled.
At 1:27, I think Robo answered his own question. That Frankenstein's monster figure fills in that space from the side-aspect, and if the goal is to keep the packaging all the same, that's where the extra air comes from. When you see that figure in particular from the side, you can see the space being used.
Wow, you reviewed no less than 4 figures and still did a thorough job with each, including articulation and size comparison. The Gillman is the one I've been waiting for most. 6" and fully articulated. Yes! Thanks again for a great review. 👍
I watched this video because I heard Jada Toys will be making Street Fighter figures. If the SF figures are anything like this I am all in. These figures look great and your review was amazing. Instant Sub!!
@@raulvito6246 right I get it for the price point, and the fact that they left a texture means you wouldn't even have to use a primer, we could just do a light wash and rub it off and it would hold good in the crevices also a light dry Brush would catch all those raised edges of the textures really nicely
That opening is classic! Dracula found out he was in the wrong hood in Compton. Eastside Compton Vampire Killers. He thought he was in Blood neighborhood looking for blood. Found out real quick. LOL!!😂😅😂
I've always wanted a DRACULA toy. The one I had back in the 80s was huge, 12 inches tall and more like a statue. These 6 inch versions are what I've been waiting for, for decades! They look beautiful, they have modern articulation. I just wish they didn't use the "pins" and went for a more Figuarts or even Figma style of joints. Anyway it's not that big of a deal as long as I can pose them around, but I hope next time they'll eliminate the pins and really go for the Figuarts style of joints.
Seeing the smiling Frankenstein's monster head made me realize I need some figures from the movie 'Young Frankenstein' in this exact size! Maybe Jada Toys can make it happen?
Unexpectedly great first effort from a company, which just started to produce this scale of action figures. Well thought out and executed articulation points, seems like no quality issues, nice, clean paint, useful accesories, and real attention for details. Only minor things, like i would prefer more wear and dirt on Frank, and the open mouth Dracula head defenitely needed more work. To be fair, the Black Lagoon Creature doesn't have fangs in his mouth, that's just some inner pinkish skin making it more fishy i guess, the point is that the paint is correct like that. And i like the overview, thanks Robo!
25:34 A suitable word would be "composite." Fight discussions usually use it for convenience when selecting fictional characters who have different versions across different media; i.e., a character like Ash Williams from Evil Dead has so many versions that fight threads typically use "Composite Ash," a version that the posters will understand encompasses the general idea of the character.
I hope Jada releases the second series of Universal Monsters, I would like to see models; Series 1 *The Mummy *The Wolfman *The Invisible Man *The Phantom of the Opera Series 2 *Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde *Metaluna Mutant *The Hunchback of Notre Dame *Renfield Series 3 *The Creeper (Brute Man) *The Mole People *Igor *The Phantom of the Opera (Red Death) Series 3 *Van Helsing *Dr. Frankenstein *The Son of Frankenstein *Werewolf of London Series 4 *Ghost (Hold That Ghost 1941 film) *The Femm Family (The Old Dark House) *The Mad Ghoul *Skeleton (The House on Haunted Hill 1959 film)
The Bride's wrappings look excellent! Really hoping we get a Mummy looking as good. Thanks for another awesome, early review Robo, you sensational s.o.b you! 😆🙌💛
So happy to have both lines, one for Marvel horror and one for NECA Horror. Jada made a strong debut that stands well next to Hasbro. And I'll be THAT guy... Lugosi's Dracula never had fangs. But Dracula never had fangs. But man am I glad they included them!!
They look good. Hope the line does well. Definitely planning to pick them all up. Since it’s also Universal, I would love for them to follow up the classic monsters with a Munsters line. An in scale Munsters Coach and Dragula would be amazing.
When I heard about these I was a bit interested. The one I want the most Is the Gill Man and maybe Dracula. I'm a sucker for anything Frankenstein's monster so that's a maybe for me. What kills me the most is the alternate heads. They're hilarious. Creature looks like someone walked in on him in the shower, Dracula's fang open mouth looks really silly especially since its sorta modeled after the Lugosi Dracula his face looks like derrrr, The Bride looks like she just saw the biggest spider ever, but the best one is Frank he looks like he cut the biggest fart and he knows it. Might check these out Fwoosh
These came out so cool. Very happy that Jada did such a fantastic job in the action figure department. I've got some of there vehicles and they made quality product. Look forward to see what else they bring to the table.
So happy you were able to give us an early look at these. I was waiting to see what they looked like in hand because based on the promo images I wasn’t quite sure if I liked them enough to order. I do still think the NECAs look better aesthetically (more movie accurate, though I realize that’s not necessarily what they are going for here), but all my other horror figures are 6 inch so I couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger on those. Definitely going in on these now. Once again, Robo has me opening my wallet.
Love it. Might have to think twice about stumping up the cash for the NECA monsters. These have just the right amount of toyishness; they're like if Remco's monsters were made today.
These look great... except for the cape on Dracula. That really bugs me. I'm thinking of going with the NECA versions, hopefully they can do better with the cape. Super7 did Universal Monsters ReAction figures before, it would be cool if they did Ultimates.
Great review. I have all 4 on preorder, but had my reservations. Now, I’m all in too. Here’s hoping we get a second wave with Werewolf and Mummy. Would not mind a Zombie or Igor either.
I found the wave at my local meijer, besides the Bride, and I gotta say this line is fantastic. I’m astonished that Jada toys could even make action figures this good. I’m praying we see a second wave, and I’m calling it right now that wave will have the Wolfman, Invisible man, ImHotep, and the phantom of the opera. I could see them packing in some amazing accessories for the wolfman and the invisible man!
I can't be the only one wanting to see Jada or NECA to do a figure for Ahmanet (The Mummy 2017). Especially looking at how Jada did The Bride of Frankenstein here, and even though The Mummy 2017 may not be the most beloved entry in the Universal Monsters franchise, I think a highly-detailed and posable Ahmanet figure could be really dope and I would preorder that in a heartbeat. A Jekyll and Hyde based on The Mummy 2017 would also be pretty nice to get, too.
Those are quite good looking figures. The Bride's wrapped body I think would make a good mummified Anck-Su-Namun from the Fraser Mummy films, with a bit of reworking the Frankenstein Monster head could make a good head sculpt for the Soldier Mummies from the same films.
The Dracula is surprisingly good. Even though it's supposed to be a generic likeness, I think they sneaked in a Bela Lugosi portrait. Probably should pre-order the Dracula and get the first wave, just in case the Lugosi estate complains and they have to change it. I like the bat, too. The cape is a little too chunky. They probably should have gone with a plastic cape.
The amount of commercials in this video...Robo gettin' paid! That's like an extra 10 bucks! And yeah, these things definitely turned out _way_ better than the promo images. As already mentioned, they'd fit in real nice with your Legends.
I didn't even know Jada made figures so after seeing this I ordered all 4 from Kollectable Kaos here in Adelaide south australia for my birthday gift to myself I'll be keeping them in their box but might do a couple of head swaps first
Jada Toys please please please make , figures of the old Galactica tv show ..... or even Galactica 1980 .... I need Troy and Dillon figures in my life . ^^
