Been down with Jada, LOX, and D-Block since 1999. My all-time favorites, remember in early 2000s when solo albums were consistent with all 3 but a group LOX album was always talked about but never materialized until the recent Filthy America in 2016 or so. Anyway I was like a dope fiend craving a new LOX album...and back then mixtapes were in full effect. DJ Clue, Envy. Big Mike & many more usually did a mixtape every month or two. Mostly unreleased songs made during album sessions , but also freestyles utilizing beats from established popular records already on radio(think 50 cent G-Unit formula). These mixtape weren’t available in suburbia malls, mostly the city and your local bootlegger - Which ironically we all became once Napster hit & burning CDs was effortless. LOX were hustlers and always had multiple songs on DJ’s mixtapes, they wanted to be heard and DJs needed songs for their tapes. So many gems LOX put out free via mixtapes and I down hours searching downloading and burning as possible bc they’d disappear right from commercial consumption. But then the first model IPOD debuted....fuck it was revolutionary to music listening and loved it until the fucker got old and just stopped working like all early models naturally did over time. First IPod model remember so I’m clueless in its shelf life and realistically thought it’d function if taken care of. So basically iPod dies, can’t turn on ever again and link up to computer. I would transfer songs from PC to iPod then delete the MP3 file for memory space. Bottom line all my songs on iPod originally downloaded gone forever. And so was my D-Block mixtape catalogue...still have emotional attachment to that music as it was soundtrack to senior year and into college years. Getting old sucks
