To explain the Hierarchy thing. The western equivalent to what they were talking about here and also ateez is calling your manager by his first name or even bro instead of Mr.Smith ec

the best handsome/pretty and best singer is the part of old SM ent audition. It's called JJANG-FESTIVAL(best festival), there were norae-jjang(best singer), dance-jjang(best dancer), oe-mo-jjang(best handsome/pretty), yeon-gi-jjang(best actor).

I thought the whole hierarchy discussion was about how junior idols should speak to senior ones based off age/debut. In America, we don't have that structure, our culture is way more informal(although it depends on where you live and who you're speaking to). So, in your example, Olivia obviously respects Taylor but it's not like she going to say "Ms. Swift" every time she's brought up nor would I think Taylor would get offended if Olivia is talking to her casually.

this episode is a big deal for us 2nd gen stan tho it was wild on twitter (you might already knew it) bc like... it's been 14 years since they meet and talk in public broadcast 😭 even if it's only and youtube not national tv. i was crying a lot, seeing how they awkwardly talked to each other, it's giving bittersweet feelings. like, they're still consider themselves as long time friends yet that fucked up agency is so cruel to forbid them to be in contact with JYJ 😭 the only brave person who dare against SM decision was heechul, he's been hanging a lot with jaejoong ever since jyj break free from SM. he just had no fears 😂 people already know that jyj still friends with SM artist but seeing them like this is still unbelievable. like, "ah, we've been thru a lot huh? it's been 14 years..." yet we still cant see tvxq and jaejoong junsu to interact 🙂💔 (except that beautiful reunion of yunho and jaejoong in army 🫶🏻 and it was JUST because SM cant touch the national event!)

i think the heriarchy thing is not only for being an older group, remember how Taemin didn't want to be leader of SuperM despite his seniority, as a western person i also feel unecesary, but i think every person is different, thats why they just have those rules, (formally first and with that base, the idol who want to talk casually to their juniors can do it). Sooyoung knows, she didn't care but you can force everyone to be like that. I recommend you to watch Girls go to school, the predebut show of SNSD, they have a lot of SUJU SNSD interactions

44:27 The fandom name's from the whole "Boss Baby" thing because he's called "Boss". It's both cute and embarrassing to say that I'm in a fandom called "Babies"- 😅 44:45 Nah, girl, you didn't have to do us like that- 😭

But that's the thing in Korea though , to a certain extent being casual is being rude , and the poeple who grow up in that culture since day one can not accept that change even if they cognitively agree to it , plus I think there is another side to this ,a psychological social one I would say ,like specifically in the idol industry, it's an industry where there are very low chances you will succeed since it's veeeeeerry relative to a loooot of factors , hard work alone ayaint gonna cut it , but on the other side when you make it you MAKE IT BIG , like it's ridiculously rewarding, extremely overreawarding I would say , the money , the influence , the power one idol group can have can get quite out of control, but still very unstable, all this rant was me saying that this a very ambiguous unstable industry where basic respect, a fundamental human need since it's tightly related to achievement and pride , can be very hard to come by ,and issues like baseless confidence, entitlement , hierarchy abuse or disrespect, can thrive , the social organizationnal side of it is all over the place and they barely figured a syst for this , just go good old style and force poeple to respect those older then them and there is your hierarchy , and I don't think it's all bad , of course the bad side will be noticed first and fought against which is why being a boomer is now insulting and shameful , after that phase now they are openings their eyes to the lost positive side , the humbling ,grounding effect it had on young minds , " idol" minds , worshiped by millions ,but then disrespected by them , I am obviously reading too much into this like I usually do but I don't think the conservative side nor the liberating is wrong, either sides are right in their own ways , when it comes to issues in this industry I always believed it to be the industry's fault , the whole concept of " an idol " being a legit money earning occupation is wrong , which is why I like where it is going , the over generalization of it , when it's stops being special , when poeple starts seeing idols as purely what they are , entertainers , like any good movie , story or game, to kill time and enjoy ,then all of this , whatever issues the idol industry might have will be automatically solve themselves , a this was an unnecessary bloddy article that just flowed out of my keyboard , probably out of the subject too , sincerely hope it will be ignored 😅

check out jaefriends new video with yonghwa CNBLUE, you'd know the DIFFERENCE of how him treating handsome men 😂 he has always been like that, his ideal type once was HOT KANGTA 🙂😭 and yeah about Wooyoung (?idk who's him) i understand his point tho, in ASIA honorifics are so important we cant even call someone older than us as YOU and THEIR NAME, no. we have to use honorifics, like "brother (name)", "sister (name)" "sir" "maam" and never say YOU. example: normal english: sir, do you know where to go to X building? asian: sir, do SIR know where to go to X building sir? notice that there's no "YOU"? yeah, that's it. bc it'd be very impolite for asian people. especially in korea, even if you're the same age YOU CAN'T speak informally if you're not close, it's very very rude that's why jaefriends concept is him to make friends and have them to speak informally with him as close friends even if they're just me. you might already knew in korean there are "-ssi" "-nim" for formal and "-ah" or "-yah" for informal. i understand that you're disagree because you're western, we have a lot of difference in culture so you'd definitely consider it conservative 😂 even us, as SEA people, we think korean has more things to do with politeness. in SEA especially in Indonesia, you can be friends and talk casually right at the time you're just meeting that someone but in south korea, it's consider as a rude action. even asian people still have big gap in terms of politeness to south korea 🤣 let alone western.
