6:02 QB, please remember that for a lot of German vehicles the engine damage from the front is to the transmission and has no fire chance. WG removed the chance of a fire from the transmission ages ago.

The Jgtd 88 having the worst gun depression of the 3 in the comparison is strange, you'd think a smaller caliber gun would have more room to swing around in the cabin.

Honestly makes me very happy to see them make WOT classics like the T32 and Jagtiger premium tanks. Im way more interested in these than the new fangled premiums

Remember when they released the KanJPz 105? They released it with the possibility of trading the existing KanJPz (90 mm gun) with the new one. This is what that feels like, but without the possibility of trading the old Jagdtiger 8,8 for the Jagdtiger Pr and just putting it in boxes.

Honestly hope that I can get this one, because unlike the TIII or the recent reward TD, this one actually fits my Jagdtiger crew (and Jg Pz E 100, to some extent) perfectly. If it's anything like the Ferdinand, I'll definitely enjoy it 😁

Correction QB: The JT, as many other German tanks, has a front mounted transmission, NOT an engine. While transmission damage counts as engine damage for the purposes of losing engine power, it will never set you on fire. There's a 0% chance of fire, unless you actually get shot in the engine (which is in the rear) or fuel tanks (also in the rear). Preventative maintenance is nice, but not super important.

We've had this in Blitz for a good while now. They integrate the jadgtiger 8.8 and you have an optional tier 9 gun.

Years ago, the Jagdtiger used to have fearsome armor at tier 9. Now the exact same armor profile is barely good enough to work at tier 8...

I was lucky and got the Jägtiger Prototype with my first 5 keys last night. I LOVE this style of gameplay. Just bully your opponents into submission with a massive gun and trollishly thick armour. This tank is not meant to be played like a filthy camper. It is, like QB said, a turretless heavy tank. And it just looooves hugs. My first game with it was a resounding victory on Live Oaks. I took the town with a lower tier heavy, another TD and a med. we fought off a couple OP premium heavies and a few other TDs. I used the JtPt to hug a 705 II to death and completely harass a Vipera. Scared a Ka-Ri back to base along with a Skorp G and proceeded to farm them. All in all, I’d say this may be my new favourite tier 8 TD. I simply adore the Jägtiger Prototype. The Jägtiger 8.8 is fun. I love taking that tank out onto the battlefield but THIS version of it can trade and it trades hard! I’ve found also, at least on the NA server, that most people are scared to death of it. It’s incredibly easy to fluster players with this tank. Then they just become easy pickings. Great tank review, QB! Thanks again for more of your fun content! But personally, I don’t think you did this tank justice. You made it look a little weak. I don’t know. It looked like in the battles that you showed us that you were holding back a lot more than you typically would do. But I guess we’ve all still got to get a real feel for this thing. Who knows? Maybe once more people start playing the Jtiger Proto and learning how to fight it I’ll hate it and start playing it more passively as well. 😁 Best of luck to y’all on the battlefield! This was the only thing in the loot boxes I really wanted. I bought 50x of them and burned up most of my god re-rolling because every box was 1 day of premium or 3x demount kits which don't do my WoT+ using arse much good... I got the Senlac I got the 274a I got the ISU-152K I enjoy opening a reasonable number of boxes for the fun, so I don't mind. I'm just going to have to wait 3 or 4 months for this guy to appear in the regular shop.

If they down-tier anything, they should put the BT-7 back where it belongs.

I just got my Ferdinand fully upgraded and the tank kinda sucks but when you get that gun singing it’s such a great feeling. Standard German TD experience I guess 😅

Didn’t get this one in my pulls sadly, but I got the 274a in my very first pull and ended up with 3 tanks total so I wasn’t mad haha.

This is actually a surprise tank for me, I was expecting it to be wayyy slower than it is but the fact it has okay speed, great armour and a half good gun deffo makes it a worthwhile tank to play imho. My first couple games with it were very fun! but I was top tier in them so hard to say what the matchup us like otherwise...

Pretty sad when Jagtiger armor just barely holds up against tier 7s

I have it. Hardening, rammer and turbo. Seems decent enough to me.

i dont mind a low dpm if it has decent alpha and penn because i can add BIA, vents, rammer and consumable and none of those change the alpha but do a lot for the dpm / reload

Put turbo and improve roation in it, add fuel consumtion if possible and it will rock. You will get a JT with stock gun at tier 8.

This chassis is a lot better at tier 8, that's for certain. This tank looks like a slightly better Ferdinand, albeit with a smaller gun arc.

This tank is one of those that can be consistent. It's far from an OP tank, but it's actual a pretty strong one that provides good amount of tools for you to do the job. Armor to use in a good matchup, a full-TD gun to smack the hell out of everyone, enough mobility to be where you need to be, and on top of that, it has good amount of HP. In my honest opinion, this tank is quite well designed for the current meta, it has enough of overall flexibility to be consistent, unlike the Turtle that is always in need of good matchups. This thing can smack the hell out of even tier 10s while the Turtle is nothing more than a meatball when you meet someone who can pen its superstructure.

I bought the JT 8.8 10 years ago or so and it was quite good. Enemys weren't shootin gold the whole time cause gold ammo was to be paid with gold and not with credits...but today it hurts sittin in the 8.8, it's a crappy tank with a poor gun and no armor...though it's 250 on paper...

Hey QB can u cover this ridiculous event and is it worth struggle? I dont really find it interesting. And also is it worth 30 bucks to buy t42 and 2 0perk crew? I actually really like crew :D

Actually i did so good with the Ferdinand and the jagtiger idk why but im at 70 win rate with both tanks for some reason i resonated with those tanks and id be playing them aggressively

Funnily enough I do use coated optics on the Jagdtiger 8.8 because it has 390m base! This way its worth it at least.

What might be the best field modifications for this TD please?

Whelp I bought 200 engineer starters for about $160. So I was guaranteed at least 4 of the premium vehicles. However, I received 9! Yes that's right 9!! And what was amazing was I received 3 in a row. Yep back to back to back rolls revealed 3 premium vehicles. Then I had used enough re-rolls to guarantee myself another, as one revealed itself on the 11th click. I needed the Jag Pro, 274a, Jager, Obj. 283, T54, K-2 and M-IV-Y. So at least this time I'm not too upset with wargaming seeing as I also got about 25k more gold and 10m more credits among all the other goodies. Needless to say, that was well worth the investment. Now to try and get some marks on the Obj. 283 while it's still relatively new. NC, USA

QB, I think you missed one of the biggest differences: Jagdtiger prototype lower plate is massively upgraded from normal Jagdtiger 100mm to 120mm!!!

Calling the version that was actually fielded a prototype while the "standard" JT has a made up gun is awkward.

Now... this looks like the tech-tree Jagdtiger is also a vehicle that shoud have been a tier lower than it is, and now it is boosted to be a tier IX only by stats and a gun which it wouldn't be able to physically mount IRL. Another line that should have had some vehicles shuffled down, with Ferdi losing the ugly 128mm (and maybe gaining the long 105mm to differentiate it from Jagdpanther) and dropping as alternate tier VII, Jagdtiger losing the long 128mm and having the shorter 128mm as a top gun, and a new tier IX with long 128 and 150mm gun options (a "long-superstructure Jagdtiger", something on E-50 or E-75 chassis, or a 128mm/150mm variant of StuG E-100)...

All good info on this and the TIII Jager... unfortunately not on the NA servers... LOL.

Can we argue that the bourrasque is quite simply op? Played my AMBT recently and despite having all the unlocks, a decent crew, and a CVS, I got outspotted and flanked on an open field. Which if you ask me, is a joke.

Jagdtiger used to be my utmost favorite tank, but after years it got stomped into mud by meta tanks, sluggish and easily penned by 9s and 10s... so this feels pretty good. wish i had it

Gearbox is at front, engine at back. But its still high chance. Honestly, quite OP for tier 8. Tier 6-7 tanks will have hard times to deal with him at range.

What the hell is the real difference in 20 meters of view range? Wow, you spot someone 1 second before they see you, hopefully that 1 extra shot you get doesn’t miss or bounce. Doesn’t make any sense to say you don’t even need view range equipment on the 88 and absolutely can’t spot anything with the jag proto

Once you meet Tier 9 tanks shooting gold or Tier 10 tanks shooting their normal rounds the armor on this thing becomes meaningless just like its tech tree cousin.

Wargaming really missed their chance to make this one look different, they could have made the jagdtiger with porsche suspension. That was if I am right the real jagdtiger prototype, also lets not forget the zimmerit that would have been accurate to model onto this one. To bad they went to lazy route.

i got 4 tanks from 75 boxes including this tank and both tier 9s so happy with that, good thing about this tank is the fact that i can just put my JGpnz e100 crew in it.

Slow , armor fails vs gold. So it a slow , big swiss cheese with a low dpm gun. Sounds like fun 😂

So, we just reached the point where the only way to defeat premium tier 8 tanks is a strait up tier 9 td…

This tank is probably fine for farming credits in random battles, but it doesn't seem remotely competitive with the top t8 premiums. Tanks like this would be a lot more exciting if not for mistakes WG made in the past with their balance decisions.

At this point I think JgdTiger 88 should be lowered to tier 7 and remove PMM while JgdTiger Prototype should remain at tier 8 with full MM. It would be a natural progression from a gameplay perspective. There's no point in having the JgdTiger 88 in the same tier as the Prototype.

I stopped playing wot a long time ago. QB is still keeping it relevant for me though.

This will be a niche tank. When you're on a map with good MM you will dominate... but when you're on a map that doesn't stack up to strengths of this tank and you're facing tier 10s this one will feel lackluster. This is a tank I believe will scale with player skill if you're a 49% WR player with sub 5,000 rating you will probably hate this tank.

When and how does this tank become available?? I just looked and it is NOT in the tech tree of my European account at least!

Playing Jagdtiger Pr. with bad armor and 490 alfa at tier IX, X. Me playing Caernarvon AX with bad armor and 230 alfa against tier IXs and Xs...

After all these years, Wargaming is still able to find ways to make sure German tanks are balanced. Cannot say the same for the other nations.

Will I have been watching you for over 11 years, I don't like commenting. Do you remember how good the camo is on the Concept 5 versus Light Tanks and Leopard 1? The camo on the Concept 5 sucks when dealing with them tanks. You shouldn't have push out in the 260.
