If they use "universe" the same way as it is used by almost everyone in this day and age when relating to IP, it probably means the same continuity, not just similar theme. It could be a different planet or Gielinor itself. Maybe set in the past or the future. So I wouldn't be surprised if the it had the same monsters and equipment, but just in a different game genre, survival game in this case. Which could be a lot of fun. My main concern is that there are a lot of survival games and a lot of survival games that have died out. So the market is fairly saturated. Making this game unique and able to justify it's existance will be diffucult. They will need to innovate some new thing that revolutionises the genre, OR take the staples of the genre and just do those way better than any competition.
Yeah, I hope that worlds in takes place in is actually Gielenor! Imagine running around in 1st and 3rd person with really fluid movements. They must surely be able to take RS3's already designed and graphically updated world and use this?
I honestly think it would be a disservice if Araxxor didn't feature as a terrifying raid boss. For me, Rax isn't scary. Put me into a first person perspective and I'll crap myself as I'm getting chased through the dungeon crying Rax's name.
Yeah, recognizable RS3 bosses should be in the new game too, I think. With VR support for maximal pant-shitting-effect 😆 imagine looking up in the air, only to see Jad's fireball imcoming
The Forest/Sons of the Forest, and Minecraft seem to suggest that the type of crafting will be open where you have to manually arrange items in a specific way to craft, instead of just clicking a blueprint and clicking confirm. The Forest/Sons of the Forest, Minecraft, Conan Exiles, and Ark seem to suggest that the type of construction will also be open where you manually place segments and arrange them so they form a structure. The crafting and construction in these games is more like Lego where you place piece by piece, instead of whole blueprints, which is pretty good and immersive, although I've seen people have quite a bit of trouble with Sons of the Forest since the slightest change in angle will completely change how you construct or place the segment. The exclusion of games like Subnautica also seems to suggest that the crafting and construction will not be focusing on clicking a blueprint, but manually placing materials and segments. Most of those games also seem to suggest that food will be scarce and the primary way to have sustainable food will be to construct a farm of some sort. Ark and Palworld seem to suggest that there will be animal taming. Sons of the Forest, Ark, and Minecraft also have NPCs which you can guide around to do some of the manual labor and combat for you. I'm not familiar with some of those games, but the ones I know have basic combat where you build better weapons and armor and go bashing enemies. I assume the death mechanic will have you respawn with nothing, but you can return to the spot you died to reclaim your stuff. Ranged and magic combat is also probably involved since it's Runescape. Another game I think would fit this list is Osiris: New Dawn, but alas, that game was abandoned, picked up by another studio, and abandoned again, so it's not in the best shape. I also wonder if those random games like Fallout, Voidtrain, Raft, 7 Days to Die, Stranded Deep, or Grounded would be inspiration in some way. I really like how, in Raft, you can open a blueprint and if you don't have the required materials, but the materials themselves have a craftable blueprint, you can craft those materials within the same blueprint without closing out and hopping around different blueprints.
keep it as close to the runescape we know as possible. if you do that, it'll be a success. just add a 'real life' element to our characters - we get hungry, cooking skill. we get hot/cold depending on the environment we're in, crafting. weapons degrade with use, smithing. all the usual resource gathering skills can stay the same. i think this could be big! think RUST + RUNESCAPE, how good would that be, monthly wipes / seasons.
They're literally making a new game. There won't be a Runescape 4 until this survival game has run its course at least. You're basically asking Bethesda about Fallout 5 while Elder Scrolls 6 is still another decade away.
@@Galimeer5 my gee, that went right over your head, he means the survival game is basically runescape 4, I know i know, words are hard, its okay, try reading slowly.
Honestly I'm so down for this. As a big fan of both RS and survival games this is literal perfection. I mean imagine actually having to SURVIVE in Morytania instead of dodging ghasts in the swamp like Usain Bolt. If only they could port the base building to replace POHs
I really hope the graphics are as flavorful as OSRS, with the lore of RS3, and good movement mechanics. this could really be a smash hit if jagex leans into their strengths instead of trying to copy everyone else.
Honestly... I just hope the soundtrack is good... i think soundtrack can really make or break a survival game. The Music and sounds have so much influence on the overall atmosphere and tension of the game. It must feel whimsical.
curious to see if they actually succeed in release anything that exists for more than a couple of years. Oh they tried a lot in the past but we still have basically Runescape in both forms today from Jagex Studios.
I really hope they use mostly RS3 Worldbuilding with some osrs sprinkles in there, RS3 is sooo good, as for animal taming RS3 has summoning so that could be used as a base for it if they include that
I'm playing Runescape now during Halloween event, been a member couple of years now. I want to see more ability to team up on harder levels by choice, more bank spaces as the amount given, even purchasing runs out too quick. Besides this, I can't think of too many things that are wrong with the game as I enjoy it. I just hope the next RS will eventually go to console or VR but keeping the same amount of game play and events and that this alpha game will be great. I would sign up for it but my computer barely runs this game, yet a second one but will play it if released full game.
Could be interesting. Hopefully they draw from those games you mentioned. The survival elements in them are awesome. I’ve played enshrouded, subnautica extensively, along with Minecraft extensively, valheim extensively, V-rising… fingers crossed!
Is it too much to think that the world and lore is going to be ported over into a HCIM of sorts game mode for the new game with the only difference being its set in unreal engine and the combat system is different with core gameplay tweaks?
Very excited. I think unlike other survival games they need to keep most the skills and level progession to say 99 - 120 the same/ keep skillcapes and possibly even a similar highscores to the other games. That way, you get the awesome engaing gameplay and graphics of an updated game but the same feel as runescape. Just an opinion!
In my opinion, jagex should make an combat-heavy ARPG and port a shitload of rs3 abilities, spells and specs. Rs3 has a lot of potential but tick system and tiles make it severely outdated.
I'm really interested in this, and hope it turns out to be a well made game! It might be the game I've always wished for! If they wish for long-term success, it needs to have a coop-function for at least 4 players in the same world. Kinda like group Ironman, you might say 🤩😅💡
Hey protox check out a game called vintage story, just picked it up myself it's a minecraft survival game but with way more detail in the survival mechanic.
i have played all the games jagex made and all of them have been shut down except for runescape remember transformers ? or the card game or any of their flops they got plenty its gonna be the same with this ill still play and somewhat enjoy but it will just die again
Jagex has been trying to make another big game since "mechscape". Every few years we hear about another project Jagex is doing and nothing ever comes from it
I'll believe it when I see it. Other than funorb flash games they have cancelled everything they say is coming. We'll just get more lackluster updates until a holiday or new boss comes around again lol
Do you currently play any survival games? I love those types of games! I usually play mobile though, so my options are limited lol my current go-to is Frostborn. It’s a mobile game and pretty enjoyable! Like a lot of the concepts in it.
Not as of the current moment but I've played both Subnautica and Enshrouded recently. Frostborn (just from a quick trailer glance) looks good, but I have not played it before
@@ProtoxxGaming if you ever decide on Frostborn, me and my friend have a family and can add you to it. You basically farm resources to upgrade base. There are bossing areas you can kill higher level things for higher level rewards. Then you upgrade your “district” using resources to expand your game and allow you to make higher level items. I enjoy it a good bit!
@@ProtoxxGaming later in game too, you can do PVP raids and really learn to use different “classes” (all of which you can perform tasks to upgrade them, making them stronger). Each class is ideal with specific armor and weapon types and each one has 2 special abilities you can use in combat as well.
Jagex let RuneScape die and suffer to make this game - but seeing how they’ve treated the community and game who in their right might would ever give this game time or sales?
I'd rather wait years for a finished game than an unfinished one. I love Alpha chance but release when it's complete. Like GTA 6. There isn't a timeline and the hype is real they'll be fine.
Yo wtf why haven’t they made a rework to the game world? Why not put that effort into making RuneScape 4? New graphical overhaul, not just the graphics but recreate cities like Varrock and Ardougne to look vast and crowded, much like the GWD3 Senntistin or however it’s spelled.
Gotta be honest, i never touched minecraft. I saw the weird blocks and thought “weird graphics” and never wanted to see what it is lol. And i played 07 rs
God forbid the developers make a little money for all the hard work and maintenance they put into YOUR entertainment. You act like Jagex throwing in the OPTION of mtx is taking an arm and a leg from you and ruining your game. If other people buying keys or bonds ruins your gaming experience then you shouldn’t even be playing the game honestly.
You act like Jagex only has a handful of Jmods working for it 😂 Or not working under the same roof as each other. Relax and sip some tea... Rs3 is not going anywhere yet.
Can't wait for them to get 90% of the way through then cancel it like they did with *checks notes* every single game they've worked on. Jagex is such a mismanaged company the only reason they haven't collapsed is because OSRS has its own isolated management.
hmmm an open world game with monsters, action combat , leveling system, crafting system, potion system wouldn't that be skyrim with a fishing and survival mod? 🤣
This isnt the first time Jagex has tried to launch a new game...they have have a history of attempting to make/publish new games, it has not gone well. I really hope this one is a hit but...the story history tells does not favor Jagex. Block N Load dead FunOrb dead 8Realms dead Carnage Racing dead Chronicle: RuneScape Legends dead War of Legends dead Herotopia dead Ace of Spades dead Space Punks alive...but do you know anyone who has played? Bouncedown dead Transformers Universe dead Stellar Dawn dead RuneScape: Idle Adventures dead While the stable of *live* games is RuneScape, Old School RuneScape, Melvor Idle (Text based RuneScape), SCUM and This Means Warp...the latter three all were not developed at all by Jagex, they just came along and acquired publishing rights...
