One of the most beautiful things I see in old videos like this is the audience listening to how calmly and comfortably they sit and experience the moment, whereas today's generation is just busy making videos and we can't experience that moment, the video is recorded but the moment passes.

So this isn't a ghazal, it's a musical form known as tappe (tupp-ay) and it's a rolling, sweetly melodious but oddly structured style, usually used to betray the inner sentiments of lovers or a lover. This particular version pokes fun at the form and its usual purpose: the couple are making sly digs at each other, with each revealing the other's shortcomings or complaining about their life together. It's funny, charming and with a sweet "life is crazy, let's make the most of it and try not to bicker" kind of ending.

Unfortunately the days when we could hear such classics and watch such legends, are all long. I remember waking up early on Sunday mornings just to watch such shows. Not many channels in those days but at least we could watch and listen to something decent, unlike nowadays.

Very hard to believe tht JAGJIT is no more.. I play this song on daily basis on max vol to keep aside traffic stress in delhi , especially in night.. So JAGJIT is still with me during my safar from office to home.. Miss u badly jagjit saheb..
