Not very long @ all. You need bare minimum 125GL for one male, as they can get well over 18" SL. This is a mild Jag...mine would kill the rest of these fish in short order.
Those are some of the best cichlids I have ever seen! Your red terror female is fucking amazing as is your jag! Keep up the good work man, it seems that you have this shit down to a science!
the striped red one is a red terror AND not very terrifying; each collection of fish establishes a certain understanding or not understanding; takes time and experimentation.....this is an extraordinary combo of understanding, if you will. From this alone, I've decided to try and get a couple of female red terrors and a manguenese for a 75 gallon tank.....nice job smoothoperator.
@28rampage ive been blending raw green prawn and whitebait and vegetables and raw eggs, then put it on a baking tray lined with foil and cook on low heat until the eggs firm the whole thing up and then remove and cut into pieces and freeze for use.my fish love it
@Bigj913 yeah , i did exactly the same thing when i bought mine. the males are usually bigger and more dominant. mine was nearly black when i got him and i had my doughts that it was a jag because it was so dark... but he turned out good..... good luck with your jag, they are an awsome fish to keep. when he gets bigger u should post a vid of him
I love your tank, the jaguar is beautiful, the water is clear, the fish are happy and the video is good quality. But I wonder how they live so peaceful and not fighting each other. I have a tank of jewel cichlid, they keep fighting all day long.
in my experience yes i have a 12 inch jaguar who shared a tank with a 10 inch oscar , 12 inch pleco and 4 8-9 inch green terrors.I came home one night and they had ripped each other to shreds. At the time the jag was similair in size to the oscar . he has grown more since I put him in his own tank with just a large pleco . Growing handomley indeed :).
@jacksonjones402 i cant speak for all jags, but mine has a great personality, hes interactive and has never tried to bite me. i can put my hand right next to him and he doesnt care. if i touch him he casually swims away. hes a great cichlid. i think some people tease their fish and like all animals if u repeatedly tease them they will become aggressive, people should know better. its not the animals fault. if u get a jag , i suggest getting a small one and raising it, so u know its temperament.
recently ive started making my own food because my food bill was getting crazy, i used to use hikari sinking pellets. but they were about $20 a bag and would last about a week.. since making my own i can feed all my fish in the 6 by 2 by 2 and my other 15 tanks for a month for about $20 a month and jag gets a full belly every feed. i think they werent getting enough nutrients before on the pellets
@Cybersix1980 its a latex backround, with sand stuck to it, looks pretty realistic. my jag is about 1.5 years old and about 13 inches, i hope he keeps growing!

@tigerJproductions Oh you're talking about the red terror? Yeah they're etch, I'm suprised this guy has one in his tank, they're pretty much a solo kept fish.
@aqinthe i think u are refering to the small female jag.... its funny my big jag was a very similar colour when it was young but changed as it matured... but his markings were a lot stronger
@Guilweezy if hes alone and very young, hes probably just scared of hes new surroundings. mine hid for about a week until he felt familiar with hes tank and then he had a huge appetite and grew really fast and tried to fight all his tank mates, he was only 3 inches when i got him
@smoothoperatork1 Wow, then he just has great color! you take great care of him! I think your smaller one looks pretty normal in my opinion. On a side note, I think an Oscar/Betta cross would be cool. Like 4 inches long...ahh that'd be awesome
How big is the tank? Do you know if I could keep the Jag and a Convict in a 75 gal? And also if it was your choice would you pick an Oscar or a Jag? Thanks a bunch
Wow really love the fish you have, this is actually my dream fish tank for me. I love cichlids but i never have any good luck with them with keeping the peace in my tank think you can give some pointers?
@divine50cent as far as i know its just the standard jag, most of the ones i see in sydney have a some blue in their fins, he had more when he was young and more gold, but as hes getting older it seems to be fading
