The trickiest part of the job is the bit he glossed over. Swapping the sensor. It's hard to get at behind that plastic liner and the replacement part I used (aftermarket) was a nightmare to clip back on to the two locating holes in the chassis. Had to get the wife to hold back the plastic liner while I tried to lever it into the holes with very little room to get any purchase on it. Even just lining it up with the holes is tricky. The bolts for the caliper carrier (21mm) are hard to get currently tried several suppliers but out of stock. Eventually found genuine JLR ones at £5/ bolt on ebay. The torque and angle specs given here are in agreement with the service manual. The caliper slide pin bolts are 11mm hex as stated in the video. Best check you have one before you start.

Wow you saved my neighbor a lot of money having me do this brake pad change, one thing I missed first time I watched was the 11 MM hex, had to order that thing, went ahead and bought 3 on Amazon...I like being able to help a neighbor out jaguar wants too much money for this simple brake job, by the way the rear was way more involved . Thank you for this video

Thank you for your feedback Stephen, its great to hear you found our videos useful and helped out your neighbour. Indeed the rear is more involved with the need to put the parking brake into service mode etc. :)

One question, I'm trying to reset the wear sensor warning on the dash... I've tried with the ignition on only with the bonnet open and the driver door open...depress the brake and gas simultaneously for 10 to 15 sec.... nothing resets ??? Please help

@@stephenalcorn8334 Hi Stephen, did you replace the wear sensor with a brand new one?

@@stephenalcorn8334 Usually it resets when a new wear sensor is fitted, however it may be that there is a fault with the new wear sensor or that there is another wear sensor being triggered. Have you replaced the rear discs, pads and wear sensor?

Thanks for the video and all of the comments/feedback. This will be extremely helpful and essential to me, for I am replacing the front brakes on my wifes Jaguar F-Pace! 👏🏾

Great video - looks like I'm the first to comment. I'm in New Zealand and bought some suspension parts for my 2004 XKR from you guys around 2 years back. I found you to be a lot cheaper than trying to source parts here in NZ, you'd be quite surprised by the prices we're forced to pay here actually I think. Even including international shipping your prices were still much cheaper. I can't recommend your company enough! 👌👍

Thank you for your lovely feedback Trevor! We really value feedback like this and its great to know you value our service. We do receive many comments similar to yourself regarding pricing in NZ and USA. We also tend to have much faster shipping in the USA compared to domestic internal shipping, with customers receiving their order within 5 days in the States :)

Thank you so much for this excellent video. I have a Range Rover Velar D300 V6 and the parts and process are identical to your Jaguar F-Pace. I followed your instructions step by step with my iPad propped up in my garage while the front our car was on a pair of axle stands. A couple of thoughts which may be helpful for others…. Firstly, my brake pad wear sensor came with the little clip already installed. I only realised this when I struggled to get it inserted because I had also slid the old clip on top of it. Oops! So, best to check whether your parts supplier gives you a sensor with or without the clip. Second, I see you’re using copper slip. My pads and discs are from Bosch and they state that copper slip / copper grease should not be used as it conducts and can interfere with the ABS sensor, plus a few other reasons. Bosch have their own alternative but I hadn’t ordered it. Instead, my local specialist car parts supplier had some ceramic grease which is suitable for cars with ABS sensors and can withstand very high operating temperatures. The front bolts for the callipers are 21mm, as you say. My set only reaches 19mm but my workaround was to use the 21mm socket for the wheel bolts on the end of my torque wrench. There’s plenty of space behind the assembly because one can turn the wheel hub to make access easier. Not ideal but it worked, although I’ll be investing in some extra bits for my toolkit for next time. Anyway, thank you so much. I am half way through the job with just the rear pair to do now. The standard franchise dealer fixed price for all four pads and discs is just under £1,300 at a Land Rover garage. The parts, including some carbide HSS metal drill bits needed to drill out the shaft of a stubborn torx screw on one of the old discs means my total investment in parts has been £550. That’s not cheap, (using Bosch parts sourced online though AutoDoc) but a big saving on the dealer prices (and the standard JLR discs, whilst even more expensive are truly rubbish because they suffer rampant corrosion even when just they hear the BBC weather forecast of rain on its way!). These cars are lovely but they ain’t cheap to run. I pay for the JLR official extended warranty which protects me from component failures but not wear and tear consumables like brakes etc. I am very grateful to you all at Rimmer Brothers - thank you again.

Thanks for the video. Cheeky of jag to use 11mil hex knowing the average person won’t have that size. Do you know if it’s the same method for the 3.0 s f pace think the callipers on the left of the front wheel on them?

Thanks for this great video. On the video for the rear brakes, Hans shows how to put the parking brake into maintenance mode. Should this be done for the front brakes as well?
@RimmerBrosTV
@RimmerBrosTV Год назад
Thanks for the feedback Alan! No need to put the parking brake into maintenance mode for the front rakes as the parking brake is only on the rear brakes.

Is it necessary to replace the disks also when replacing the pads on the jaguar F pace?
@kirwanjohn101

Disks only need to be changed if they have reached their minimum thickness level or are badly worn, i.e have a large lip or are scorred badly. The minimum thickness level is marked on the disk.

You didn’t show how to decompress the break so once the pad comes off the break hub doesn’t push out
@Arianne2019

If you mean the brake piston, it doesn’t. I did this very job just yesterday and you wind the piston back with the tool shown in the video. The piston then stays in position and won’t extend itself again until you pump the brake pedal just prior to road testing it. By that point, everything is properly reassembled and good to go. The rear brakes are different because they have an electronic parking motor which will drive the piston out if you haven’t already put the whole system into Brake Servicing Mode. But this video is only about the front brakes, not the rear. Does that help at all?

We agree with David's reply, we do have a video demonstrating the procedure for the rear brakes if you needed to see.
