I had the H441 software update carried out in late August 2023, and in late October (after a rapid DC charge to 90+%) I had the fault alert and restricted charging to 72%. I took the car for repair in the first week of December, the dealer transported it to another dealer that had the trained technician to work on the battery, and I got it back after 3 months in the first week of March. I had reasonable updates on progress and was provided with a loan car (Evoque P300e plug-in hybrid) for the three months. Delay seemed to have been caused by shortage of battery installation kits (the seals that keep water out of the battery pack) rather than the battery modules that needed replacing. So far, so good since then, and my car is not listed among the 2018/19 models subject to a further recall (H484) for complete new battery pack.

I finally pick mine up from Jaguar tomorrow after 5 months waiting new battery replacement. Huge delay on getting batteries from LG. Jaguar customer service is one of the worst experiences ever. Hopefully car is back up and running when I get it back tomorrow

My I-Pace had the H484 recall recently. The high voltage battery was replaced with a new one. I had no problems before and I hope this will stay the same after the replacement. I was suprised to see the dealership carry out the replacement in 4 hours, I expected it to take days.

Maybe a faulty temperature sensor. Jaguar should have recalled all I-Paces and replaced the batteries like GM and Hyuandi/Kia did as it was a manufacturing fault

It’s a common issue after the recall. If you get the high voltage error but the car still charges to 100% then the 12 volt battery (or batteries if you have the older car) need changing. They tend to start failing after 3 years.

My 21 plate iPace has been in the dealership since March..( its now June) with a similar issue, unable to charge on high power, fine at home. As a high mileage driver this is a big issue, so after being quite pushy with Jaguar they yielded and loaned me a 23 plate. Apparently the issue is a faulty cell, diagnosed by the mobile engineer they sent out to me. I still have no idea when my own car will be ready as battery parts apparently take ages to arrive.

I have the same fault code on my ipace, and the battery charging has limited to 72%. I have been in contact with Jaguar, and they stated the high voltage battery needs replacing. I've been told the batteries are on back order they will collect my vehicle and give me a replacement vehicle while they change the battery. I understand there are a number of people who are in the same situation and have been waiting to have the battery replaced since February of this year. I haven't had a chance to use a rapid charger, so I can't report back if that is even going to work on my vehicle.

Your lucky jaguar at York told me there's no courtesy car never mind pick up and drop off, I'm basically stranded when I drop my car off, not good customer service at all from JLR

You seem to have hit the nail on the head, with the temperature, either a cell or temp control fault, a shame you no longer have the car, being able to monitor the battery temp through the OBD/app as you were about to start fast charging after motorway driving and also during charging, I cant remember but one of the OBD apps shows the battery cell temp and or as a whole, the fact that there is never an issue when either the battery is cold or 7kw charging, points to a temperature control fault issue. Had my I-Pace for some months now and have not had this issue, bought the car with 20K miles now up to almost 25K. Thanks for the info though....

Great service from his call to Jaguar...the car is over 3 years old, and although we sold you a car with dodgy batteries, tough luck, not our problem. Sorry to hear you're stuck on a long journey and not able to charge...actually, no, we're not sorry, bye! And 6 weeks before they can even look at the car???? I found the same when I had my Merc. In the old days Merc only sold prestige cars, and the dealerships were not too busy. Now they sell millions of shitty little A and C classes on leases and the service dept is inundated with them, so you can't get it in for several weeks.

i hope you get an update on this issue as i will be interested in what the problem is, as i've had this alarm a couple of times and only after fast charging the car and been driving for around 1 1/2 hours, me being me i just ignored it and put it down to a hot battery with driving and charging

This happened to me. I took it in and they had to change the Electric motor, also changed out the charging port. My Ipace is in the service center finishing up the fixes now.

My Jaguar has done this 14 times and has been into the dealership and they can’t find the fault. They are now saying the battery cannot cope with a high speed delivery of energy. When it does it if you drive away it re sets itself and the fault doesn’t show up. Eventually it does just fail. My ipace is a 2020 model. My battery is now starting to fail and doesn’t hold a good charge and charges very slowly. I know this because they gave me a new ipace as a courtesy vehicle and it was way better. Sadly the ipace is not fit for purpose if you do long miles 😬

Thanks for taking the time to comment. That’s really bad and sounds like you should have a claim under the battery warranty?

I got same fault last week with 400miles journey(Manchester to Paris). And same situation with you. I need keep wait for cool down and charge it. Maybe I’m too rude to my I pace, my socket lock not going down and I cannot lock the charging cable. So it can’t be charge. At the end need call insurance and my ipace still in France.😢

When you got the fault, waited 10 minutes for the battery to cool then re plugged in and got a successful charge was the car on? Asking this because I believe the thermal management system will especially run when the car is on? But not at all or as robust when car is off? I've noticed in very hot temperatures with my Ipace which is a MY 22' HSE in the US, the energy potential miles leaf savings screen that shows your HVAC usage, cooled seats etc is a high number 20-40 + potential mile savings and your GOM drops dramatically when car & battery is hot and HVAC is running full speed coolant thermals to cool the cabin and the battery down. I confirmed this using my OBD reader watching the coolent inlet 45 deg F and outlet temps 90+ and then it would break down cell temperatures min and max and average. Also thinking about what my Ipace replacement will be in a year or two. Thinking about the polestar 4... Looking forward to your next video :)

My car is in garage since start may due to same fault . They fixed it once and another battery error came up. Seriously thinking of returning the car as it has now became a scandal. The car has lost lot of its value as well. Obviously due to this the car value will further drop.

I've a 70 plate ipace with 25,000 miles on it, dreaded battery traction fault and reduced braking, is this the H441 issue also it's booked in at Hatfields york jaguar, is this a JLR issue or do I get a big bill? I know the battery is covered under warranty but what about the cars age? Any advice is welcome, thanks

Just had traction battery fault on my 71 plate after charging to 100% at home on Thursday night. Would only charge to 72% last night. Jaguar technician reported today faulty cell will need replacing. Seems Lloyd's Jaguar York is going to be busy! 380 mile run up to Inverness planned next Sunday for a holiday. Oh the joys!

Hi,2019 ipace brought July 2023, 1 owner, same message came up jan this yr ,eventually car failed to charge. After inspection by ev independent needs both 12v batteries replacing and 3 !! Modules on hv battery . 21k estimated 31k new battery pack .car on pcp both finance company and garage , non jaguar , not interested currently subject of the ombudsman . Is it constantly rapid charging of the battery??

That really is a bad experience. However your main battery is covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles so you are covered unless you have gone over 100k? Just high powered charging isn’t the best for the battery particularly if you are dropping to nearly zero and back to 100% every day. However batteries are expected to outlast the vehicle hence such long guarantees. Hope you get it sorted.
