I totally agree. I bought mine a few months ago and love it! It has depreciated a lot in Norway, but that only means it’s a great value for money car used. It uses to much electrons, but the ride is great. Especially in properwinter conditions, as we’ve been having in Norway this season👏🏻

Looking to buy a used i pace myself and have seen late 2022/early 2023 very high spec versions for well under £40k i.e. less than half new price. Sure, there are more efficient, faster charging EV's but if you want a GREAT driving experience combined with luxurious comfort and useful tech at around £35k to £39k what EV alternatives are there?

We bought our I Pace 10 months ago. It is an absolute fantastic car and we love it! The one thing I love is that it has knobs and switches to control climate, heated windscreen and rear screen and many other functions unlike some EVs where everything is controlled through a large iPad type screen. It is Our first EV, there is a steep learning curve on owning and running an EV, but fortunately there is plenty of good RU-vid resources to help. The one thing I don’t like is the depreciation especially after Sunak pushed back the date to 2035 of only new EVs being sold.

They are going for £18k to £20k at 3.5 years old, 40k miles. Looks a "bargain"at that price. However there's the new super mini mini Squad Solar 2 seater for only 6k new. Which has a rechargeable solar panel roof system that adds 20 miles a day to the battery. Literally a free to use city car. Very different car but it's also expected to seriously disrupt the market. It's 6 x more efficient than this Jaguar. Expected to cost about the same as renting a bicycle when rented through apps in cities.

Electric cars are like the first pentium computers. Every year, they get faster, cheaper, and their power density increases. Then there's the Jaguar I-Pace, which is still running 6 year old stats with 6 ear old prices.
@EugeneTolmachev
@EugeneTolmachev 4 месяца назад
They actually bumped the prices last year, it used to be competitive with Model Y, which is simply ridiculous considering how different the two cars are. It's priced similarly to Model S, BMW iX and Polestar 3 right now, and still cheaper than Model X or Porche Tycan. So if you are shopping in that segment then it's still priced very competitively.

I got my 2019 First edition I Pace last June in Los Angeles with 15k miles for only $40,000, when new it was $90k because it has every available option. I absolutely love it, and even though it’s now 5 years old it constantly gets people attention because they’re rare and still look quite modern. I drive a lot and it’s been such a solid workhorse so far but we’ll see as a rack on the miles. Degradation seems to be very little as I can get 240 miles out of it still. My absolute single favorite thing about it is those 22 inch carbon fiber wheels. Just gorgeous and very unique to a vehicle in this price point.

The real world range with my 2022 I-Pace has been about 220 miles. Which is about the same as my previous 2019 Tesla Model 3 (despite its advertised 320 miles of range. Tesla loves to over-promise and underdeliver.) What needs updated is the charging speed. Although that only matters on long road trips. Day to day, I-Pace is still the best all-around EV on the market in my opinion.
@disambigujason

@@AppleExplainedif I was looking to buy today, should I expect speed to increase with the opening of the Tesla network? Love this car but I do road trip a lot. Debating between an older I pace and a 22 polestar. Sounds like similar range in 2024 but slower charging would be another knock.
@petehelme7714

@@disambigujason sadly, even though Magna suggested some charging improvements over the years with their internal i-Pace prototypes, Jaguar decided not to bite on changes. So no, even when these have access to Tesla Superchargers next year(?) via adapters in the US, they will be stuck at 100 kW. if you want something similar, but a bit more updated, I'd take a look at the Polestar 3.

Incredibly beautiful car, luxury interior and g force inducing acceleration. A used car bargain and I love mine that I picked up recently for just 22.5k. However, here are some things I dislike in case anyone is considering and put off by these: - High charge consumption. Even driving conservatively it does burn through battery quite quickly in my experience. - Slow charging - can go 30-80%ish overnight on a home charger which works for me but if you do a lot of mileage or don’t have a drive and space for a home charger then could be an issue. - The boot design means water drips on your head when putting things in the boot if it’s been raining which in the UK it often has. - The charging port is front passenger side which is a small thing but annoys me as I like to reverse park and the charger then doesn’t reach so have to drive in forward. Personal preference but a heads up. If you’re not put off by those things or doing high mileage this is an absolute bargain of a used car in my opinion.

The elephant in the room is the woeful support / services framework around the IPACE. I've had several problems in the Hampshire area and there is a 2-3 month waiting time to get the car booked in for a service/repair. At one point one of the dealers advised Jaguar Assistance should be used as the car would fail completely before there was a chance to get the car in for a repair. They were right. If the dealer network around their sole EV - the IPACE struggle to support, I have grave concerns how they are going to support a completely new EV line up given that they will still need to support/service 20-30+ years of Jags in the system in addition to a completely different architecture and platform based on EV.

They seem to have been severely affected by the supply chain issues, more so than other manufacturers. Last 3 years not only it was hard to find one to buy, but according to the internets 2000 JLR customers have been waiting for parts. Supposedly they've cut the queue in half now and are increasing curtesy fleet available, but yeah... I'm not looking forward to the moment I may need a service.

Friends of mine just had to wait 6months with their car off the road waiting for a new rear brake light assembly part from.... Audi; it was an Audi Q5 (could not pass MOT without it). Parts shortages are all over the place. All car manufacturers make a longer and longer proprietary BOM (parts list) every time they bring out a new model. Regulators should be jumping on the industry for this and forcing some level of standardisation.

Have a 2020 I-PACE and love it! Best daily driver we’ve ever had! This replaced our 970 Panamera Turbo (both of which we bought used btw), a car that most ICE fans would probably agree is a pretty good daily driver in its own right. And I can honestly say the Jag is better in every single way. I don’t miss the Panamera one bit, neither does the wife. With the Jag, there’s no automatic transmission to get confused around town, never getting into a hot or cold car with preconditioning, there’s insane instant torque, the smoothness and refinement is unmatched (not only because no engine noise but also because the 1000 pound battery insulates you from road noise), the use of space is excellent (small on the outside and big on the inside because no engine), low center of gravity, naturally perfect weight distribution, being able to blow by anyone in traffic anytime, never being in the wrong gear, way more efficient, never being late because I had to stop for gas, no maintenance, quicker than most v8 family cars and more efficient than i-4 family cars, etc etc. And even though on paper the panamera was faster 0-60, in real life around town it’s not even close - the Jag would be gone before the panamera would even get into the right gear.

Reliability is a huge factor, especially when coupled with a supply chain that simply cannot keep up with demand. Anyone who is considering one of these needs to look closely at H441 update issues rendering many cars (a significant number) almost unusable due to capping battery capacity at 72%. That for me means a displayed range of 145 miles and real world mileage at less than 120. The wait for this to be repaired can be 4-5 months. Windscreens that simply become detached from the car, a £2k fix if not covered by warranty. Failing heaters, leaking A/C systems (battery and front subframe out to repair), front drive unit backlash (£5.5k). I have never had an alleged "Prestige" vehicle with so many major faults and a complete lack of spare parts. Eleven dealer visits in 18 months, ten of which were for major defects and waiting since October for the battery to be restored. Buyer beware.

I had the mobile tech at my home address 3 times in 6 months, he was also at every single JLR owner in the street of which there were 3, it became a running joke..............they look fantastic but are heaps of garbage imo!!!!! Also some of the interior plastics used in the cabin were worse than crap, squeaks and rattles everywhere.

Charging speeds mean much less in reality. Given I had a Q4 for a week which is fairly fast at charging, finding a public charger which will supply its quoted speed or anywhere near that is impossible. 150kw charger thats being used on neither a busy nor quiet day, you'll get around 40kw/h. Porsche realised most of their owners charge at home nearly all the time, and admitted their 800v charging framework is a bit unnecessary

I think Jaguar as a whole is sleeping for the last 6 years, not just i-Pace, they haven't brought anything to the market other than the new F-Type, did minor facelifts of the rest-XE, XF, F-Pace, E-Pace. Its a shame, how the JLR group completely ignored Jaguar and concentrated only on Land (& Range) Rover. This car needed an update in 2020 with a better battery pack for efficiency and even if late, they could have done it now in 2024 to go out with the last hurrah but lethargy is hard to break. Such a sad story for Jaguar who make arguably the best looking and feeling cars but never support them with good and relaible moving parts. Same story here but with electric drivetrain.

As an owner of an i-pace and old-old rav4, I can say that Jaguar has to make something like e-pace, but electric. It has to be smaller than i-pace, lightweight, spacious, efficient, more affordable and with all new LR/jaguar tech in it.

I always really liked these and it's amazing it still is arguably the best looking car exterior and interior both, in its segment without looking old in the slightest. What's odd is, I would "think" on a car like this - especially where Jaguar as a brand often keeps the same model to market for 10+ years - bringing battery tech up to date would be relatively easy to retrofit during the midcycle refresh. Ditto that interior screen, it's easy to see it could be enlarged without too much effort - huge bezel all around on a large dash. It's a great chassis and design If they could just get the numbers and basic tech to be competitive, I don't think there's anything wrong with the car itself (including its price) for another 5+ years of what could have been its best years of sales.

I got one for 3 years and I totally agree with this review. Amazing car to drive, and still the best looking EV to me, but the price just doesn't justify for what you get. For that money now you can get the new Macan EV ! Please don't compare this to a model Y or Mach E, this isn't fair when you see the difference in fit and finish and luxury. I also think the infotainment is now also very outdated and have to say it's one of the least reliable EV, sadly. I would have kept it if it was. Also sad to feel that Jaguar never seemed to want to sell it.

I'm a Model Y owner, but been in a friends iPace that he charges off his rooftop solar. The interior and ride are excellent. You would not know it had been on the market so long. Jaguar should have bought the charging tech up to date and reduced the price, but me thinks it's a compliance vehicle and beyond the fact they probably don't make much money on it, Idoubt Jaguar want the iPace to be popular, so they don't have to support it.

Brilliant review from an excellent presenter - l have decided to get an i pace rather than a Polestar 3 for 3 reasons - firstly its a jag and the drive is amazing and secondly inside the car is so luxurious and l really hate the 2 screen lazy approach of Polestar , hiding behind minimalism , thirdly the Polestar's monthly payments are too high for a brand that has no heritage yet.

I think the i-Pace is such a great car and it was a potential for me, but the lack of any technical refresh, low charging speeds and the obvious lack of an electric strategy from Jag put me off in the end. It's a real shame that Jaguar didn't capitalise on being ahead of the game with this car and really become a leader in the EV market. A really good review👍

I owned a 2020 2 year old second hand SE 400 black edition for 9 months . Overall a fantastic car, one of the best I've driven. Low service costs, even cheaper my specialized road bicycle 😂 But every 2-3 months something popped up. Broken doorhandle after 2 months, wire harness issue (dramatic sound while driving), squeaking breaks on short stops (from 5 km/u to 0), failing infotainment, very poor lane assist that drives like a drunk. Even my father's in law Ford Puma has a much better lane assist. Currently driving my wife's Taycan RWD and that is just so much better tested overall, however the infotainment system freezes also from time to time afther 6 months. Did prefer the jag though, much more practical, better acceleration then the Porsche, the 4*4 was superb. But I had no confidence in the car, where i think this would become just a running bill. The depreciation and new price are too high, even for a second hand it will still continue to plummet. You can take the risk if you don't care about some minor discomforts. For me these were the dealbreakers. Just before I turned in the car i e heared about the security bulletin of setting itself on fire as a bomshell to end my story. I'm glad I don't have it anymore.

So sad to see this one coming to an end,. But, as an owner since 2021, and as much as I love it, I can’t wait to be shot of it as battery problems start to rear their heads. Jaguar service is shocking (they’ve had mine for 5 months for a new battery cell). But the I pace is beautiful, luxury interior and the drive is the best I’ve owned. Technology and service lets it down and I am sad to see it go. Jaguar needed to put more into this car to make it successful.

Eh? Very little to complain about? In your summation- the price and charging speed. But also its efficiency which is utterly atrocious. This is now so far behind the pack. Plenty of SUVs you did not mention such as the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6- the latter of which looks similar design wise but charges at 240kW and is almost half the price also and has a very long warranty which you probably won't need.Unlike the Jag. You would have to be a total Jaguar fan to buy this new or know nothing about EVs! 2nd or 3rd hand though (like most Jags) not bad at all!

Great car, 2nd hand bargains, don't worry about the battery, worry about dealing with Jaguar. I love mine. It eats up the miles and its a joy to drive. I never understood why Jag didn't bring out a 2WD with lower 0-60. It still functionally beats many modern competitors. Tech is looking aged.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that they have not updated the Batteries, the design was excellent, the JLR Pivi Pro system is excellent but again latest is not in this car..I had one for six months but the charging infrastructure network was than and now lacking, hence I now run a Hybrid that works for me...but it should in 2024 be more efficient and have 350 mile actual range...it’s almost a tragedy..

Having had a HSE for four months and now a Model Y LR for 18 months, I still miss the drive of the Jag, but the Tesla and other EV's have left the Jag behind in terms of the app, before you get in the car and also the infotainment. Efficiency is poor but more around the 225-260 mark, not improving the max charge speed is a woeful decision by Jaguar, I know they are ceasing production and in truth their focus is on the next generation of their lineup, but they should have given this great car one last great update....

Yup, got a 2019 first edition with 15k miles in Los Angeles for $40k. It has every option so new it was $90k! I’ve been driving it a lot and so far has been super reliable too. The biggest issues with JLR is drivetrain and since that is made by magna it doesn’t share the same woes as other JLR products.

Imo they are decent vehicles. Definitely worth looking at on the used market. But they didn't make enough quality of life improvements to justify that price. Its freaking fast, but the majority of EVs are quick now. It needed to charge at nearly double too make people look at it at its price. And it should have become more efficient over the years.
