Great feeling firing up an engine for the first time listening to every note and fine tuning it so It's just right and the Jags just sweet David look forward to seeing you do that test run mate Rob
Now then Dave, I’ve been sat here all bloody day waiting for this. as soon as I pop out you upload just wrong 😂😂😂😂😂. No, sound fantastic bud. loving the vids . Stay safe mate.
Just sneaking in a mini comment, at a recent UK auction there was a side hinged mini boot lid and in a up coming classic car auction there is a 1965 Mini Cooper 1071 with a full length tailgate.....
Dave, Please can you let me know the name of the auction i would love to have a look, Wood & Pickett or Radford built a few hatchback minis in the 60s for some well known celebrities like Ringo Starr & Peter sellers, Infact Ringos Cooper sold for over 100K i think, Cheers Dave
David, the 3.4 sound sweeter than the 4.2 engines, Yes i filled it yesterday the T5 has Dexron 2 ATF in them, Must take the tag off as they are sent out dry. Don‘t forget if you ever change your mind on the Mini Cooper i‘m your man lol. Cheers Dave
Doug, The green epoxy looks great but if you get any water on the floor it‘s like a ice skating rink lol. The black rubber coverings did save the floor being damaged but they where a bugger to clean & a bit of a trip hazard. Cheers Dave
hello, I have a complete 3.4 engine which comes from a xk 150 of 1958 with carburetor, gearbox, dinamo starter, it does not work, but it is not broken; do you have a proposal for an exchange with a 4.2 jaguar engine in very good condition, with the adaptation system for the xk 150 chassis, I would be happy to exchange these 2 engines if you give me the metal parts for adapt the 4.2 engine on the xk 150 chassis best regard olivier
Glad to hear of an Evans coolant fan! I’m so tempted to use in my engine when it is rebuilt for all the reasons you give, but there is a large ‘anti’ community - based largely on it supposed flammability....
Rich, I never heard about flammability with Evans, It‘s one of them old school things nothing wrong with good old water because it‘s free lol. The problem with water is it boils and creates steam so you can get vapor locks in the block, There is a good reason car makers don‘t use it! They would not be able to sell new radiators and water pumps let alone hoses, Plus the cost on a new car! Cheers Dave
Loved your Evans (WD40) flammability tests, ha ha ha! Hot Evans on a hot exhaust manifold though? Still feel like I’m going the Evans route though, particularly on a dry rebuilt XK engine :-) cheers
Looks great Dave , it will be funny when you set the steering up with the wooden seat , and your driving down the road with no body on the chassis, Fred Flintstone comes to mind lol cheers Mark
Mark, I will use a old mini seat just for testing the suspension before the body is fitted back on the chassis as that‘s the time to catch any problems while you can still get to everything, Fred flinstone is right enough lol. Cheers Dave
Randy, Sorry to let you down but i‘m just an average mechanic who got away from spannering in a garage over 30 years ago and made a career in the oil patch. To be honest i have forgotten so much that i have to go back to the manuals now & again to get me back on track lol. Cheers Dave
Hello David; you are making great videos. If you didn't know, you can buy Evans cooler here: www.sandtler24.de/evans-kuehlmittel. For 5Liters, they want 86€. Plus, for standard packet, they charge 6€ to Austria ( I think that's for 5kg, but assure yourself). I don't have nothing to do with them, just want to help, like you do. Best Regards
