I’ve had my 2009 XK 5.0 for 9 months and it’s possibly the most enjoyable car I’ve ever had. Plenty power (no need of the supercharger), 30mpg on steady medium length motorway driving. Couldn’t be better. And mine is the same black/ivory combination.
I bought the R version, in the same colour, as a second car and I love it. It brings compliments wherever I go. I did lose the back end the first time I drove it and agree with the lad from High Peak Autos that in the wrong hands this could be dangerous!
When I moved to the States I bought a Porsche because they felt so affordable… but it cost a fortune to maintain! Got a black 2013 XK Portfolio with full black leather. It’s a beauty of a sports car. Recently drove 500+ miles from LA to Vegas and back - it was the ultimate grand tourer. (gas/petrol is a little cheaper here!)
I am on my fourth one such a great car My XK is one of the last built and i have decided to keep it for the money you cant beat it I have looked at aston and there double the price and more and cost a lot more to repair One day they will be a classic they just dont build them
I have a 2010 XK convertible Portofilo with 115,000 miles and drive it every day. Love it!!!! I bought it with 80,000 miles and have only had to replace the water pump. It performs great and I think it is the best combination of asthetics, luxury and performance of any convertible. Black on black with chrome accents. Can't beat it!!
I get 24.5 mpg from my 2010 portfolio convertible and paid £20,500 for it in June 2019 with 39k on the clock that said this is the pre facelift version...great Sunday car👍
I have a 2011 XKR, and i love it. It's done 70000, so just run in! Just had the gear box oil and filter changed. Its a fab car anyone thinking of getting one, either 5.0 litre XK or the XKR supercharger get one. 👍
Great video. Was very tempted to buy one 2 months ago. Didn't as couldn't get a rear facing child seat comfortably in. On the other hand have a 2010 XFS. Was surprised to see how similar they are in terms of suspension. On a different note having a gearbox issue (I have the code of the fault) was hoping I could get some experienced advice on resolving it, as locally in Malta Jaguars aren't that popular and the help is more by trial and error.
@@dw4525 this absolutely broke my heart but i had to return it after roughly 30 days. 4 days after purchase the water pump failed and it broke down on me with coolant leaking everywhere! It went into jaguar for almost 2 weeks to be fixed and then came out with a seperate issue. There was a very audible squeaking noise whenever i turned the wheel to the right. Jaguar couldnt get to the bottom of it and by that point i had totally lost confidence in it so i got a full refund from the garage. It was in the garage more days than i had driving it. I was gutted but i havent given up on my jag dream. I think i just got a bit unlucky! Im on the lookout for a similar spec right now! Fingers crossed for a more reliable one next time
I’m so looking forward to buying one of these here in the states. It appears there’s no difference between a 2013-2016 & as long as they’re low mileage. It’s affordable for me, and it will be a 2nd car that I can drive on weekends.
Just so you know.. There is an optional second wheel on the right hand side of the steering wheel available and that is the adaptive cruise control. But you should know that right?
This is exactly the comment I was looking for: I would have liked to have written too that the second wheel on the right is present in all the Jaguars of that period equipped with ACC. I had an XF that was fitted with it and the steering wheel was pleasantly symmetrical, for the peace of mind of those who do not like asymmetry. 😂
I have a 2012 version............simply brilliant....33K miles also .....have a L322 as well.. great combo...this video has a slight negative edge to it....not a car for muppets....
I have a 2012 Artisan Special, which is like the Portfolio but with special seats and a full leather dark blue interior, including the headlining. Its a brilliant car to drive with the 385bhp V8, and it managed 26mpg on a 2,700 mile round trip to Italy through France, Germany and Austria. Reversing visibility is not very good, so it pays to get one with the camera.
Not sure if it is just my computer but it looks like the white balance is really off and everything is washed out in the video. I watched this same video a few weeks ago and it was fine tho :/
I’ve owned 2, a 2007 4.2, and 2010 5.0. Beautiful cars, utterly reliable. I don’t know why people automatically think Jaguars are unreliable, that’s old 1980’s talk. Jag’s are as reliable any other car in the same market segment.
XKR most reliable car I’ve ever owned. Had to service my Porsches more often than my Jags, I can only speak for my XKR don’t know reliability on the rest of the Jag lineup.
Obviously you have not owned one and are a clueless muppet. Of all the 30 or so cars i have owned The XK is the most reliable car you can buy mechanically and electrically.
