Thanks for showing. This work is really easy, I had already done it on my VOLVO 965. This vehicle was built in 1995. Damian, your videos are always very accurate.
Udo, thank again for your support. These motorised antenna's were once a luxury item, how things have changed. This design of radio aerial really helps identify the era these cars came from, regards Damian
Useful guide and I like the detailed description and photos. Sometimes it’s hard to see what’s going on in RU-vid instructional videos but you’ve nailed it👍
Excellent video ..succinct and to the point. I think even I can do that! My antenna does not fully retract so this is a little job to be getting on with..thanks for the guide, very useful
Very useful Damian thank you. My aerial stopped retracting fully so I'm sure this will help. I'd like to add an amplifier to my standard set up one day as the stereo is underwhelming as is. Do you have a video on this?
Bernard, I haven’t done a video on adding an amp but there is a video of refurbishing the original head-unit. This made a surprisingly noticeable difference to the power and quality of the sound. Coming up in a couple of weeks, regards Damian .
@@ODRModurol that'll be really interesting. Already got rid of the dead speakers awhile back post your video on that. I'll be curious to see what you did.
Bernard, to be honest the back lights were not working so sent it off to guy offering repairs. Came back fully refurbished and sounding better than ever, plus an added feature. More details coming up very shortly, regards Damian
Re 2006 XKR . How do I find the cable to connect a new antenna to? Existing antenna which I removed was not OEM did not have a jack to connect to and did not work. I see a jack but it is connect to another large cable bundle whose purpose I do not know. Is there more than one cable jack in the area? Thank you.
Joel, very difficult to help you without seeing some photos of the problem. Please send them to oanddr@gmail.com . Alternatively, there are wiring diagrams available on our website which might help. www.modurol.co.uk . Good luck fixing your radio, regards Damian
Mark, sorry planning to cover in another video shortly. Watch this video for clues. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ozTBPvQ-fnU.htmlsi=zJiqq-RlcYdrChPr Thanks for the feedback, regards Damian
Just about to tackle this job and I have a new tooth cable ready to go if my existing one is beyond saving. The very end of the tooth cable: does that clip into any part or is it just lose in the housing? Thanks
If you're still answering questions, I have one I need an answer to, I lost my mast to a tree that broke it, I've ordered a new mast on eBay, and my question is this, must I do as you did, take it all apart, or can I just slip the mast into the mast hole and it will connect freely that way, or do I have to get under the hood to connect it as yours is. Which way is the proper way to reconnect my XK8 radio wand. Please let me know, thank you!
Randy, yes we are still answering questions. Yes,I believe it is possible to remove and replace the aerial without removal (see link to video below). However, haven’t seen this method used with a Jag aerial. Might be worth a try as if doesn’t work you can use the removal method. Sorry can’t be more helpful, regards Damian ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QpMPMBjUs90.htmlsi=lf5msbrd0lVwzYvJ
Melba, I only lubricated the existing aerial mechanism. So I only used some grease. However, it buy a new aerial mast is only £10 to £15. Easy and cheap fix either way. Hope that helps, regards Damian.
@rdm415, you only need to buy the aerial mast and not the complete motorised unit. Normally the tooth break on the mast and not the motor cogs. Here is an example for your information. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362298111777?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=XQKMQxIySje&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=sgHoZWOXTEe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY regards Damian
