The fact that you can use Jamo as speed over the top, Gibbs as speed underneath and Amon-Ra as just one of the best route runners in the middle is just unfair
Like most Lions fans last night, i didn't love taking him so early....but we walked away with a GAME CHANGER who can make guys miss, run through tackles and play in the slot. In Brad Holmes we trust, welcome to Detroit Jahmyr!
Gibbs has the speed, agility, vision, and footwork to be a real problems for the league they didn’t use him enough this year next year he will put huge numbers like 6 yds a carry
just like most lions fans, I was scratching my head at the pick. After watching him more in depth, this guy has game changing speed, vision, ability to break tackles and has exceptional footwork when lined up in the slot as a wr. He’ll be a nightmare for a LB to cover
You don't see many RBs with such a clever change of pace, slowing down to set up the defender for a sudden burst of speed (a lot of speed). He seems to read blocks well too.
He's gonna be so fun to watch behind our O-Line. His vision, the ability to set up defenders, the quick change of direction, the speed. He is a true gadget player that I know Ben Johnson is rubbing his hands, waiting to use in unimaginable ways
Yeah man idk...I think your head scratching is spot on...seems like a waste of a pick...he is quick and has good footwork...but NFL is a whole other deal....it's not him it's the pick and the lions has serious defensive issues...
The scary thing is he’s way faster than Kamara, the upside in Ben Johnson’s offensive scheme is going to be unreal. I have him comped to Jamaal Charles..he’s that good imo.
We have to trust the process. He’s cheaper then Robinson because he’s not a top 10 pick, Gibbs played in the SEC and is a proven solid RB. Lions also got a nice second round pick out of it, #34 I believe. Also have to think about the division…”taking away” a player those teams may have wanted while the lions could benefit from over the next 4-5 years. Saving cap space down the road. The Lions don’t need much this year, all those “voids” can be filled with second rounders and players falling deeper into the draft then what was expected.
@@LegoMan92They added much DB help in free agency, addressed a hole at MLB and now they can stock up on depth on the D-line in the second round as they want. Already improved. Lions don’t have many glaring holes Fr
@@LegoMan92 Since the debut of this particular regime, there's been no "hurt".....it's intelligence, competence in how to build a team, they only been improving. Check this current regimes track record. They're trending....
Honestly idgaf if we took a punter at 6. If we find a dude that can elevate the team I say take him. Mock draft writers in shambles with teams taking running backs in the first round.
The way he breaks those leg tackles with low century of gravity and great balance reminds me of Barry Sanders. This kid has TRUE potential. The teams that passed up on him gonna feel rly dumb in a few years.
Speed kills. You see it with Miami. Gibbs is listed as a RB but you can honestly pencil him in as a full time WR and he'd still be very good. When Jamo comes back they're going to compliment each other well. Don't forget about St.Brown either. Offense got even better.
Them running backs from Alabama always make a huge impact in the league💯 I seen people not liking him getting drafted so high, but Alabama produces quality backs. From Derrick Henry, Mark Ingram, Kenyon Drake, Josh Jacobs, and the next great will be Jahmyrr Gibbs💯
Lions will run league defenses into oblivion. You have the 2nd best offensive line in football, now an endless backfield of ridiculously good and multi-purpose running backs and speed at receiver. Another huge year for St. Brown as everyone has to load the box or watch the clock burn while each run goes for 10 yards. Definitely a Super Bowl competitor.
He doesn't seem to take full hits. When he goes down it seems to be he gets tripped up or a they get a piece of him. Rarely does anyone tee off on him. After seeing det back after det back get injured over the years that's good to see
In case y'all weirdos didn't know. We run the ball in Detroit. Y'all can have all these dynamic pass rushers, but guess what? Goff handin it off, and then he's gonna dink and dunk y'all punks down the field. WE RUN THE FRIGGIN BALL IN DETROIT !!!!!!
No wasted moves in the backfield, and can change pace perfectly. If williams can look good behind this o-line, this boy is gonna run wild. Might as well line swift up in the slot, maybe even 2 backs with some trickery! Like it!
I can only imagine every play with JAMO in motion and Gibbs running the other way. Then slip LaPorta right up the seems. That’s prob our every play set.
I just think the Lions wanted Bijan Robinson and Atlanta stole him so they settled for Gibbs. Gibbs speed and catching ability is outstanding but let's be clear that OLine makes Gibbs look good as a runner did you see the wholes he was running thru? If the Lions have the same or better Oline he'll be great plus the speed and catch. I think the draft room was masking it up with the extra clapping to justify this pick. They had no real backup plan, BIJAN was there pick. The Lions just got a better Swift and let the old Swift go to the Eagles. Check the tape on Bijan Robinson and you will know what the Lions real plan in the draft was.... ijs
Nah, Lions already paid Montgomery, don’t need Bijan. Gibbs is a good running back and a better slot type than Bijan, and insurance for guys like St Brown. Goff likes those YAC type guys, of which St Brown is one of the best. Gibbs will be very hard to cover from a receiver standpoint. And the Lions OL is top 5 in the NFL, Gibbs will fit in nice.
as a lions fan, im disappointed. I'm sure this guy is good. We have 2 good running backs already, just wish we got a DT or Corner, hell an O-lineman... Really didn't like this pick. But wishing him the best and hoping he surprises the hell out of me.
I hate this fan base😂😂 There was one DT worth taking at 6 and it was Carter and they met with him twice so obviously they found something they didn't like. I hate how everyone ignores this teams offensive needs. Swift can't stay healthy haha hes proven that again and again. Time to move on. This makes so much sense. I do gotta be honest though I had us trading down from 18 and taking Gibbs late first didn't see 12 coming haha
@@kodyshay7380 I look at it like this- Gibbs at 12 is a gamble because of how high you're taking him. Carter at 6 is a gamble because of his off the field issues. If we felt like gambling, I'd rather gamble on Carter straightening out his issues in the Lions' culture and NFL locker room. Just because if he can, he'll be an absolute game breaker at a premium position, which we also desperately need.
@@scotthunter9218 if you’re suggesting that Gibbs is a gamble merely due to his position then you’re not understanding the level of work that goes into picking these guys. Carter was a big red flag due to off the field issues and a gamble because his pro day was awful. Watch Holmes’ press conference. It’s clear that they intend to use Gibbs as a multi-tool, not just a replacement for Swift. They got a guy that they think can elevate their team higher, the end.
@@16Hodges I don’t even know if they trade swift dude, he’s got a year left on contract and has yet to stay healthy an entire season. Dude might get cut if he doesn’t get it together. Can’t imagine anyone sending over a kings ransom for him.
My top 3 favorite players in the draft. Wish my falcons would have drafted him. But yall have 3 backs now !!! Wtf lions. Well gone send swift to the falxons so we can have a hell of a 12 punch of our own.... smh..get the best of the board i guess
I see a Cj2k-Derrick Henry hybrid. Boy got that slow speed and big ass legs and power like Henry and smooth speedy stride like Chris did. Gibbs gonna be the truth for the D
I honestly believe this guy will be top 5 running back and once Derrick Henry retires will be my favourite running back in the league since I’m a bama fan
Talking heads on TV :"Positional value even if the guys don't love football and want to work to be great". Brad Holmes "Jahmyr Gibbs, Jack Campbell, Brian Branch the media thinks people should have waited to draft you and teams passed on Branch. What is your profession Lions". Draft picks "Football players, watch the tape". Brad Holmes "You see media people, we drafted more football players than the teams you praise did". Let Brad cook.
Say what you want “L pick by the Lions” but this a W the more I look at it because Gibbs can do everything play Running back He can play reciver too He’s a mini AK41
All these Lions fans pissed off we didn’t take ONE defensive player at pick 12 but lose their minds when we take the player that helps our ENTIRE defense stay well rested.
Watched him all season. Only weakness is pass pro, he lost some snaps towards the tail end of the year cause he looked lost at times. But he was arguably the best rec threat Bama had, don’t why they didn’t have more packages with him at slot to keep him on the field a bit more. Either way, dude has the tools and potential to be a special, game changing type player in Detroit. Edit: he did have some minor injuries so that also played a part in Bama leaning on McClellan a little more towards the end of the season.
