if you have trouble with exploit initialization failing, then do this: 1. delete cookies 2. delete search history 3. delete cache 4. bookmark PS3 HEN auto installer (page where initialization keeps failing) 5. restart Internet browser 6. go to bookmarks and go to that page 7. initialize and thats it...

This is a really great starting point. But it misses some REALLY critical bits. A. When you want to update to the new firmware, if you go to System update, it won't find it from USB. You have to boot your ps3 into safe mode, and then go from there. B. Once you have installed that, you have to do some extra steps to make the hen installing initialise. (Per Zekks comment) and finally, if you are still connection to the internet, or if you have media centre (under network settings) enabled, the hen enabler won't work. Disconnect from the network, and disable media centre and it then works.

@@brandonbryant2767 I'm 4 days late, sorry my dude. Press and hold and power button. Press and hold the power button, you'll hear a beep. 5 seconds later, another beep, and then after 5 more seconds, it'll power off. Release, and press and hold the power button again repeating the process. After a while of beeps you'll hear a double beep, and the ps3 should boot into safe mode.

Ngl, I prefer Evilnat/Cobra CFW as it just seems right to the point, unlike Hen in which it takes a handful of reboots to get working. Last time I used Hen, it bugged out all of my DLC, changed the language to Spanish, and crashed the system each time I booted Hen. It took me an Hour to revert back to Evilnat 4.88.2 CFW.

HEN is ok. It's kinda annoying having to enable it at every boot up to access the homebrew apps. And it's buggy at any given time it may freeze when accessing an app and you have to unplug console to recover. Overall it's useful if you're patient.

I suggest you never to activate and use ps3hen and other hybrid/custom firmwares while being connected to the internet. Playstation Network security bots may check your console and if they find something that doesn't respect their terms of use (pirated games...) you will probably get banned from playstation network forever. There is also the risk that your whole console might be banned and you will not be able to use it again.

Been thinking about hacking mine for awhile now but never got around to it, I have a UK release 60gb phat model on 4.83 so what’s my best bet to hack it? Also other than not being permanent & needing to be rerun every time you turn the console on is there anything the hen can’t do that the cfw can? Btw I’ve been wanting to upgrade the hard disk, do I do it before or after hacking the system?

Every time I try to update custom firmware on the PS3 (even after following instructions), it always acts as if it downloaded the official firmware, not the custom one. Thankfully if HEN is already installed, it is surprisingly easy to recover those Homebrew tools. Of course, with getting HEN on in the first place, I'd recommend a video akin to this one.

Hey Blaine. I love your videos. I used your video to mod my PS Vita. I have great offer for PS3 and it's modded with EvilNat 4.89 0 Cobra 8.3. I read that you can use your PSN account. It has a lot of some tools to avod sending some details to PSN so in theory I should be safe with playing and synchronizing trophies like I am able to do on PS Vita but I am not as confident to do that on PS3. What do you think ? Do you have some experience with that mod or you just use PS3Hen and how about synchronizing trophies with PS3HEN ?

I had to boot into safe mode twice, then CONNECT the USB controller because it wouldn't let me move anything around then DISCONNECT it then refresh and THEN IT WORKED. That was a HOT MESS!! About 10 refreshes .... keep at it ... eventually it will work.

If you get the error code 80029C55 while installing from the USB. Try and disconnect the controller and Either use it wireless, or just plug a keyboard to install it.

the hen initialization fails at 95% every time. i did everything you told me to do, help D: edit: bookmark the hen installer page instead of the ps3xploit page, clear all your cookies and history and stuff, then close the browser and go back into the hen installer page through your bookmark of it. then it should work instantly!

make sure that when you put the update files on the USB stick it goes exactly like this: On the root of your USB make a folder named "PS3" in all caps. then in that folder make a folder named "UPDATE" in all caps. then in the UPDATE folder put the PS3UPDAT.PUP in that folder. then it should work

Update to 4.89 HFW. You don't have to install the official firmware.

Thanks for the Video! FYI- Whoever got a message: No applicable data found, it is because you are using larger usb drive. Switch to a max 6GB drive or smaller and it will fix the problem.

Hi Blaine, I really need your help. I have a 12gb super slim model. I upgraded it to 500gb. I followed the first steps of the video but when I put the usb in the ps3, it says no applicable data found when I try to update it. If anyone else can help please give advice.

Did you put the update firmware on your USB?if so did you try going into safe mode meaning doing the hold the power botton till it turns on keep holding it too it turns of then let go then hold the power botton down too you hear the 3 beeps then let go then safe mode will display then scroll down too the bottom too update,if so did you create a PS3 folder in that folder UPDATE and in that folder putting UPDAT.PUP all in capital letters?

Did you make sure your USB is a fat32 not ntf?

Bookmark the install hen page if it fails first time back out go to bookmark page and it works almost everytime

I re-installed Hen to the latest version but whenever I try to install the full version of Webman mod I'm stuck at a black screen. I'm using a Super Slim.

I opened my stored PS3 after watching what this mod could do..I had no idea! only my PS3 is on stock 4.70 FW..would it be better to go up to OFW 4.89 or update to 4.88? I have a choice so which should I chose?
