Stuff is actually better tuned down a half step. Action on a Bass is tremendous. But rather difficult for a band in General. Most can't stay in tune with Standard Tuning

I’ve been playing in bands for 30+ years…I’ve always played half step lower to D#

Yeah but who the heck is playing at concert pitch? I learned very early most every band is tuned down at least a half step when I first saw Robin Trower back in 1977

Cuz its in standard tuning. The original was tuned a half step down. For example the E string became the d# string
