Jaime Camil on playing the King of Rancheras in ‘El Rey, Vicente Fernández’ | ABCNL 

First of all, my appreciation to ABC News for including this story as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month. Listening to Jaime Camil interview, that Vicente Fernández was more of the generation of his parents and not so much his, that’s not absolutely accurately. I am a bit younger than Jaime and I grew up listening to his music. Of course, he was already famous when I first watched his movies and had heard some of his iconic songs. Still, he had a very long music career, not only our parents had the opportunity to listen to his music, but us children did too. Perhaps Jaime was into a different time of music, as he’s more from the city. The people from the country listen to Vicente’s music all the time.

I love Vicente ❤it is a great show happy that Netflix did this for all Mexican’s and everyone in the world that appreciate true talent and we all miss him so much but he lives in memory his music will be forever no one can ever be him or sound like him

Jaime Camil has been one of my favorite Hispanic actors since I was a kid (I knew who he was before he was on Jane the Virgin); Some of the novelas that I saw him in were La Mujer de Madera, La Fea más Bella and of course Por ella soy Eva. I can’t wait to watch the new Netflix series El Rey

That was an absolutely brilliant series… I don’t watch TV, but recently retired and was looking for shows to watch while I decompressed and transitioned to retirement… I found El Rey on Netflix, not knowing it was brand new, I binge watched the epis.. The acting, setting, and costuming was done so well that you really felt like you were right there with them! My daughter’s Abuelita would play Vicente’s music and I loved it back then. This wonderful series chronicles his life’s many challenges and successes as he rose from humble beginnings to become a beloved star and icon…such a beautiful and engrossing story of family, sacrifice, love, loyalty, friendships, struggles, and success 🤩💖 The ending personified his glorious achievements … I cried at the end… Not out of sadness but out of God’s glory and happiness for Vicente and his family 💖💖 … #ElReyVicenteFernández

A beautiful story of an amazing life I have always admired Vicente and this story helps me understand him more and his struggles to never give up.

Vicente Fernandez is an Iconic international figure in the Vernacular Mariachi music🎤🎶🎼 and a well known not only in HispanoAmerican countries but also in several countries as far away and non Hispanic speaking as in my own country I love Mexican Mariachi music ,and to be able to sing this genre of beautiful music and to that extraordinary tenor level with a voice like the One and Only Vicente Fernandez had , not everyone can do it . Vicente was played in my home since I was still in the womb and when he died I cried all day. Lmao. I’m only 28 😂. But still, the artistic and powerful and elegant guy was almost an idol for plenty of Mexicans. I LOVE the show. And I’m glad they put so much time and cinematography was literally excellent. If you haven’t seen it watch it it’s really the best.

When I saw this interview with Jaime, I was like 😲😲😲Look, It’s Miguel’s PaPa from “CoCo.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I Love Love Love this series & Jaime did an Incredible job of portraying such an Iconic man & Legend. I had know idea it was Jaime who was playing him. I kept looking and looking at his handsome face and kept thinking 🤔 to myself, “Where have I seen this man before?” 🤔🤔🤔🤔and 💥 Bam 💥 Here he is. I started to cry 😭😭😭😭because my father is no longer here, with us on earth 😭😭😭 He passed away back in 1997, but I know my father would have loved seeing this series about one of his favorite singers. ... the year is June 1972 as US Navy sailor, the USS Coral Sea is due for a port call into Hong Kong. I tagged along with some older salties that are going to show me the places to go. After quick tour of the downtown it's time for some food and as we nearing the restaurant, I catch the sounds of what swear I hearing Vicente Fernandez singing Volver Volver. Yes it was; the jukebox was blaring out Vicente Fernandez ... in Hong Kong. I have never forgotten that day.

Loved it! Finished it last night finally, but missing it already. Masterpiece, no doubt.

Thank you Jaime Camil. You did a wonderful marvelous dramatization of the immortal Vicente Fernandez. I enjoyed the mariachi música that Don Vicente sang and I loved the way you brought him to life through your portrayal. All the luck Don Jaime in the rest of your acting career.

I was upset at first that they didn't cast his own son to play his father ,but then started watching El Rey and absolutely gotta say that maybe Alejandro didn't have the acting chops that were needed. Hats off to you Senor Camil you did one hell of a job 👏 I have become a huge fan of yours. My pops came to this country back in 58. And some of my fondest childhood memories were having a house full of Mexicans my dad was sponsoring from Mexico .and Vicente Fernandez blaring out of the stereo system in the living room!!
