Kudos to both the Professor Santhalingam and Murali Sir. I am amazed at the spontaneous reply to all the queries posed by Murali Sir. My earnest request to Murali Sir to bring all these intellectual researchers to limelight and appeal to Tamilnadu Govt. to include all these researchers to educate future generations with their immense knowledge. My thanks to schaler Shandhalingam.
Excellent information about the history of Tamils. Thank you Murali sir and Shivandam sir for this great video document. Great knowledge! and you have brought the viewers to feel the ancient period. Requesting to conduct research in Kanyakumari district in Chitharal hills where the shelters of the Jains are still available. I, being a student of History, am inspired by this mind blowing conversation.

Early literature of Tilokpiyyam is 100% jain work Bcz it is written in tamil brahmi It contains many jain prakrit words Many cave of tamil nadu dates back to 400th bce are all jain caves with tamil brahmi inscription The real text Tilokpiyyam is confirmed by historians that it's a jain work Early all Pandya king were followers of Jainism
Thank you sir both of you. Very knowledgeable discourse. In silapathykaram while leaving Poompuhar Kannaki and Kovalan worshiped chathukka boodham suggesting they themselves may be Jains. 8-1-23.
In nagaraja temple Nagercoil many Jain saints sculptures below the stone pillar s available in maga mandabam. It is stated that the nagarjar temple was a Jain temple upto 17th century AD. The venad king donated land to the Jain temple in the 17 the century as per stone inscription.

Missed out from Southern Tamil Nadu in discussion are: Kazhugumalai and Chitraal- Samvit Sikhar and Palitana of Tamil Nadu. I ador Jainism- for their self restraint and strict discipline. I visited Dilwara Jain temple, frequented Hatheesingh temple of Dharmanath and never miss visiting Kazhugumalai whenever opportunity arises. In Kazhugumalai, We can find a Jaina aboard of 8th Century BCE. Kazhugumalai is in Jain tract of Kazhugumalai- Paraipatti- Guhanparai- Vembakkottai. Asoka and other Maurya Kings never ruled this region and they were defeated by Pandyas. Obviously these (Kazhugumalai, Chitraal etc) are consturcted by Tamils. The inscriptions state that there are women higher in the monastic order and they travelled to 21 religious places and Kazhugumalai is one. Thanks to Ettayapuram Zamins of Madurai Naicker Kingdom, a feudatory of Vijayanagara Empire, this place is well maintained till date since 13th century. The irony is that no Jains are visitng this place. It is an architectural marvel. It consisits of a Education centre, Jain Beds and steps to reach the top of the hill. One will get the same spiritual bliss as that of negotiating Palithana or Samvet Shikar. Now the twist - 1. Jain temples are managed by private sects and castes with lot of closedness and hatred. 2. When TN made a call, Swetambara sects disowned it. 3.There are two sects within Jainism and Kazhugumalai belongs to Digambaras. 4.Digambaras disowned as locals of present day, are Hindus and Christians and there were no jains. (like present day Tirupati) 5.Finally ASI took over it and maintaining it all expenses. I wonder, these jains who claim Tirupati and other rich temples as theirs, - What is preventing Jains from other parts to visit this place? The inscriptions state that there are women higher in the monastic order and they travelled to 21 religious places and Kazhugumalai is one. On repeated requests, four Jain ascetics have visited Kazhugumalai over 30 years., but none of them ready for keep up of this ancient marvel. They include Vigyashree Mataji, who stayed at Kazhugumalai for Chatrumas. Praveen Sagar Marasaheb and Nirmal Sagarji, also known as Gujarat Kesari, visited in the 1970s and spent the four months of Chatrumasa at Kazhugumalai. In 1985, Vijaymati Mataji visited each village in the region and saw every scattered Jain statue. If they are silent on places like Kazhugumalai what is the motive behind claiming Tirumala Tirupati. If I unintentionally hurt anyone, please accept my Michami Dukkadam.
Kazhugu malai is a very important archaeological site. Below the hill in the cave, there is a Murugan temple which is also old. In my view, it is better that all sites more than 1500 years old must be managed by Archeological Dept of Union Govt. It is our heritage and there will be nothing more stupid than giving them to local administration. People can visit but rituals should not be allowed as it will affect these rare stone carvings. That should apply to all old excavations irrespective of religion.
@@karpasurya 1. I am afraid, whether you have visited the Kazhugumalai village. 2.The hill which houses Jain beds are different from the hill where the Murugan temple is located. 3.The rock cut structure is a Shakti temple, from where the Murugan temple is expanded later during 18th century by Naickers.
Francis: Vardhman Mahavir is the founder of Jainism. Sramanic is an umbrella term used for all traditions which include Jainism, Buddhism, Ajvikas, Ajnanas, charvakas and Akiriyavadas. These 6 traditions were contemporary to Vardhman Mahavir, originated at the same time. The popularity of first three are due to patronization of rulers or their mothers. Some prefer to include Naths (who dealt with energy) in this list. This holy land had atleast 84 of them with sizable follow up- Atleast 18 in our Tamil countries. They contributed in Philosophy, medicine and metallurgy.
