Hi everyone, welcome to my channel. Today, I’m going to show you the amazing Jaisalmer fort, also known as Sonar Quila or the Golden Fort. This is one of the oldest and largest living forts in the world, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in the 12th century by Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal, and it stands on a hill overlooking the city of Jaisalmer. The fort is made of yellow sandstone, which gives it a golden glow in the sunlight. It’s truly a sight to behold.
As you can see, the fort is surrounded by massive walls and bastions, which have witnessed many battles and sieges over the centuries. The fort has four gates, and the main entrance is called Suraj Pol or Sun Gate. Inside the fort, there are many palaces, temples, havelis, and shops, where you can see the rich culture and heritage of Rajasthan. You can also find many rooftop restaurants and cafes, where you can enjoy the panoramic views of the city and the desert.
One of the most impressive structures inside the fort is the Raj Mahal or the Royal Palace, which was the residence of the royal family. It has beautiful carvings, paintings, and balconies, and it showcases the splendor of the Rajput architecture. Another attraction is the Jain temples, which are dedicated to the 24 Tirthankaras or enlightened beings of Jainism. The temples are made of white marble, and they have intricate sculptures and designs. They are also known for their exquisite ceilings, which depict different scenes from Jain mythology.
The fort also has a museum, which displays various artifacts, weapons, coins, and costumes from the history of Jaisalmer. You can learn more about the fort’s legends, stories, and traditions, and also see some rare and precious items. The museum also has a section on the folk culture of Rajasthan, where you can see the colorful costumes, jewelry, musical instruments, and puppets of the local people.
The best time to visit the fort is in the evening, when the sun sets and the fort lights up. The golden fort becomes a dazzling spectacle, and you can feel the magic and romance of the place. You can also witness the cultural programs, such as folk dances, music, and puppet shows, which are organized by the local artists. You can also join the night tour of the fort, which takes you to the haunted spots and the secret passages of the fort. You can hear some spooky and thrilling tales, and also experience the dark and mysterious side of the fort.
Jaisalmer fort is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves history, culture, and beauty. It is a living heritage, where you can see the past and the present coexist. It is a place where you can feel the spirit and the charm of Rajasthan. I hope you enjoyed this vlog, and if you did, please like, share, and subscribe to my channel. Thank you for watching, and I’ll see you in the next one. Bye!
